The Rocks Hotel is a distinctive boutique property nestled within the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf complex. Built around 2006, it stands out for its unique architectural style, which is modeled after the elaborate charms of 18th-century Victorian-era buildings. This elegant design choice offers a nostalgic contrast to the hyper-modern skyline that defines much of the surrounding city.
The hotel features 72 rooms, many of which are designed with traditional dark wood furnishings and French-windowed balconies. These balconies are a highlight, providing guests with panoramic 180-degree views of the outer harbour and the city’s impressive bridges. For dining, the hotel is home to Vic’s Portuguese Restaurant, which serves authentic local flavors, while its rooftop lounge offers a scenic spot to enjoy a drink above the water.
Its location is exceptionally convenient for travelers, being just a short distance from the Macau-Hong Kong Ferry Terminal. Because it is situated at Fisherman’s Wharf, guests have immediate access to a variety of entertainment, shopping, and dining experiences right outside their door.
For those looking to explore further, the hotel is well-positioned near several significant cultural sites. You are within easy reach of the Macao Science Center and the Macao Cultural Centre. Furthermore, the historic heart of the city, including iconic landmarks like the UNESCO-listed Ruins of St. Paul’s and the bustling Senado Square, is only a short drive or bus trip away, making the hotel an ideal base for both sightseeing and relaxation.
Expert reviews
“All rooms at this elegant faux Victorian-style boutique hotel have a balcony – most with a view of the bay. Unlike most hotels of this price in Macau, the Rocks doesn’t have a casino attached.”
“A prime location on a promontory surrounded by water, makes this Victorian-style boutique hotel seem like a low-key getaway. The hotel takes advantage of its views with a rooftop lounge, a restaurant complete with outdoor terrace that specializes in seafood and Australian beef, and rooms with balconies.”
“The Rocks is a boutique hotel garnished with a quaint Victoriana shtick, and part of the Fisherman’s Wharf shopping and entertainment complex. Its size, fanciful design, and harbour-side location make it one of Macau’s more unusual hotels.”

Good Location Antique Style Property
Very well located. Breakfast has vegetarian options.
The AC could not be adjusted, so they had to give a heater. The hangars in the cupboard were peeling paint.

Amazing night in a cozy hotel with a view
They were friendly and staff did extra mile for us to enjoy our wedding celebration day with upgraded room. Help in anything we needed and great breakfast facilities. Quiet area and amazing view. We will come back for a relaxed stay!
Rooms are always super cold. Can’t control temperature. Carpeted room.

Nice break, a relaxing time away from a busy life in Hong Kong!
It is a quiet area and a nice view with a balcony, which is the whole point of booking it. Transportation is ok, bus stops nearby. Macau is a small city, many sites are within walking distance, 20 minutes. We walked to the west side of the main island for 45 minutes.
I am not a fan of fancy renovation, but it is nice to stay a few days in a luxury feel all over the hotel. It’s a vacation!

Could be excellent with room service. That will justify value for money.
Breakfast was good. Location was good.
Unfortunately, there were no room service. Even wasn't possible to order breakfast in room.
Balcony should be more isolated from neighbours.

Perfection in style
Perfect hotel having its own style. Breakfasts (optionally) can be arranged in the neighboring Harbourview hotel.
Everything is perfect.

We had a great long weekend break.
The Portuguese restaurant at the Hotel was excellent, nice atmosphere, yummy food. We've dine in there many times during our short stay. Staff were very kid and helpful.
Breakfast was good but its located in another hotel, so for us travelling with a young kid is not as convenient. It gets busy as well, we had to wait for around 30mins to be seated but maybe it was just the time we show up (9am).

Overall enjoyable stay
Hotel is close to pier in an isolated area, so there is quiet surrounding. The balcony also offers good view.
Need to go to nearby hotel for breakfast. No shuttle to pier provided, and not able to catch taxi as taxi seldom drive into this standalone area. You need to go to nearby hotel for their shuttle. It's not convenient if you plan to visit other areas in Macau frequently.

Wonderful stay with excellent view.
Very nicely decorated for Christmas. Very helpful staff and excellent services.
Soundproofing not as good as we could hear the coughing and conversations from the adjacent rooms. The music being played in the hallway is kind of loud and annoying, more relaxing music will be better.

Great value for money with excellent room.
The room is amazing. There is one staff member, not sure what his name is but he is very friendly and speaking excellent English and very helpful.
The staff don't really speak English but it is understandable as 99% of visitors are Chinese.

A Macau hotel that Rocks
Extremely helpful at the front desk. I requested a wheelchair and an extra bed in one of the two rooms that I'd booked via telephone a week before I arrived, and all was ready for us when we checked in. They were also very helpful in recommending restaurants and points of interest for wheelchair friendly locations. The Rocks hotel rocked for us!
