What guests liked

All you need to know

A small guest house with tranquil patios and gardens situated in Mexico City’s Cuauhtémoc neighborhood.

Being more like a cozy guest house, Hotel Casa Gonzalez is a beautiful property featuring four 1930s and ‘40s historic homes scattered throughout the verdure-covered courtyard. It’s where most travelers, couples, and families rush to experience a casual and homey ambiance. The fascinating spot on the premises of this hotel is the outdoor space embellished with patio furniture.

All of the 30+ rooms are renovated to restore the historic architecture. Where Double Room A is embellished with orange curtains, white walls, a spacious wardrobe, and a hardwood floor, the Accessible Room is carpeted and adorned with a modern touch. The amenities in common include free Wi-Fi, a built-in safe, a telephone, a small flat TV screen, and more.

Rooms with windows opening toward the streets pickup up a bit of noise, although it’s common in Mexico; still, if you prefer calmness, skip booking these.

Where you can dip your hands in the scrumptious breakfast at the featured family-run restaurant, in-room dining is also an excellent option to consider. Two communal tables are set indoors, and white patio tables are set outdoors; both seating areas make a perfect spot for unwinding or gossiping with other guests.

Free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the property, and the staff can assist you with directions, booking excursions, and recommending restaurants.

Hotel Casa Gonzalez is a classic, calm, and cozy ambiance featuring a hotel that one will surely love to stay in when in Mexico.

I highly recommend this place. It is well managed. Thank you

The place has charm, beautiful gardens with seating arrangements outside. Staff is helpful and polite. Dining tables are beautifully set, there are plenty of menu options. My bed was very comfortable. I like the neighborhood a lot. It doesn’t feel like being in a huge city at all, but rather like being in a welcoming small town. This was my third stay here since 2021. Thank you!

It is recommended to save water, which I support; however, it takes a very long time, before the warm water arrives in the shower. A lot of clean cold water runs down the drain, before it gets warm.

Fabulous

Rooms were spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Location was convenient for getting around and felt safe. Garden was beautiful and I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy it!

Some street/restaurant noise in the late evening but to be expected to an extent. Ear plugs and closing the windows sorted it out.

Quiet oasis in a great location.

Excellent guest facility in a quiet compound very near the US Embassy. The compound is composed of several older buildings, with a connecting courtyard containing tables and chairs, offering ample opportunity to relax. With older furnishings and paintings in the public areas, one feels as if one were a guest in a private residence.

No complaints! The restaurant offered family-style seating around large tables, so we opted to have breakfast elsewhere in the neighborhood, which offers all kinds of cuisines and ambiances.

Friendly, casual guesthouse with welcoming courtyard with gardens in convenient central location.

I have stayed here many times, and I always have an excellent experience. I'll just repeat what I said in my review from my last visit: Relaxing, oasis atmosphere in the garden around which the buildings of the Casa Gonzalez are situated. Old world charm--they have only changed the things that they need to. Very friendly staff. Opportunity to meet other travelers around the large "communal" tables in the dining room where they serve breakfast and dinner. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent location in a residential neighborhood within walking distance to many of the sites you will want to visiut.

There is nothing I didn't like. My favorite hotel in Mexico City.

value for money. spacious room.

straight to the point. my room is observably worn and can do with some refurb, although its spacious, clean definitely still in a “stayable” condition. toilet is another story, its a little tight in space with the bath tub taking up most of the space and toilet bowl right beside it and next to a wall. staffs are polite and responsive. helped with my parking late at night. didn’t really interact much other than check in and out. also didn’t manage to try the in house cafe/restaurant so no comments on that. for location, i guess its a place where its not near anywhere significant but not too far to uber anywhere in the city too. feels relatively safe area. value for money.

no elevators. aged rooms.

Very good

Very good localization, big, comfortable room and nice common spaces. Breakfest was good, but a bit expensive considering other nearby options.

There was a laundry room next to my room and I could hear the washing machine several times per day.

Wonderful Stay in CDMX

I loved our stay at Casa Gonzalez. The room was excellent (I loved that you get so many pillows) and the courtyard was a wonderful respite from the hustle and bustle of Mexico City. The location was good if you like walking. We walked to both the Museum of Anthropology and the Palacio Bellas Artes and they were nice walks but they did take 40+ minutes. However, it was easy to Uber when we didn't want to walk. Overall I recommend this hotel.

No complaints!

I’ve been there multiple times and it feels like home. Quiet, private and cozy.

It’s a quiet and cozy place, full of green and authentic Mexican elements. It feels like a mini Hacienda. I like that it’s very low key from outside but it’s so welcoming and wholesome inside, contrasting with the busy area around it. It’s not overpriced or pretentious. It’s an old-school property that has been well taken care of. The rooms are good size and beds are comfortable. Food is homey and tasty. Thanks to everyone that keeps this place alive.

Highly recommend this gem of a place! Great comfort and value.

