Bed & Breakfast Casa do Principe, Lisbon
Expert reviews
“Some guests check into this B&B and stay for months. No surprise: the nine rooms are palatial, with floor-to-ceiling windows and period features, but sweetly homely. And its location, in well-to-do Principe Real, is central but tranquil.”
“Perfectly located, exquisitely restored and priced to shock, this new nine-room B&B is housed inside what once was the same 19th-century neo-Moorish palace as Embaixada next door.”

All you need to know
Nestled in the heart of Lisbon is the Bed and Breakfast Casa do Príncipe. Facing the Príncipe Real Garden, this intimate B&B contains spacious and sunny rooms featuring stuccowork ceilings, real hardwood floors and authentic frescos. Each comes equipped with a private bathroom and a flat-screen TV with cable channels. Each room refers to a meaningful part of the Royal Prince, King D. Pedro V’s life for whom the bed and breakfast is named after.
The prince was born in 1837 and although he only lived to the age of 24, he contributed greatly to his people. The building that houses the bed and breakfast on the first floor was built in the 19th century and a lot of the period’s features have been preserved with the décor and design, which both exude sophistication, elegance and timelessness.
The smoke-free bed and breakfast offers a wide variety of amenities including concierge service and free WiFi. Guests can visit nearby attractions such as the Principe Real Square, Rossio Square, Santa Justa Elevator and Lisbon Cathedral. They can also immerse themselves in the local culture and mingle with the friendly native people. The B&B is only a few minutes’ walking distance from a variety of signature restaurants serving various cuisines including traditional Portuguese gastronomy.

Great location!!! It is very easy to get around to other neighborhoods in Lisbon.
The staff was super friendly and helpful and even gave suggestions on place to grab a bite and drinks. I loved the architecture in the room with chandelier and crown molding. Loved the location and ease of exploring other neighborhoods in Lisbon on foot.
The pillows weren't great (a bit hard and/or firm with no other options available), and I had a hard time sleeping and woke up with a stiff neck. I did request a firm bed but didn't expect the pillows to also be. I usually bring my own pillow but wasn't able to this trip. So, I can only blame myself on that. 😕

Very good
Breakfast was good, however if they should consider serving omelet, Staff was attentive and quick to respond for an early breakfast.
Check-in fee for a late check-in after 900 PM. 20 Euros were charged which I find is not acceptable. In the hospitality business you one cannot rely on airline timings. Airlines routinely cancel flights and rebook. We were supposed to come at 5 PM but ended up at 10 PM.

Nice accomodations in an upbeat neighborhood
Reception, helpfulness and location.
Breakfast area is rather small and breakfast items could be improved. Doesn’t seem to be a kitchen which would explain the limited offerings. Not a big issue!

Bed and breakfast...a little disappointing.
Comfortable bed and the room was quiet, because we were at the back of the building.
The rooms and bathrooms appear bigger in the photos. The breakfast lacked diversity and the coffee was poor.

BAD
Not very good. To simple and por the breakfast. Bad attention to the guest. The stairs of the building are dark and poorly maintained. A poor quality bed & breakfast.
I didn't like it. Not a good B&B

Felt like royalty in our room, very elegant
Old world elegant, I felt like a princess. The room was beautiful with a sitting area and the view looked out onto the park. Nice breakfast.
No complaints

Fabulous
The staff is professional and very friendly. We had a smaller room, but with few to the backyard which makes the room quiet and silent to sleep. The breakfast has a big selection and was very good. The location is in one of the beautifulst districts of Lissabon. A little bit up in the city, but there are restaurants and parks close by . You can walk down the street to the old town and pass by a famous fewpoint. Vis a vis is a beautiful park where you can sit, eat and have a coffee or drink after exploring the city.

This was our third time staying at this property and we highly recommend it and we will definitely return!
The staff is incredibly helpful and accommodating. The kitchen staff was amazing. Delicious breakfast and so kind to have our breakfast early so we could catch our early flight!
We stayed in the beach room and our suggestion is to change the shower head from the narrow cylinder to a standard round one.

Fabulous
The self serve breakfast in the morning was delicious and simple. The staff were all incredible and so helpful. Antonio helped us on our check in and was so warm and welcoming. He gave us great food and walking recommendations and even gave us tips on where to go in other parts of Portugal. It is in the heart of the city but still quiet enough at night to sleep.
I wish we could’ve stayed longer.

location and very nice staff
Breakfast was adequate though not great (for instance, pastries were low quality and not fresh). Kleenex Tissues could be supplied in the room.

tidy, small and good location.
The staff was helpful with suggestions. The location was really nice across from a park and lots of good food and walking nearby. The room was quiet, good AC and the bed was comfortable.
The small room was really small and the bathroom is not super private, so best for an intimate couple or single. If I returned I would select a bigger room. The breakfast ran out a little early so be sure to go early. There isn't much public space outside of the room or dining room, so best for a traveler that is not at the hotel much, easy to do with a park across the street when the weather is good!

Great room in a great location with great staff.
Casa do Principe is in a very stylish building. The rooms are well furnished with high ceilings and we had a great view over the Lisboa Botanic Gardens. The staff were very welcoming and breakfast was excellent. There are many cafés and restaurants in the surrounding area from a kiosk in the park across the road to places offering all kinds of Portuguese culinary delights.
We loved the whole place.
