St. Pancras Hotel, London
The St. Pancras Hotel is a masterpiece of Victorian Gothic architecture, instantly recognizable by its dramatic red-brick facade and towering spires. Originally opened in 1873 as the Midland Grand Hotel, it was designed by the celebrated architect Sir George Gilbert Scott to serve as a luxurious gateway for railway travelers. After falling into decline for decades, the building underwent a meticulous restoration to reopen as a five-star hotel in 2011, successfully merging its rich history with modern luxury.
One of the hotel’s most famous features is its breathtaking Grand Staircase, an intricate work of craftsmanship that perfectly captures the building’s regal spirit. The hotel has also become a cultural icon in its own right, famously appearing as a backdrop in the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” music video and serving as the exterior for King’s Cross station in the Harry Potter film franchise.
Beyond its own walls, the hotel is perfectly positioned for exploring London’s literary and cultural scene. The British Library, home to the Magna Carta and priceless historical manuscripts, is just a short stroll away. Fans of pop culture will also enjoy being right next door to King’s Cross station, where you can visit the iconic Platform 9¾.
The surrounding King’s Cross area has undergone a major transformation, offering everything from the scenic Regent’s Canal towpath to the upscale shops at Coal Drops Yard. Whether you are catching a Eurostar train from the adjacent international terminal or simply visiting to admire the station’s legendary iron-and-glass roof, the hotel remains a stunning architectural treasure.
Expert reviews
“St. Pancras first opened as the Midland Grand Hotel in 1873, it reopened in 2011 after a comprehensive renovation. Now it’s one of the grandest hotels in London. The double-height Chambers Suites offer mesmerizing views right into the station.”
Featured in New York Times’ 36 Hours in King’s Cross, London.
“The St. Pancras is easily one of London’s most recognizable hotels. The massive Gothic red brick façade with signature soaring spires was originally opened in 1873 as the Midland Grand Hotel, and was built alongside the St. Pancras train station.”

Overpriced given the service
Great location for getting around London and also for arriving I. London into Kings Cross station.
The Booking Office bar was a particular highlight.
Our experience of the staff wasn’t great. Not friendly at all really and, when we checked out, we weren’t even asked how our stay was. A small thing maybe but, when paying almost £700 for two night stay for what is meant to be a 5 star experience, these things count.
In our second day, the say our room had been serviced, the tea and coffee station in the room was left unreplenished and the mugs not cleaned. We called room service and explained. Someone visited the room and we had to repeat the issue to him again. He disappeared, came back with tea, coffee and milk, but no clean cups and we had to offer to clean them ourselves in our bathroom sink which he accepted instead of coming back with clean ones.
Again, one could argue this is a small issue, but it’s classed as a 5 star hotel and this attention to detail and response to issues raised are the things that matter.

Not as good as it should have been.
We got an upgrade to a quiet room which was new and spotless. The view (brick wall) wasn't up to much but we were warned about that by the receptionist.
The TV didn't work and the shower head was pointing at the ceiling and took considerable effort to get it to point at the shower and me.

We love this hotel but not our room on this occasion.
Exceptional reception staff in an ideal location for the Eurostar
The ventilation in the bedroom was woefully inadequate - noisy and not able to be set below 18.5 degrees!

Incredible architecture and very efficient helpful staff who were always on hand.

A very nice historical hotel in a lovely locations. Lovely outside and in.
The location is in the station so excellent for when you get off the train with your luggage. Just walk right down to the end upstairs. The hotel itself is very inviting and clean and friendly. The staff were lovely and were very helpful in the main. Beautiful reception/bar area - lots of light and space. Our room was in Barlow House and was a deluxe King room so we did have plenty of space. Comfy bed. Nice bathroom. Our view was of the British Library so not bad at all. We did enjoy our 2 night break.
I raised a small problem on checking out and it was completely ignored. Receptionist couldn't even apologise for it. I expected more to be honest. I would also like a kettle in the room for making tea. Coffee machines don't really make tea. The water comes through the same spot as the coffee so you always get remains of the last coffee in the water. Not the fault of the hotel, it's the machine but a kettle would solve this. Not sure if you would have provided one if I asked.

A luxurious London stopover with great access to Eurostar service.
Restored architecture. Good food. The Booking Office was a lovely location for breakfast and lunch. Champagne welcome.
Being very picky, the doors to the kitchens were left open while being painted. I'm sure it was only a temporary issue.

Pleasant, comfortable and convenient 👍
Building, staff and location
Kitchen door always open to public areas (noise and smell)

The location is perfect and the building is magnificent.
Location, welcoming, courteous, attentive and accommodating staff.
I was on the 6th floor on the windward side of the building for my night’s stay; not at all the property’s fault or anything that could be addressed but that particular night there was torrential rain and a fierce gale which seemed to blow perpendicular to the wall causing it to creak and wail like the timbers of an old Napoleonic ship. It kept me awake for a while until the wind abated.

