Ace Hotel Downtown, Los Angeles

It's going to depend on what you are looking for, but I loved my stay here. It's definitely minimalist. The bed was comfortable but low to the ground kind of futon like. I thought that the rooms had great light and I liked the whole overall vibe of the place. The coffee shop in the lobby was cool and even though the counter closes around lunch time I think, I made tea and took my book down there and read for a while anyway. I really liked the rooftop spot. It's too bad that the rooftop bar isn't open anymore, it was most likely a very cool place to hang out, but it was quiet and very chill. It's a modern no contact type of place, but the staff we did see and talk to was very nice.

Honestly - I liked all of it. There wasn't anything not to like for me. If you feel like you need a tall, lush, deep mattress and silence in your room then this may not be your place, but the room was really comfortable overall and I slept great. They even had a noise machine!

I loved the location, the comfortability of the room and the helpfulness of the staff. The rooftop was lovely and there was plenty of space in the lobby to work as well!

The TV in the unit was somewhat glitchy and one of the elevators was down which made for longer wait times, but overall nothing too bad

Great location for all things DTLA and nearby - room was clean, it was very quiet - liked the old hallway titles

Parking is extra in a nearby lot but you can drive up and drop oiff your luggage if you want

Bed was comfortable

Not enough towels, the shower did not have a curtain so the water went everywhere. Shower tile should be scrubbed because I saw moldy tiles in the corner. At 9:22 am, I was woken up by knocking. When I asked who it is, they started entering our door code to enter. I had to get out of bed and open the door and hotel staff/maid was walking away and didn’t apologize. Unacceptable. Parking should be comped from hotel, no parking on site and having to pay and walk to my car is likely a reason I wouldn’t stay again. Everything is too expensive

The location is great, a nice block surrounded by historic theaters in the Fashion District. I was attending a conference at the Convention Center and it was easy and convenient. We had dinner at Zinqué and it was delicious! Wish I could have seen the show at the adjacent UA theater, Cat Power was playing, but I had an early night. Also wish I could have shopped at Ganni, but work shmirk. Next time!!

The vibe is a little ‘elevated dorm room’ but honestly it was so comfortable and they have many nice finishes and amenities so I would stay again. Slept great, super comfortable.

No longer had valet & we hadn’t been notified. Restaurant only for breakfast.

The room had an interesting layout and decorum. We were on the eighth floor but could still feel the bass from the music coming from the rooftop bar on the weekend. The bed was average.

Of coarse parking is an issue. Though our son lives in the apartment building across the street, so we were able to have access to their facility.

The room was clean and comfortable, the location was perfect, the staff were friendly and helpful.

I am disappointed that the hotel will be replaced by an automated system.

Beautiful building with lots of character and a stunning rooftop.

Lifts are a tad slow, bathroom seem to missing a hook or two.

The name and location. Front desk staff was very nice.

It was very dark, bar wasn’t open very long. Security guard was rude.

I liked the overall experience with the stay.

The music in the Loam cafe. It was frustrating and annoying that the music wasn’t right. It was in the morning and we were going to have a relaxing start. The music was loud and too energetic that we both felt like we were in a cycling gym. So we couldn’t really enjoy being in the cafe.

The unique artwork around the hotel was fun!

The room needed more comfortable bedding, linens, pillows, blankets. The rug-like, rough blanket wasn’t comfortable.

The location is perfect. Parking and places to eat within walking distance.

The building is absolutely stunning, the room is spacious and bright, the bed was really comfy, the products as soup etc were amazing, the location is handy if you have to move around down town. Loved the views from the rooftop!

WC was stuck but after notifying them they did solve it. The regulator of the shower temperature is slightly tricky. The charges from the mini bar weren't correct. It feels like there is not very fluid internal communication between the staff as prior arriving they told me they were going to install a kettle on my room, they didn't. Same with the minibar inconvenience, luckily they solved that relatively fast. Still those are small details which one expects to be in order. The staff could be slightly friendlier

The room was very stylishly decorated with a great view.

A coffeemaker and iron in the room would have been the icing on the cake.

The room was a good size and beautifully designed, loved the little design details. The bathroom was great with nice toiletries. Room service was swift and food was delicious.

Neighbourhood felt a unsafe (especially at night), the noise could be at times quite loud, they didn't offer valet, unable to access the rooftop due to private event.

They kept my luggage for 3 days after checkout for only $5. The rooftop bar has an incredible view. The rooftop pool was not my thing, usually I'm using pools for chilling not for partying. The fitness room is very well equipped, I was able to do a full body functional / lifting workout.

The decor in the ace is always so understatedly chic, it’s easy on the eyes. The staff is always great. Food is yummy.

My room on the 4th floor was above a club so was unfortunately it was really loud at night.

The room was clean and the staff was very friendly.
