Hotel Catalonia Las Cortes, Madrid

The location was superb - in a quiet street 5 mins walk from Puerto del Sol. This was the 5th hotel we stayed in on our touring holiday of Spain & was by far the most friendly & welcoming. Buffet breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice.

Nice central location. Good room. No “hotel like” reception/lounge/bar area but plenty of places near by.

I loved the style, I loved how clean it was. Staff was extremely nice, helpful and always with an amazing attitude. Beds were super comfortable. I would stay again 100%! There are a lot of restaurants, bars and important roads/places just a couple blocks away.

The room was very comfortable, the buffet breakfast was excellent with a good choice and the location was good for exploring Madrid on foot. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Unfortunately, the Barrio de las Letras, although a good location, was a bit filthy this time we visited. So, not really a dislike about the property itself.

The location was perfect, close by to everything by foot. The rooms and facilities were clean and extremely of high quality. The staff were all accommodating and ready to help.

This property is beautiful and well appointed! The rooms are large and comfortable. The location is walking distance to all of the sites. The staff are friendly, professional and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

Excellent location to all of the museums and sites. Very Centrally located. Room was comfortable. We ate breakfast around the corner at a little bakery. Enjoyed the staff at the hotel.

No Problems

Location is Perfect . 5 Min walk from Prado & Thyssin and 10 Min walk from Sofia Muesum . Near all the resturants and bars YET very quiet and peaceful. The Hotel is Charming. Breakfast was good.

Pillows are too flat for me. even they have Pillow menu , all of them are Flat . Same problem in most EU countries. I have the same issue in Switzerland .

I loved everything! It’s a perfect choice for those who want to have a comfortable stay in the heart of the city.

The only thing that I could mention here was the clogged tub.

Delighted to receive an upgrade. the suite was exceptional. Staff were polite and helpful, everything was perfect. Easy stroll to some landmark features and plenty of food choices locally

A longer stay would have allowed us more time to explore

Good location, with large comfortable room and extremely comfortable bed.

There didn’t seem to be an option to have a light breakfast rather than paying for the rather expensive one, but plenty of bars available nearby. The air conditioning was ok in April but could be inadequate in very hot weather unless it can be adjusted centrally.

Great stay in center of Madrid

I stayed at this hotel on my last visit to Madrid, and it was just as wonderful the second time. Great location, beautiful and well appointed rooms, afternoon snacks, breakfast buffet, and an excellent staff that's friendly and helpful. Shout out to the lovely Paula and Alejandra in the kitchen, and Mariano at the front desk. Highly recommended!

Our stay included the power outage on April 28th. The hotel staff did everything they could, and looked after us, even though they must have been as worried as we were.

I should have taken a taxi from the station to the hotel instead of walking. It was a little too far to walk with a suitcase.

Location very convenient. Close for walking everywhere. stayed 3 nights, visited all major sites and no taxis or metro. (Beauty salon 2 doors down. in case you need a wash and blowout) Even though it is downtown and we had a window to the street it was quiet enough at night which is a big plus for resting.

All good! Maybe some tiles close to the shower need repair, but not that important, just would hold up to excellence.

Breakfast quality and service was excellent

This is a beautifully appointed hotel with impeccable service. It was once a palace, and the second floor still has beautiful stained glass and frescoes. It is centrally located, with a short walk to Sol and Plaza Mayor. It's in a very historic part of Madrid, so the neighborhood is bustling but not in a crazy, party kind of way. If your room faces the street, you will hear foot traffic conversation occasionally. So if you're a light sleeper, ask for an interior room. The snacks every afternoon were a nice touch, as were the tall water bottles that refreshed both of us after a long day of touring. The chocolate bars and chocolate Lindt Easter bunnies felt like a nice luxurious gift as well. The hotel is perfect for couples and families with older children who are touring Madrid . We definitely hope to stay here again.

Every hotel staff member we interacted with was very knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming.

One half of our King bed was "slept out" with poor/worn out support.Air Conditioning was not functioning well. Could not get the room temperature below 21 C.

Our room was perfect, with possibly the biggest bed I have ever seen, it was so comfortable. I loved the little touches of having our room turned down for the evening with a gift of chocolate beside the bed! Lovely soft towels in the beautiful bathroom, with an enormous shower!

From the very first moments, we were delighted by the hotel – we received a complimentary upgrade to a suite. The room was stunning, with high ceilings and beautiful parquet floors that truly deserve special praise. It’s rare to find a hotel where the needs and habits of guests are so thoughtfully considered: large and comfortable tea cups, a kettle, a coffee machine, cozy pillows, high-quality linens, excellent toiletries, and – most importantly for women – a good hairdryer. In fact, there were two hairdryers. I don’t know if every room has a proper home-style hairdryer, but ours did. Housekeeping was great. Breakfasts were classic European style. The location is an absolute gem: turn right and you’re in the heart of the luxury shopping district; turn left and you’re on the city’s main square and Gran Vía. Everything was within walking distance, which made exploring incredibly convenient. We are truly grateful to the entire staff for their care and warm hospitality.

Excellence location for visiting Madrid. Great restaurants near by. Easy walk to major sites and Atocha train station- which is a 18 minute down hill walk.

We were upgraded to an amazing suite — with beautiful original fresco ceilings and a enormous bed and bathroo. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was super clean.

Beautiful building. Great location. Free coffee and snacks in the afternoon. Only negative was that one night we returned to find that housekeeping had left a keycard in the room, a stained towel in the bathroom, no plastic bag in the bin, and a lanyard on the counter. I suppose the cleaning person got distracted by something - could even have been something urgent- but it was a little creepy.

Customer-oriented and very polite stuff, super comfortable beds, good amenities and facilities. We enjoyed our stay a lot!

The hotel is located in an area full of bars and restaurants, during the weekend it can get noisy till late into the night, but that was somewhat expected. It's just a thing to consider if you're a family with kids or you're sensitive to noise.

The room and bathroom were both big, well equipped and beautifully decorated. The bed was excellent, big, comfortable and with very soft high quality bedclothes. All the staff were kind, efficient and lovely to us. Situated in the heart of the city surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops, independent businesses and museums.

There is only one high window in the corner of the room. For more than 300 pounds per night I would expect to be able to see if it is day or night

It would be difficult to fault this hotel as the staff and cleanliness were excellent. I was somewhat disappointed with breakfast, although there was plenty of options for me the "fry up" was not great. I like a fat (Lincolnshire) sausage but the sausages were skinny like chipolatas and were overcooked. The bacon was undercooked and fatty. We had to ask for eggs, we asked for fried eggs which came out with the edges burned crisp instead of white which meant that they had been cooked in deep fat which is not my style. I mostly had the cold meats and cheese as they were better. Bread was great.

The location was excellent. The room were a fabulous size. We were room 403 but just remember to request a double bed! Had lovely extra touches like free afternoon snacks etc.
