Great location, so peaceful, beautiful casa and gardens, staff on site 24/7, and felt very safe. The rooms are very large, some with nice balconies, everything was comfortable and clean

Hotel Casa Gonzalez was fantastic! Everything about it was perfect; we couldn’t have asked for anything more. The food in the little restaurant was really good and cheap. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The grounds were gorgeous. And the rooms were impeccably clean.

The property was at one time someone’s house. Gorgeous gardens with blooming flowers and birds In the evenings twinkling lights. Rooms aren’t great but comfortable and clean. I like room 202 or the one next door for one person. Not big, but all I need…love this place. Inexpensive , good location, food if you want it wonderful staff.

The bathtub could use a deep cleaning

This was my third or fourth stay at this property. I love coming back here because of the intimate layout of the property, the central location, the closeness to restaurants, cafes, and the metro, and the friendliness of all the staff.

Unfortunately, the Mexico City half marathon ran down Av. P.º de la Reforma two blocks from the hotel so traffic was rerouted by our bedroom window.

Very cool building-more like staying in a large home than a hotel. Many courtyards. The location was great. I will return here, as many of my friends do.

Beautiful gardens

The property is beautiful and cozy! The room was the perfect size with large windows overlooking the courtyard. Breakfast was quick, delicious, and generous. All the staff were friendly.

Those who run hot should be aware that there's no AC. There's a ceiling fan to help cool down though!

Lovely courtyard with flowers and patio tables, on site restaurant served home cooked-style breakfast and catered to your requests, facility felt safe and secure, staff always at office at least through late night, bed was comfortable, room stayed cool in warm spring days (no air conditioning so I wasn't sure if it would be too warm but it was fine - daily highs near 29 and lows near 20), accessible drinking water, bathroom had ample hot water and shower flowed well. Staff were very kind and helpful. Staff booked us an excursion to pyramids the night before and cost was very reasonable & tour operator very good. No or little noise from neighbourhood. The neighbourhood around felt very safe.

Site and room access was by physical key not key card. The room could benefit from a bit of maintenance (e.g. some rust on bathroom light fixtures) but was in good to very good condition overall. The location was something we knew in advance but after a few days it felt a bit more out of the way to get to some of the more popular sites than anticipated but really not a significant issue - I think if there is an issue with it being a bit less central than Roma Norte or Condesa, it makes up for by having a quiet place with a lovely courtyard. Restaurants in the area were generally fine but I found maybe larger and noisier so we did walk to Roma Norte where there seemed to be more quieter restaurants for most nights.

We love staying in older style Mexican hotels and this one, with its many courtyards, fits the bill. We blissfully could not hear our neighbors in the next room due to concrete walls separating us. The kitchen staff were very kind and kept items for me in their refrigerator.

Ambience and inside premises

Last 2 nights there was a large group of young people staying in the hotel. They came in at different times late at night and were very loud. This is not the fault of the hotel, which was otherwise quiet, but it made for 2 rather sleepless nights.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Casa Gonzalez. Great location, friendly staff and all around great value. Highly recommend.

This is a lovely place on a quiet street but close to everything. The staff is wonderful I ate breakfast every day in the attached restaurant. Great food and communal tables to meet other travelers. Great stay will definitely return

A friendly, welcoming, attractive, homey place with a beautiful courtyard garden. Great neighborhood for food, walking and access to transit.Rooms and hotel grounds were really well lit.

We like softer pillows than what the hotel had so when we were in town we bought a couple. I suspect if we had asked about this the staff would have found some. But that is digging deep!

The entire place is like a little oasis with beautiful plants & a serene setting. The rooms were large and tastefully done. Would highly recommend.

The fan didn’t work and the shower was blocked. Having said that, the staff were helpful and did fix the shower for us.

Lovely gardens, cozy and beautiful house. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious. Walking distance to El Angel. I will definitely stay here again.

Delightful accommodations! Staff were kind, friendly and always willing to help. Breakfast was great…lots of choices. Bed was super comfortable and very large. Location excellent…we walked most places but took the bus out Uber when needing to go further afield. Hotel arranged taxi to/from the airport. We stayed 6 nights and only heard music from a nearby restaurant one night but it ended early. Great restaurants, cafes and coffee houses nearby.

