St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel, London

Euston Road, Camden, London, NW1 2AR, United Kingdom (show on map)

Expert reviews

New York Times review:

“St. Pancras Renaissance first opened as the Midland Grand Hotel in 1873, it reopened in 2011 after a comprehensive renovation. Now it’s one of the grandest hotels in London. The double-height Chambers Suites offer mesmerizing views right into the station.”

Featured in New York Times’ 36 Hours in King’s Cross, London.

Forbes review:

“The St. Pancras Renaissance is easily one of London’s most recognizable hotels. The massive Gothic red brick façade with signature soaring spires was originally opened in 1873 as the Midland Grand Hotel, and was built alongside the St. Pancras train station.”

Beautiful stay in historic building

The hotel itself is a really beautiful building and they upgraded our room which was a really lovely touch. The pool facilities are beautiful. I would def stay here again.

The breakfast was chaos. They had guests queuing down the hallway and food and dirty plates flying past. It seemed that they couldn't clear the tables fast enough so the poor lady doing the seating was having to clear and relay tables before she could seat people. For a hotel of this calibre you'd expect them to get this sorted out, even if they had just one person clearing tables. It was so bad we took matters in to our own hands and sat at a dirty table. Very poor show. However once seated Alex the supervisor and his team made a great effort of looking after us to make up for the initial chaos and the quality of the food was excellent. For newly refurbished rooms on the 6th floor the heating control looked very dated and was totally unusable, which meant we were quite cold.

Very comfortable, great location. Lacked the finesse expected for the price.

Breakfast was good, adequate selection, quick service. Great location for our train travel

Cleanliness of the room, dust on ventilators. Limited supplies of tea bags. Introduction to the room facilities was absent and necessary.

Escapism away from the hustle and bustle of London, in a classically built hotel.

The hotel was luxurious and beautiful. The food was delicious and different. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The only thing we could fault really, were the pillows. It would be good and I think important to have soft, middle and firmer pillows for people like us who struggle with their necks.

apart from the disappointment arising from your misleading website information, I really enjoyed my

I had understood from your website I was booking a room in the old classic part of the hotel, not in the standard new wing. This was a major disappointment resulting from the misleading images on YOUR website. I have no issue with the hotel on this but I paid more than I would have done if I had known I was being placed in the modern wing.

The back isn't anything like as fancy as the front

Staff were nice

Actual room is a bit tired and like a middle-of-the-road 80s hotel room that hasn't changed much.

A world class venue that we wanted to experience - very glad we did!

The location and atmosphere were second to none in a stunning building.

The rooms were small for a family. We’d booked for 4 of us but we had only enough towels, robes etc for 3.

Beautiful lobby, history and conveniently close to trains.

A train lovers dream, accommodating staff, beautiful design and decor.

We were only here for a minute and there’s so much history it was difficult to easily find a list of the different amenities/room service/hours etc.

Nice hotel and location but cleanliness lacked for the nightly price.

Location is excellent and the hotel lobby and bar area are beautiful and a great first impression. Staff were all helpful and friendly.

Room was comfortable and spacious for London. Our shower had hair in it which was a surprise based on the nightly rate.

Fabulous building and setting, excellent service but room a little diappointing

The staff are highly trained, polite and very helpful. Fantastic building and architecture and lots of historical interest. Afternoon tea session was fantastic.

Our room although a reasonable size, was a little underwhelming for what is costs, in particular the small pillar box unopenable window was more akin to a room in a Travelodge, which did take the polish off of our stay.

Fabulous

Amazing - everything you expect from a 5* hotel and at this price point.

The lifts were limited and slow and shared a walkway with the kitchen so was a little awkward / not as pleasant as the rest of the hotel.

Historic and convenient

The location is excellent for transport links and to Coal Drop Yard so lots of choice of restaurants. It is a beautiful historic building with friendly staff. The Box Office is quite unique and the food was lovely. Spa facilities are good.

The room in the Barlow was comfortable but dark. Generally the carpets in the main entrance and lobby are tired.

Not good for the cost at all but is still at least worth a visit just don’t bother to stay here

It’s a beautifully refurbished building and my room was comfortable but hardly “superior” which was what I booked.

I found the ‘ambient lighting’ in the restaurant far too low I could barely read the menu and the full English breakfast I had was inedible! TV in room didn’t work so I had to call for an engineer to fix, shower pressure was very poor and the ironing board cover was so thin my trousers got marked with the metal grid pattern.

Enjoyable, eventually. Be careful which room you book.

Fantastic building in a great location.

Our first room in the original building was very tired and in need of some tlc. We asked to be moved and were eventually given a refurbished room in the Barlow wing which was much better.

Nice high end hotel, but in

The staff were very attentive, the location was perfect (for the Eurostar, anyway).

The room looked a little tired. Upholstery (the chair) had stains on it and so did the carpet. It was still to a good standard but for the price wasn’t worth the room rate.

Excellent location, great staff, fabulous food but a bit pricey for the rooms.

The staff were all lovely, very friendly but professional. The breakfast was delicious, as were the cocktails ☺️

I thought the room size was great but the room itself felt dated. I expected better for the price.

Apart from check-in , a very good stay but the hotel should work on its first impressions.

The venue and room were excellent and the restaurant was also good.

Check-in was slow, complicated and not very well organised. We checked in early, left our bags and came back for our key. It was ready but the staff were unavailable or inattentive (one had a computer problem and fiddled with that rather than paying any attention to us).

Beautiful location and building but room for improvement.

The rooms and setting are beautiful (we always stay in the older wing of the hotel) and the bar has a good menu and the restaurants are very convenient.

Check in was extremely slow in a very hot atrium and we didn't find the staff particularly helpful at all. I also haven't found them of any assistance with lost property. It had deteriorated in that sense since our last stay.
