The Pestana Palace Lisboa is amazing. The staff is kind, friendly and always ready to go the extra mile. Every part of our visit felt incredible.

The food and service were excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the overall service, cleanliness and comfort were excellent.

There wasnt anything i didnt like at the hotel.

Amazing stay. You truly feel special here. The mix between a historic palace and a modern hotel is extremely well done - you are literally sleeping in the middle of history while enjoying all the comfort of a high-end luxury hotel. The old palace with its beautiful details, the gardens, and the overall atmosphere are something truly unique, yet everything feels relaxed and never stiff or formal. A big plus: very child- and family-friendly without being noisy or chaotic. Attentive service, quiet rooms, and an overall feeling of comfort from the moment you arrive. Definitely one of those hotels you will remember for a long time. Occasionally you can see or hear an airplane, which our child actually enjoyed even more.

While the rooms could benefit from some upgrade, it was a delight to be in such a marvellous palace. The breakfast is a unique experience in these magnificent dining halls, with beautiful stuccos, painted high ceilings and stunning bow-windows to the idyllic gardens. The staff was kind and helpful, and made us experience a memorable though improvised new year's eve.

The equipment in the room needs some improvement. The very basic hairdryers on the wall have no place in a five stars hotel and the shower in the bath tub was very basic too. We sorely missed a kettle.

The staff is marvelous! We are recurring guests. I could write sonnets about those amazing pillows too

We recently stayed at this hotel and overall we were very satisfied with our experience. The staff truly deserves special praise: everyone was extremely friendly, very helpful, and always greeted us with a warm smile. No effort ever seemed too much, and the team was always ready to assist whenever needed. The breakfast was another highlight of our stay. It was very extensive, offering a wide variety of options with plenty of fresh products. The only minor remark regarding breakfast is that the room where it is served can feel quite cold on winter mornings. This is understandable, however, as the hotel is located in a very old building that appears difficult to heat properly, with occasional cold drafts. Apart from that, we have no further complaints. It is important to keep in mind that this is a historic building, and with its charm also come some inevitable limitations. For example, there are relatively few power outlets in the room, which can sometimes be a bit inconvenient. We would also like to mention that, on a personal note, we are not great fans of hotel rooms with wall-to-wall carpeting. This is mainly for hygienic and especially for allergy-related reasons, but we fully understand that this is a matter of personal preference. All in all, we enjoyed our visit and left the hotel feeling satisfied.

This was the most fantastic stay ever, beautiful,classic hotel and garden with fantastic Staff; extremely helpful and pleasant, great facilities ( pool, trainning etc). Fabulous breakfast and piano bar too. What more can one ask for?

A bit far from the center

Nice and charming hotel. A little but far from downtown Lisbon.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this amazing hotel with irreproachable service. Even though it is located at a distance from major tourist attractions, we found it very convenient to discover Lisbon from there mainly using a tram connection while our car was conveniently parked at the hotel’s vast parking. The interiors of the hotel are impressive and make you feel in a “belle epoque”. The room was comfortable and clean. We would also mark out the friendliness of staff who where there to support us whenever needed.

The decor and staff were exceptional and made us feel very special We had some minor problems on the first day but the way both Paula and Bernardo went above and beyond to solve them was first class I would like both booking.com and The Pestana Palace to be aware that these two members of staff were a credit to the hotel That being said every other member of staff was of the highest standard, it was just that Paula and Bernardo made sure our every need was met Well done

Our stay at the hotel was absolutely unforgettable. The place truly feels like a real palace — every detail, from the stunning decor to the luxurious fabrics, exudes elegance and history. Service was amazing, making us feel genuinely cared for. Breakfast was a highlight — beautifully presented, varied, and absolutely delicious each day. Everything was of the highest quality, and we especially loved the subtle, beautiful scent that filled the hotel and the wonderful music that created such a refined atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back — it’s a truly magical place.

The staff truly makes the difference for your stay. From Tiago and Luc for being a historical expert of the city while driving the shuttle, to Lara and Lays and Ana for the excellent service during breakfast and diner, and Maria and Paula for the warmest hostesses.

Beautiful property. Well laid out and stunningly decorated. Free Champagne on arrival. Amazing spa, the best Massage I have ever had.

The food in the hotel restaurants were sub par for the cost. Much better to eat out in Lisbon. The buffet breakfast was amazing though. Got food poisoning from poorly stored tuna and was admitted to hospital.

Beautiful grounds and building. Room also very comfortable. Staff were generally very friendly.