I would have appreciated a cup of tea in the evening so a kettle with tea choices in the room would have been nice.

We were not surprised to find that several guests we met had been coming to Hotel Casa Gonzalez for years. It's hard to imagine how a host hotel in Mexico City could be more perfect for the visitor. The feel is very local and homey; there are flowers everywhere, 3 or 4 patios; one of the best breakfast menus in the quarter; but also always someone at the desk who speaks English and has helpful advice for every kind of traveler. The neighborhood is safe and pleasant to walk around on (though one should get advice on how to get to the interesting streets with restaurants and cafes more than residential streets). (By the way there's always free purified water when the kitchen is open. You always hear that people in Mexico City are considerate and kind to visitors. We found friendly and thoughtful staff who really enhanced our experience of the city, as well as engaging fellow explorers.

There are no improvements the hotel could make. This is not quite the place for people who want to feel they are in the heart of the city.

We really liked the location, the layout of the room, pretty outdoor spaces( had options). Dining room and property had lovely antique features( furniture, stained glass). Staff were very friendly and helpful, property was quiet. Food in the dining room was delicious, enjoyed trying Mexican options. Bed was supportive and comfortable. Housekeeping serviced room without being asked- made us feel spoiled. Appreciated that this was a family run hotel and staff appeared to be comfortable working there.

Some snacks in reception area(adequate) would have like a “sweet option”(chocolate or cookie) as most were salty. Overall not a big deal though

The location is great! Super close to Roma. The hotel is stylish and quiet.

It is a charming little place. It feels authentic, the staff are all nice and hardworking people. I loved how calm and welcoming the place feels. It is also very quiet, which is hard to find in Mexico City.

I was given a room next to the cafeteria, and was constantly woken up early in the morning from the noise. I would not recommend the room next to the kitchen.

Staff was super friendly and helpful! The location was very convenient and we liked the more authentic feeling amenities, as opposed to a larger hotel chain. The courtyard was lovely! We would happily stay here again!

The place is located in a good area and I felt safe the whole time. Also the workers were super nice.

My only complaint is the wifi, they need to improve their wifi service the whole time for me didn’t get a strong signal so I had to use my phone.

Breakfast and lunch were great deals and very tasty. Service was outstanding. Very warm and friendly. The bed was comfortable. Would have liked a small fridge but in the end with the restaurant on the premises, and free water refills, no fridge was not a problem. Location was great, close to US Embassy and many convience stores as well as several restaurants. However, it is located in a busy part of town and taxis were sometimes impossible to find. But if the hotel calls for one it arrives, no problem. They were excellent in giving us advice about the area as well as the city in general.

Only the difficulty we had trying to get a taxi when on the street Reforma. We should have returned to the Hotel and had them order a taxi for us.

Classic colonial building with lots of charm. Close to many great restaurants and sites. On a quiet street so when sleeping or in the courtyard it was quiet. Great breakfast for 200 pesos and the staff were always ready to serve you.

The ambience, the gardens, the cleanliness. It feels apart from the noise of the city. Beds are comfortable and it has all the basics you need.

As always great location convenient to easy transportation links to Chapultepec Park and/or Zocalo, not to mention being right in the centre of a neighbourhood with great food and cafes. The inner courtyard was like an outdoor living room that added value and comfort to the stay, while the friendly atmosphere and staff made it a 'home away from home.'

Some street noise at night but forgivable considering we stayed around Dia de Muertos.

Great little hotel in the middle of Mexico City! Felt like a nice quiet tree covered respite from the hustle of the city. Great price, kind staff, cute rooms, & daily room cleanings (most big hotel chains don’t even do that anymore). I also really liked the courtyards filled with trees, fountains, and lights where you could relax outside. 5 stars!

My only note would be that there’s no sign outside to let you know that it’s a hotel, but if you follow the directions sent to you via your hotel booking app/website, you’ll be good!