Staff are friendly and smile and wave every time you come through the gate. Someone is always at the front desk (24h), and always happy to make an espresso. We did not eat at the Cafe on premises, but there were always people there so it must be good. This is a terrific gem of a place. Would come back!

A pleasant and personable respite from big hotels, with helpful staff and a great location.

The location is convenient and safe - and generally quiet other than weekend evenings when a nearby restaurant features a live band. The staff are friendly and helpful. The grounds are lovely, with a pleasant garden that includes tables and chairs in several areas. The rooms are generally quite spacious and some have balconies or ground floor terraces.

This year our bathroom had an unpleasant odour - apparently from the sewer system. That was not the case in the room my sister-in-law had - nor for us last year when we stayed here.

Wonderful, great value place to stay which could be perfect with minor improvements.

A charming older hotel with various buildings around a series of lovely outdoor seating areas in gardens. Nice indoor seating areas too. Warm, welcoming, helpful staff, 24/7 front desk. Quiet and secure. Great central location with very good dining options nearby. Beautiful dining room with good food. Very comfortable bed. Large, bright room with balcony. The larger rooms are worth a relatively small price differential. Great value overall. If you require a modern, high style hotel with air conditioning, this is not your place.

Only one large towel per guest, hand towels would have been nice. No water glasses in room, although available from the kitchen on request. No facial tissues in room. No screens on windows, so mosquitoes can get in if they're open.

A quiet and cosy Christmas-Star-Flower gem just a few steps from Avenida Reforma

excellent location - near bus station El Ahuehuete of the bus line 7, nice courtyard full of Christmas-Star-Flower (The poinsettia), room was very cosy and comfortable. Bathroom was little bit old old-fashioned, but clean, and that was most important. Breakfast was nice and delicious, served in Talavera ware. Stuff was very gentle and helpful - Fernando, Issa, Betale, Jorge - (If I forgot someone to mention, or misspell the name, please forgive me) thank you once again for everything!

Pleasant and convenient. I hadn’t stayed at CG in years and will definitely go back in the future.

Excellent breakfast, cheerful service.

I’m torn between wanting to keep CG a secret and concern that with so few guests, its survival may be in jeopardy. Maybe folks were staying away from CDMX last weekend because of Reyes.

Excellent location in quiet residential area 5 minutes away from El Angel

Four restored houses set around pretty garden patios, large rooms with wooden floors and high ceilings, gives Casa Gonzalez a relaxing and safe vibe. Well located for Reforma and El Angel, and buses to Puebla depart from a stop a mere 250m away.

Could do with more heating, given the size of the room and winter temperatures at night.

Great location, nice feel overall and v comfy big bed.

Great location - super walkable into Roma and Condesa. Some nice food places near by too.

Our room wasn’t the best in terms of view out. Window facing a wall but it wasn’t a massive bother as we weren’t there very much. Bathroom is a bit run down but was clean and tidy with good water pressure.

Private garden areas with beautiful flowers, short distance to main areas, lots of eating areas.

The location was good, close to several restaurants. Walking distance to paseo la reforma was about 10 minutes. Close to Angel of Independence, Reforma 222 mall with many shops, restaurant, fast foods and cinema. The staff at hotel were very nice including restaurant staff.

The room was very cold. I had to ask for an extra heater. Other than that the rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable with nice pillows.

Nice hotel in a very vibrant location.

This is a small hotel, in a great location. The entry is a little daunting, you need a key to open the gate. Inside, it's a nice space with small tables and open areas, a small courtyard and additional open spaces. Our room had 2 chairs outside for sitting if we wanted. The room was spacious and the bed was super comfortable. We had a king and a double in the room as well as a desk and a bench. It was a comfortable room. The bathroom was small and a little difficult to navigate because it was small. It served it's purpose. The have a very nice restaurant onsite. Breakfast was very good, lots of variety to choose from that was made fresh for you, not kept warm in a serving dish. We had a very good lunch at the hotel, food was well prepared and tasty. While we did not have dinner there (we were only there for a few days), the menu looked really good! The staff was very helpful in directing us and helping with taxis. The hotel is centrally located very close to the Angel of Independence statue, where you can easily get hop on, hop off buses, taxis, Ubers and regular buses. There are good restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel. Overall, it's a nice hotel and would have received better marks if the bathroom had been more updated and a little more spacious.

The bathroom was the only negative to this hotel because of it's size.

A small older property with charm. Really comfortable beds.

Old tub and shower - not a dealbreaker for me but may be for some.

Exceptional

Exceptionally kind and friendly staff! Peaceful and safe neighborhood to explore a variety of restaurants and parks and to use as a base for traveling throughout Mexico City with close access to Metrobus stops. Courtyard setting and balcony made the experience idyllic and welcoming. Second time at this hotel and would definitely stay again!

Just a little bit of walking to get to subway (metro) stations.
