Very basic
Same option every day, paper cups and plates!

Great experience.
Location in Old Montreal was excellent - close to everything . Fantastically quirky decor - just fabulous.
Very sparse breakfast - we felt that our very high room charge should include a much better quality breakfast. Just one glass of orange juice, one cup of coffee, one croissant and one pastry.

Funky, but with standard, comfortable rooms.
Nice, centrally-located hotel with a lot of art! Very friendly and helpful staff.

An interesting overnight stop.
Loved the artwork throughout the hotel most being very modern and contrasting with the age of the building.
Breakfast consisted of coffee in a paper cup and two small pastries. No gluten free options.

Enjoyed the visit to Montreal.
Location in close proximity to Old Montreal gives great access for those visiting Montreal, for example, Notre Dame Cathedral. Hotel has a funky vibe which we enjoyed, lots of artwork throughout.
Staff is OK. Skip breakfast, it was the same all 3 days of our stay. It consisted of croissants or croissants.

Lovely, art packed place with good funky music
The art work, the staff, the room size
No wine in a cool bar

One less star because of carpet in room, otherwise a great stay.
Staff very helpful and responsive. Location was great and many things like restaurants and historic attractions were close by. The room on the first floor was quiet and well appointed. Cozy beds.
Booked two rooms, 107, 108 for three days. They were well appointed EXCEPT the CARPET in both rooms was so stained and dirty, that they should be replaced. It rather ruined the total ambience of our stay. Otherwise, lovely.

Fantastic room, exceeded my expectations.
Lovely pastries. Would have loved better coffee options. Only tea available was green. Not my favorite. A protein option (cheese or egg) would have thrilled me.
Had to lift my heavy suitcase, myself, up a dozen stairs (I’m pushing 70). Help with or even a ramp would be a great addition to your hotel.

Living on past glory.
Chic styling and lots of art prints. Friendly staff.
Bedroom carpet could do with a clean. Limited pain au chocolat/croissant 'breakfast' on a flimsy paper plate is just cheap. Hotel bar shuts early and night porter refused to serve. Why no restaurant?

Wish I could have stayed longer
Very appealing to artists (I am one). The bohemian ambiance fit me perfectly. Loved the look. My room was larger than several apartments I had in younger days with soaring 14-15 ft ceilings. Floor to ceiling windows on two sides. I arrived hours after planned due to a travel glitch. Wish I'd had more time to enjoy it.
Carpet seemed like it needed a good clean. Otherwise no complaints.

L’Hotel was a comfy springboard for experiencing Montreal’s charm.
Great location, with a really diverse display of art on the walls, and comfortable rooms with attentive daily room service.
Our room had a strange smell like a mildew of some sort.

Lively hotel close to the action of Old Montreal
Fantastic location very near Rue St. Paul and the Basilica. Loved the high ceilings and modern art and decor.
It was quite expensive. Although the breakfast was ok, adding a few protein options — eggs, Greek yogurt, etc. would be appreciated.

Great location for exploring the Old City
The location was perfect - right around the corner from the Basilica and a short walk to the Old Port area. The hotel has a retro American vibe and is in an old heritage building. Lots of funky paintings and prints decorate the hallways and the main area. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We drove to Montreal, and the hotel valet staff had to drive our car to an offsite parking lot, but they were very quick whenever we needed to access our vehicle.
Everything was great, but I think the one thing that potential guests should know is that the breakfast consists of two croissant or pain au chocolat and coffee. If you want a full breakfast, you will want to visit any one of the cafes located near the hotel.

Overall, it was a great place to stay for the value and convenience.
Great location. Friendly staff. It’s walking distance to the basilica, cafes, restaurants or the metro. Parking garage was the building next to hotel so that is always convenient. It was quite and safe place to sleep.

Fabulous
It is an excellent location and a beautiful room with a high ceiling, very comfortable.
Breakfast is just coffee, croissants, and boiled eggs. I wish they do better but the hotel maybe has no kitchen. However, it is so close to the main street in Old Montreal that we can get Brunch anywhere.

Great location, nice clean rooms. Quiet. Nice light breakfast to start the day. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to everything in Old Montreal and right near the Metro to travel to Little Italy and Old Portugal. This was our second stay at The L.

Great hotel except of inept breakfast and dining room staff.
The location and staff were excellent. We were very close to public transportation and the front desk was very helpful with all our questions
The breakfast was minimalist!. We were there for 3 days from Thursday - Sunday morning. Breakfast was advertised as "continental" which was fine for us. On the first morning, there were croissants, which were excellent, hard boiled eggs and individual containers of yogurts. Orange juice/water was on the counter in dispensers as well as coffee. The next morning. at 8:45 there wasn't any yogurt. When I asked for some I was told by staff they were out of it. The next morning there still wasn't any yogurt again. Also, there was just juice available. When I asked for some water, a staff member said there was a decanter in the lobby where I could get water! This was unacceptable that I had to leave the dining room to get a glass of water. The 3 day stay at the L cost me over $1200. For that amount I don't understand how the hotel could not replenish the yogurt for breakfast and not putt out a dispenser for water. It's a shame that such a lovely and expensive hotel could not manage a simple continental breakfast.

Average
Location and stuff are great
Old hotel, overpriced for value, breakfast non existent
5 August 2024
Faded grandeur but you'll be distracted by the art
Great location for Old Town delights - port, sights, restaurants, bars etc, yet room quiet. Lovely old bank building, ensures high ceilings in room and inability to hear adjoining guests. Bed very comfortable. Shower over bath (high level rose but could be detached). Breakfast included made a welcome change. Staff young, kind, chatty and helpful.
Premier King Room was generous in size, but poorly put together - random selection of furniture. Pelmet of one pair of curtains coming away from mooring. Sockets/charging on one side of the bed only. Public areas crammed with every kind of pop art could give visual indigestion. Breakfast not trying too hard - gave up after second day.

Other than the rugs needing a good cleaning everything else was perfect
Absolutely perfect location. Room size exceptional and friendly staff.
The rugs were terribly dirty . Needs a good cleaning .

We enjoyed our stay, and would consider staying at the L again.
Decor of the hotel was fun. The room was very nice. Bed was comfortable and clean.
The a/c in our room didn’t work very well. We tried to adjust but it wouldn’t get cooler.

Great location, friendly staff, comfortable bedrooms, great artwork. Loved it!
I booked 4 rooms. 2 rooms for 3 nights - for myself and my 2 children. 2 rooms for 4 nights - for my sister and her family. For the 3 nights we got the room as expected, just like the photos on the website. My sister had a different experience: Her room was small and nothing like the photos. We raised this with the reception and the next day she was upgraded to a really nice room. So everybody happy in the end. Staff very helpful and friendly, bedrooms clean and comfortable. Art Work every where was really nice. Hotel location perfect. Could walk everywhere.
Breakfast was included in our price. We expected the standard breakfast with eggs, toast, cereal, etc... But in Quebec state the standard seems to be Croissant, orange juice, coffee/tea, yogurt and an apple. So nothing wrong with the hotel, our expectations were incorrect.

Cool hotel in a great location
Great location. Right on the edge of the old city and downtown. Easy walking distance to numerous restaurants, bars, shops and the waterfront. Historic buildings all around. The inside of the hotel is unique with the art and decor. Very cool vibe. Staff was excellent, very helpful and friendly.