It’s nearly perfect hotel, but it lacks attention to details sometimes. At this price point and being a 5* property, those details matter, like clearing plates at the bar promptly. Also annoying how it prioritises events over guests. Wasn’t able to eat lunch at the terrace because of a wedding in the dining room, absurd.

Gorgeous historical palace with lovely on site Thai restaurant in a fabulous structure.

The location is not great. It is very far from center city where all the bars and restaurants are located and a serious hoof it up a hill from where the buses run. Only one trolly line goes up the hill.

The peaceful location and gardens. The leisure facilities particularly the indoor pool. The splendid palace interior.

The breakfast offered a wonderful variety, including a fine selection of fruits. While my personal favorites, such as passionfruit and figs, weren't always available, the overall quality was excellent. The hotel itself is impeccably clean and tastefully decorated. The staff were uniformly helpful, nevertheless there is a group of people that truly stood out for their exceptional performance: Diogo (Reception); Débora Fontes (Breakfast and Pool Area); Vera Costa (Breakfast hostess); Evelyn (Breakfast); Bernardo Mora (Pool Area); Carolina Saraiva (Reception) and Hálio (Bellman). Their attention to detail, caring nature, and delightful combination of professionalism and good humor were truly commendable. A warm thank you to this specific staff members, you were outstanding.

One suggestion for an enhancement would be the addition of an adults-only outdoor pool. One exterior pool is not enough for the size of this palace. During the first three days of our stay, the main pool was unfortunately unusable as the water had become cloudy from high occupancy and had visible particles, very unpleasant. A dedicated adult area would provide a more tranquil alternative. Furthermore, a wonderful addition to this beautiful palace would be a library or a reading room. A curated collection of books would offer guests a delightful way to unwind and would perfectly complement the hotel's elegant ambiance.

There is not one public space in the hotel where there is no music. It is rather present. Not necesarry. Meddium quality speakers

The Electric charge still Not Fix but the Garage staff help to charge from Outside the hotel. Thanks indeed for the Garage staff. ( It’s 2nd time about this issue. )

Spacious room with excellent housekeeping service. Having both indoor and outdoor pools was great. Lovely grounds and the main, historic building is amazing. Breakfast is fabulous - great choice and sitting in the grand dining area was very special. We loved our stay at Pestana Palace Lisboa.

Check in was a bit of a long and chaotic process. Our bags didn't appear in our room so my husband went and got them. Not a problem for us as we prefer to take our own luggage to the room and not have the faffing around of luggage being delivered but some guests might want a more streamline check in and luggage service.

Pool area is beautiful and receives sun throughout the day. It’s lovely having access to grand rooms in the palace. Service was excellent and all staff were delightful!

Cooked breakfast (bacon, eggs etc) was cold on all 3 mornings we dined.

What a wonderful hotel. We ended our long trip in Portugal by staying here for the last few days, and it was absolutely perfect. Everything was beautiful, making it truly a five-star experience that we will remember for a long time. The ambient music and the hotel itself were so impressive that they alone are worth a tour.

The only negative point was the bed in our room. It was extremely soft and flexible, so every time my wife moved, I felt the bed vibrating, and vice versa. It was a shame, because the sheets and pillows were very comfortable.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel dripping with history, just on the outskirts of Lisbon. Beautiful pool area and grounds. Easy access to the centre via Uber or Taxi, which was only around 5 or 6 euros. First class treatment at reception and upon arrival. Delicious breakfast buffet on the grounds.

Drinks were on the expensive side for Lisbon, but what I really didn't like was the fact they then also added a service charge without asking each time of 10-12% (I can't remember exactly the percentage). Coming from Spain we knew this is not the norm, and felt like they were taking advantage of their guests by sneaking it in there. Pretty sure diners at the Lake House would not notice and then add a tip on top as well. It just detracted slightly from the otherwise perfect experience, an unnecessary step as their patrons would most likely tip generously anyway.

Decoration and atmosphere

It’s a stunning property. Beautiful inside and outside. Loved the paintings on the walls, the old carriage, the breakfast was amazing. The rooms were cozy and nicely decorated. The beds were comfortable. Most of the personnel were friendly and apparently had been on a customer management course so well done.

The breakfast cue was chaotic and disorganised. They could ask people the day before to confirm times so they can allocate people to the respective busy times. When we finally got a table after 20 min we saw many empty tables and quite a few people walking around so it was a question of organisation. Outside they were not able to accommodate families over 4 people, why not try?
