Santiago de Alfama Boutique Hotel, Lisbon

From our check-in to meeting Rita, having a short tour of the hotel, our perfect room, the view, the location, and every interaction with all the staff members we felt very much at home and extremely welcomed and comfortable.

There was nothing negative about our stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff went above and beyond all expectations and made our stay one that was memorable and one we will always cherish. We will recommend this hotel to all of our friends.

Everything! The history, ambiance, coziness, intimacy, decor, food, cocktails…all wonderful.

The staff are exceptionally professional, attentive, personable — They made the experience count.

Nothing negative to share, although the next time, we will book a larger room with a tub and bidet.

From the moment we arrived, the personal attention was exceptional, and the amazing, highly professional staff captured all our demanding requests effortlessly. Even our out-of-menu request at the restaurant was accommodated with a smile, and the food was outstanding. Our room was incredible, with a wonderfully comfortable bed, and the beauty center is one of the best I’ve ever experienced. Combined with its perfect location in the heart of Alfama, it made for the ultimate romantic escape.

It was absolutely beautiful. The decor was gorgeous. The view from the window was a picture perfect postcard of Lisbon. It’s a truly special hotel. The staff were amazing too. There is no better place to stay and experience the beauty of Alfama.

Great location for sightseeing. Lovely bar, food at the restaurant was tasty and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The treatments from The Beauty Bar was exceptional!!!

Our bedroom (305) looked out onto the courtyard and into the windows of other rooms. We only had black out curtains in our room which meant we spent our 3 days with the curtains shut for privacy which made the room feel dark. A privacy curtain or blind in the bedroom and bathroom would of made a big difference with the feel of the room

We were so happy to stay at this jewel of a boutique hotel! We splurged since it was our 25th anniversary trip and were so glad to stay in the Alfama for our Lisbon leg of our trip.
Super friendly and knowledgeable concierge staff welcomed us and stored our luggage while we ate breakfast outside at the hotel's restaurant, Audrey's. We had an early arrival, so we walked up to the castle before our room was ready. They gave us a map of Lisbon & explained the highlights of each neighborhood.
Had a drink at their fabulous bar, amazing.
Our room had beautiful views and was very comfortable. Literally didn't want to leave. We loved coming back to our hotel each evening after touring and also loved walking the neighborhood around the hotel.
Each space of the hotel was beautiful & uniquely designed. Excellent staff all around.

I could easily write about everything at Santiago de Alfama: the food, the rooms, the architecture, the location. But this time I want to focus only on the staff, because that’s the real heart of this hotel.

From the very first moment, the welcome at reception was the warmest we’ve ever had. And not just because we were offered a glass of ginjinha (the local cherry liquor), but because the receptionist truly welcomed us as if we were coming home. Fittingly, the map of Lisbon we received had the hotel pinned under the label “home.” That little detail says it all. Even more impressive, every recommendation from the receptionists was spot on. It felt as if they knew exactly what we were looking for, never just pointing us to the top restaurants by default but listening carefully and suggesting things like a good friend who knows your taste.

At breakfast, the waitress somehow guessed exactly the coffee I wanted in the morning without me even asking. Add to that the morning view from the garden while sipping that coffee, with everyone smiling and setting you up perfectly for the day, it felt like pure joy.

After a long day of sightseeing, the bar was on a completely different level. The guys there are natural conversationalists, never pushy, always friendly, and genuinely interested in your taste. Like spending time with great pals.

Even the people you rarely see made an impression. A cleaning lady asked us how our stay was and whether everything was fine, something I’ve never experienced before. And those we didn’t meet, the chefs and cooks, deserve a special mention too. Calling their late-night dishes “snacks” would be an insult; they were true masterpieces.

Santiago de Alfama is not just a hotel, it is a place that treats you as someone special. There are hotels, and then there is Santiago de Alfama.

The hotel was tucked away on a side street providing shelter from the Alfama crowds while being steps away from all the sites Alfama has to offer. The Hotel offers a bar and restaurant as well as access to an outdoor cafe with extremely courteous and attentive staff.

No problems with the hotel, but if you are unfamiliar with Alfama be prepared for steep hills and lots of walking if you plan on visiting other sites in Lisbon by foot. The area, however, offered lots of Tuk-tuks and other modes of transportation.

The location is just perfect, the staff was all super helpful and friendly. The rooms were just perfect for size and comfort, you’ll be in the best neighborhood, especially morning and night when there’s not a lot of crowd.

The property was lovely. Staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. Our room had an incredible view of the area. Windows opened to receive the amazing ocean breezes.

A historic building renovated in a most successful way. Kept the charm but with modern amenities.

