Downtown LA isn’t for everyone lol but we like it

Beautiful property with wonderfully friendly staff.

The room we were given was only ok. It was right next to the housekeeping closet so it was very noisy during the day. And the bathroom door squeaked horribly, which is a really easy fix and yet somehow housekeeping had not taken care of it. Our view was also of other rooms - we were close enough to just see right into other people’s rooms.

Room was really nice and something special. Restaurant highly recommendable.

High price for valet parking

1) The restaurant in the hotel is really good. Very delicious. 2) The hotel is pretty overall, the room is fine. 3) Full-size mirror always a plus! 4) Pretty nice rooftop! Very cute to take pictures. 5) Greeting was nice. Welcome drink and lots of perks!

1) Small room. 2) Downtown location. I would prefer to stay in some other area closer to main attractions. But if you specifically looking for that area, it’s a good choice.

The bar and restaurant are lovely. Staff in both were very friendly. Also the valet staff was friendly.

Our room was very small, cramped. Also, the upholstery on the loveseat was not clean. The hotel parking is really expensive, especially when you add in tips to the valets for retrieving your car to go anywhere. The rooftop bar closed early each of the three nights we were there. Perhaps because it was in February?

Decorated so beautifully and architecturally preserved with lots of care and style. The whole property exudes so much charm with quaint and quirky design surroundings. Lots of very good eateries and bars within walking distance.

the hotel staff was always welcoming and helping. the hotel amenities are well maintained and offer great value to the money you spend there.

Double the fees, I have paid tax but hotel colllect double, then after complaint they collect other fee which is not listed in the booking without explaination what the fee is.

The room was great, shower was spacious and had fabulous pressure. The bed was comfortable. We really enjoyed the rooftop bar and pool. Michael was an excellent, attentive server. Having 35$ food/ beverage voucher was good. The cafe had good coffee and pastries.

The strong odour in the entry/reception area. The ‘free dessert daily’ as part of resort fee was not good. We enquired and then received one dessert for the 2 of us. We were supposed to get free bottles of water, however, enquired three times and didn’t receive for 2 days.

The building is gorgeous. Rooms are very decent sized. Breakfast is good. Great design. The best was the staff though. I have stayed at dozens of properties in LA and in terms of service, Per La was BY FAR the best.

It’s Down Town. Nothing bad with it itself, but it is just far from the rest of the city. I took the chance since I stayed there during school holidays still. Traffic during normal days is even worse. Still, staying downtown has its charm. It is one of the few places in LA where you can walk places.

Hotel Perla is an absolutely gorgeous space, everywhere you look there are intricate details with a vintage charm. Our room was absolutely gorgeously decorated, every inch of the space was beautiful, the people were friendly, and it was a great location too!

There is a bathroom somewhere in the lobby close to the front desk, so there is a persistent humid smell of minty hand soap barely covering up the smell of people “dropping the kids off at the pool” if you know what I mean. If that weren’t the case the hotel would be absolutely perfect

Beautifully styled and decorated. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was quite good (we tried the breakfast and lunch menus). An elevated experience all around.

There was quite a bit of noise from one of the clubs below on the weekend, though I’m sure that’s hard to avoid anywhere in DTLA.

Booked 4 rooms for a girls’ quick weekend road trip. Comfortable beds, great amenities, clean rooms. Staff are all friendly and accommodating. It’s in the thick of downtown so make sure you are familiar with what that entails before booking. For us the location was convenient. They were throwing a day party on the rooftop that Sunday we arrived so the pool was pretty full but we enjoyed the music. Overall we loved our stay and look forward to booking again.

Several different room types on each floor meant we couldn’t all reserve rooms near each other, but this wasn’t much of an issue.

Our first day in the hotel was great. The rooftop is beautiful, they gave us $35 to consume and all staff was really friend.

It was too good to be true. We had only one day to enjoy LA, so we planned to go to Santa Monica in the morning and stay in the rooftop to enjoy the pool during the sunset. After a lot of traffic to get to the hotel in time to enjoy the rooftop, when we arrived, a wedding was happening there and the rooftop was close to guests. And nobody warned anything! We thought we would be able to enjoy the amenities that we paid for and we didn’t. As well as, when we went to eat in the hotel restaurant, the hostess was not friendly with us and we were not going to pay to be treated like that, so we went to another restaurant. And to finalize, the room phone was not working, so we had to go down to order food. We waited 40 minutes and the chicken wings that we ordered didn’t arrived. So I had to go down again to ask to receptionist why was taking so long, they didn’t had an answer and said it was going to take 20 more minutes. 1 hour just for a chicken wings, that when arrived, had no taste. In the end, they gave us some discount because of the inconveniences, but was not worthy for the time we lost.

