HI Hostel Santa Monica, Los Angeles

Superb hostel and location. Very close to the Santa Monica pier and the metro station. The staff is friendly and the facilities have everything needed to the guests. Next time I'll return to L.A. I'll stay there again.

Nothing to complain.

Smelled better than most hostels. However, when you walk in you instantly question, if you should’ve paid less.. Same situation. Cleaner people. Quality people. I do recommend. Definitely an upgrade however $1700 a month is not worth it. Also, I don’t like how you don’t tell people prior to the reservation that they need to be out of town travelers. Communication and being direct is what I’m looking for when booking my travel reservation. It’s not a game.

The out-of-town thing! Tell me that before. I don’t have time to be riding around town for a vacation rental.

The best hostal i have ever been😭, i love the location, is in the heart of SM, and also the metro is really near! And u can go to LA dowtown so easy!
Has a really good kitchen and Bathrooms! Hot and cold water!
I hope they can acept people for more than 14 days!

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, even when I got confused with the time zone change and checked in much later than expected. The hostel itself is conveniently located near many major tourist attractions, stores, and restaurants. There are plenty of bus stops for those who want to venture out into the city and rideshare prices are decent compared to the other parts of LA.

I liked size of the room. I stayed in a female 6 bed dorm. We had a kitchen in the room which I was worried would make the room smell but luckily no one was cooking!

The hostel parties at night were a bit loud but it’s a hostel so I expect it.

Excellent location, close to many restaurants, and of course, within walking distance to the beach. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hostel had options to secure your bag for you both in the lobby and the room. Just be sure to bring a lock when staying in a dorm.

When staying with other guys, be aware that they may have different ways to sleep,. Like snoring, turning the light on at night, or opening the door to go to the bathroom. All of these can be negated with earplugs and an eye cover.

The location is only a few minutes from the beach and Santa Monica Pier. There's a courtyard, dining room, and large kitchen. The hostel has numerous activities for the guests.

I didn't care for the comedy show on the night of April 15th. If stand up comedians spewing obscenities is supposed to be funny, I'll pass.

Great location. Nice hostel, pretty outdoor patio. Some of the staff and security were kind and friendly. Nice kitchen and cooking facilities. Small mini shop for snacks.

Some of the staff, security, not so friendly. When walking in they stare at you, made me slightly uncomfortable. Also security came and asked us for our names when we were in the kitchen and checked it to the roster, was very weird as we used our cards to open the doors infront of her. Also there was no hot water in the showers for two days.

The private room was nice with a big bed, a desk and a chair, enough space to store luggage, and a TV.

I absolutely loved my stay at HI Los Angeles Santa Monica Hostel.

I stayed in a four bed room, and it was incredibly peaceful and comfortable. At the time, it was just me and another girl in the room, and she was very kind and respectful, which made the experience even better.

Everything was very clean, especially the bathroom, and I loved the shower. The water was perfectly hot and so relaxing after a long day walking around the city and the beach.

The staff was exceptional. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and very polite. The atmosphere felt safe, relaxed, and positive.

And the location honestly could not be better. Being so close to the beach and Santa Monica Pier made the whole experience unforgettable.

I even forgot my phone tripod there, which I use for my photos and videos, and they kindly kept it for me. They told me they hold lost items for about 30 days, so I will be able to pick it up when I return. I truly appreciated that care and professionalism.

I would definitely stay there again a thousand times.

Some of people that stayed there did respect the quiet hours. Nothing against the hostel.

The staff was available at all times. The beds were comfortable and had a night light at each bunk.
Lots of activities to choose from in the area. The beach is literally 1block away. The staff is helpful and friendly. I wished I stayed longer.

There was a bunk mate who kept turning the light 💡 on at 4am. Very annoying for the rest of us in the room.

It’s right next to the beach with great staff and many different facilities and daily different programs and activities such as comedy shows, tours and so on

Unfortunately there was no breakfast anymore like the last time I was there, but it has a kitchen very big with the possibility of store groceries in the fridge

No breakfast. Great location. Fantastic cooking facilities and organization of cupboard spaces and refrigerator spaces. The staff was excellent, friendly and helpful. Very nice to have coffee and tea available, as well as towels. Excellent beach supplies available. Great courtyard. Filtered water. Activities set up by the hostel. The best hostel that I have been to and I've been to a lot over the years.

the bed mattress was too soft. Not all were like that, but mine was like sinking into a nest.

The location is perfect ! It will take you about 5-10 mins to get to the beach. The hotel has all the facilities for cooking and they also have some activities for guests, the staff is friendly and helpful

The only disadvantage the cupboards don’t have lockers, bring yours

Great location, Bus 3 goes to and from LAX closeby. They have free events hosted too, I caught a stand-up comedy show which was fun. Facilities were nice, lots of places to sit and relax, rooms and bathrooms were clean.