They give out vouchers for free drinks at the hotel bar, but it is quite obscure what exactly the vouchers get you and from which menu. At first sounds as any drink is free, but then turns out not to be so.

This an actual boutique hotel. Staff are amazing, breakfast is delish. Look no further

If I had to be super picky - my wife didn’t like the shampoo and body wash combo. Definitely scope to supply separate products

The staff communication and assistance was top notch. Our flight was delayed getting in and they arranged our transfer from the airport very late and greeted us at the door with smiles. The breakfast was the best of our entire two week trip and the staff was wonderful. Highly recommend the Turkish Eggs for breakfast. Our room was dreamy, with a window opening to the sunrise. The bed and linens were luxurious; we slept like babies. The architecture, design, and furnishings were gorgeous. Every morning we had detox water available in the lobby and in the evenings, a drink in the plush bar after walking around town. The location was central and it was an easy walk to the castle. Lots of restaurants in the area. The staff was hands down the best. They made the whole stay extraordinary.

Great location. Beautiful, historic building. Rooms have real character with antique furnishings and thoughtful decor combined with immaculate modern facilities. Staff were unfailingly friendly and obliging. Cocktail bar is outstanding and the shaded patio restaurant (on a quiet, access-controlled street) is a great place to kill a bottle of rosé on a sunny day.

Good location for Alfama, comfortable beds, wonderful staff, great breakfast of wonderful options. Big bathrooms. Very clean. A block from a beautiful mirador and places to hang out and have drinks.

Old town can be crowded with tourists and our room had no view. Awkward layout but still comfortable. Hard sometimes for taxis to get to us for transfers.

All excellent, staff incredibly friendly. Cocktail bar was fantastic. Location was perfect, very quiet and away from the chaos of Lisbon.

Confusion over the free airport transfer - have been charged €60 when the airport transfer was included in the price. Reported to hotel and they are investigating.

Breakfast was amazing! The room was very comfortable and the staff was excellent-extremely helpful and everyone was very quite friendly. We highly recommend this hotel to all.

The only problem we had was that our first night the staff recommended a local restaurant just around the corner and that restaurant was terrible. Everything at the hotel, however, was great.

The breakfast was amazing. So civilised. Just order from the menu and they bring it with smiles and courtesy. Love the fresh fruit juices (seasonal), love the porridge and I tested their poached eggs. Really good! The dinner was also amazing. Loved it. We got lucky with the bedroom, it overlooks the courtyard so it was lovely and quiet. So nice to wake up to the morning sun - this is even though it was a wet weekend when I got there. Plus the location was perfect.

Cannot really complain. The staff were so lovely and polite. I needed extra sheets one evening and they provided with no fuss at all. If there was one thing i would say I was disappointed I couldn't buy their Claus Porto hand wash, which was out of stock at the time.

This boutique hotel is in a beautiful, historic, building, in the heart of the Alfama, overlooking the sea. The facilities are lovely: the public spaces are tasteful with interesting paintings and photographs; there’s a fun cocktail bar, a restaurant and a café cum breakfast room, as well as a spa that we didn’t make use of. Our bedroom was spacious, calming and had a lovely view of the sea. Service was friendly throughout and the breakfasts were generous and made to order.

Everyone on staff was amazing and helpful. They went out of their way to provide the highest level of service. The location was perfect for us, and the neighborhoods afforded easy access to many great restaurants.

Because they use dark, moody colors, it is a little dark in the place.

Location was great in Alfama and staff were so helpful especially Guilherme .We were upgraded and then upgraded again to a marvellous suite with extensive windows with views over the sea !-

Amazing breakfast. Great location near restaurants. Walking distance to shopping areas. Enjoyed going just across the street from the hotel to see sunrise. Last but not least, the hotel staff were wonderful, friendly, attentive, and full of advice and suggestions for how we could most enjoy our time in Lisbon.

I wished there was a fitness center. However the staff recommended a number of places nearby. Otherwise it was great.

The Staff were the best I have ever met in any hotel. I was made to feel so welcome & cared for.

The toilet in the bathroom was very low - if I hadn’t worked with a Personal Trainer doing squats with 10k kettle bell I would have struggled to get up.

Everything. From the moment we arrived, Ruben and his colleague checked us in. Before we knew it, our baggage was already in our room, which they upgraded. This was a very nice touch for my wife's 60th birthday. We loved the hotel and its history, and the staff (all) were amazing. Thank you! A special thank you to Ruben and the Concierge Team, Martin - Thanks for showing us the extension of the hotel coming up in 4 years or so (please invite us to the opening :) and of course Bruno from the Bar for making our evenings special and memorable, especially for wife birthday. Very kind! Best Barman in Lisbon!