Booked as a treat, but slightly disappointed
Booked as a treat, always wanted to stay in the building, so close to Eurostar for travelling to Paris the next day
The shower head in the bathroom, it was of a poor design, with the water not spraying directly at you but to the side and the hose did not allow for it to be straightened. Would not have expected such a poor design in a hotel of this calibre, and the cost of the room

Outstanding Architecture and access to Eurostar and an easy walk from Euston

Perfect location for breaking my journey when I travel from north to south and vice versa.
Elegant without being stuffy. Friendly staff, quiet comfortable room, and a good night's sleep. Excellent breakfast in beautiful surroundings - no trawling around the usual buffet. At table service with an extensive menu/range of options and an attentive team. I've stayed before and will no doubt stay again.
Pricey compared to another central London hotel that I had stayed at for a couple of nights immediately prior to arriving at St Pancras, which was every bit as elegant, quiet, comfortable, friendly and cleaner.

Great stay in an amazing location
Amazing location, the service was great, everyone we met was super helpful and very friendly. The breakfast was delicious and the lobby was a lovely place to sit.
The spa and room was basic, the bathroom had been upgraded so that was lovely but the room felt dark, although a good size the bed wasnt very comfortable. The spa was okay, nice to have but nothing amazing, been to better.

ST PANCRAS PUNCHES ABOVE ITS WEIGHT.
Breakfast was our only negative. Despite staying at the hotel we watched as several walkins get a better table then us and what was more annoying was having a couple put right next to us even though there was alot more room available . Asked for white of egg to be well cooked firm and that didn't happen. Our wait person was lovely but didn't find the hostess welcoming. MARCH 2
As you can see from the above we only had one negative, the rest of the experience and staff members were lovely, Drink on arrival was a nice touch building and location were perfect as we were taking the Euro star.

Stylish, beautiful unique hotel in great location.
Everything, such a unique hotel.
Needed some discrete space for booked hotel guests to relax eg a specific lounge/bar not shared with the public.

Nice public areas - not so nice rooms
The building itself is beautiful as are the bars and restaurants, it was an experience staying there and easy for an early morning Eurostar.
Very over priced for what you get. The room was no better than a premier inn and certainly not what I expect from a 5* hotel. The room was dark and dingy with a small window. Was a disappointment to the start of a special trip. £250 for what was basically 2 small starters 2 steak and chips and 2desserts Spa also closed!

A wonderful weekend in a beautiful hotel
Luxurious surroundings but not a stuffy atmosphere
The pool was not available unfortunately

Beautiful Hotel, especially the older parts of the building
Beautiful room-after I contacted reception. We had stayed at the hotel once before (in 2012!) and the room we were initially allocated was not the one I had selected in the Booking.com info. I particularly wanted a room with a view over the station.
The staff were very helpful and rearranged our room. This was in the Barlow Chambers section of the hotel
I was notified just the day before our arrival that the previously included Barlow Chambers facilities were no longer offered by the hotel ( under new management). This was very disappointing as it had made our previous trip extra special.
Breakfast choice was limited (no buffet) and extremely expensive-not good value for money. I would have preferred to have my breakfast at the local Prêt à Manger. Their cinnamon rolls are far superior to those at St Pancras!

Some good, some bad
Beautiful building, lovely room and comfortable bed. Amazing spa experience.
The customer service was poor for a high end hotel . Check in was slow and disorganised. Nobody answers the phone from your room. We called about 15 times until someone finally picked up.

Great building and location. Services need refining.
The building is beautiful. The public areas are great.
We had two rooms, one was a suite. Noise from the underground was pretty loud and unfortunately the team at the hotel couldn't do anything to solve the issue - which may arise often.
The second room was in a different wing and was underwhelming considering the standard of property.
Booking Office and lobby area are lovely spaces, however the whole place is just lacking the service that other 5* properties provide.

Breakfast offering is disappointing as is the general F&B offering, having said that we only had breakfast and coffee in the lobby area.

Bliss in central London - pool, jacuzzi, hammam and sauna combined with beautiful architecture!
Beautiful architecture and divine spa and great location! Large comfortable room with a little Christmas present waiting and great views from the three beautiful arched windows. The hotel is a visual delight!
The sink in the bathroom drained very slowly and the plug in the bath didn't close properly. Otherwise everything was perfect!

Excellent Christmas Holiday
Food over the Christmas holiday was excellent
Was initially put in the farthest room away from the lift despite asking for a room near the lift as I have a broken back

Not what I would expect for the price that we paid
The location, the service, the architecture
We were upgraded to a club room which initially was exciting & the room was beautiful with an amazing view over the station. But the curtains didn’t close properly so there was light from the station coming in all night, the shower (over the bath)was hard to get into & the water went cold after 2 mins so I had to get out & there was no socket for my phone charger next to the bed.

Classic venue, but ultimate a high volume chain experience.
Check in staff were excellent, house keeping also great.
Room exceptional dark with no enough lights. I really didn't like that I was only allowed to stay in the reception area for maximum 1 hour on day of departure before they had to give my table to some body else. Felt very far from a five star experience.

Historic hotel in a great location but needs to put the customer first
Location styling of hotel. Large comfortable rooms. Access to train station
Poor timing for kids pool hours which restricted their access. Service in bar and lounge area terrible. The only warm and friendly staff members was a cleaning lady and a doorman. All other staff members was standoffish, impersonal and inattentive.