Bed was very comfortable, and the staff very nice. Hotel decor is very pretty. The area where is located gives you the chance ti move around LA if you’re there on vacations.

During the night I wouldn’t walk alone around the hotel. The sidewalk around the hotel wasnt very clean

They had a private event happening when we arrived, this meant we could not use the restaurant and poolside bar was almost completely taken over as well.

Hotel and pool was nice. Downtown is not touristic, a lot of homeless people. You have to use private transportaion like car or taxi... On the rooftop its very nice...

I think the deposit you can use well for drinks on the bar or in the restaurant, but maybe it would happen otherwise too. Dont know if its needed...

Pool and hotel itself beautiful and staff were very helpful and friendly

Food at the restaurant was completely average and overpriced. $40 for a bowl of pasta that was pretty flavourless. We ordered room service one night and it was disgusting which was so disappointing. The chicken and avocado sandwich felt like it had been dipped in oil before serving. For the prices and a 5 star hotel, the food options were extremely poor overall.

I used this hotel on my honeymoon.It was photogenic everywhere. The room was clean and had a nice bathtub.

The fridge was not very cold.

Great location, plenty of public transportation nearby and at walking distance from downtown. The rooftop! Pool, bar, fantastic LA views - make sure to stop by there at night.

There were some elements missing in my opinion - service and details (e.g. carrying your bags and showing you to the room; flawless and delicious restaurant experience; making sure there are no surprises with the amenity fees at checkout, high quality bed linens with no holes) that make it a superb experience is what typically stands 5-star hotels out from 4-star and this one did not impress me. I would consider Hotel Per La a good 4-star hotel rather than 5-star. They defo charge you as a 5-star!

The hotel has been beautifully restored. The dining room is gorgeous, and the pool and rooftop are landscaped and have a great view of downtown LA. The rooms are exactly as they appear in photos and are comfy. Pool is small but has great hours, so you can have it to yourself. I had breakfast every day in the restaurant because the food was superb. Don't miss the chilaquiles verdes! Also, this hotel was NOT struck or boycotted by the hotel workers, which I appreciated.

Service, while friendly, needed fine-tuning. The tea kettle and cup I requested weren't delivered - twice. And there was no robe, a usual amenity in a good hotel. There's a DJ on Saturday night on the roof which makes rooms noisy.

Hotel itself was really good but most of the staff wasnt friendly. With five star hotel you are expecting more of service. We came here to celebrate our birthday and they didnt take it to account in anyway.

Great rooftop pool with a good bar/restaurant for a beer and a bite to eat. Really good 24hr gym too. Great and friendly staff.

Had to request coffee machine (which was brought up promptly) but would have been a good addition to the room.

My room was very nice with a street view and bathtub. Really enjoyed breakfast in the spacious dining area. (The breakfast staff was exceptional.) Also enjoyed visiting the rooftop. The downtown location was really good for me.

The receptionists sometimes get backed up with guests checking in and out. The process is not streamlined. I don't believe this hotel should charge a daily resort fee. A number of guests had billing issues. Evidently, the hotel's system did not know that I had upgraded my room reservation, so I needed to change rooms. To get to 5 Stars, this hotel needs to get a lot of little things right.

The attention to detail. Great vibe in the rooms, they took care of modern necessities with a nostalgic touch. Amazing rooftop bar and staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The cafe was delicious!! I also found the decor to be so chic, truly beautiful hotel.

I didn’t love the hidden fees that came up. After reviewing the website I did see there was the $$/day for amenities at the hotel, and there is city tax.

Beautiful design and spacious rooms, with super comfortable beds and lots of day light. The rooftop is amazing and the hotel has lots of areas to work as well as relax. The food is also great.

I wouldnt recommend to walk around and wander in downtown LA but everyhting is more than fine by car.

The property was good in general. Only thing that caught my attention was that around the lobby there was a faul smell at all times. But that was the only place that smell remained. Other than that all was great!
