Nice boutique hotel, more personal than the big hotels. The room was very comfortable, the staff was always very caring to us. As example they provided us a carry on breakfast on the checkout day when we left by 5:30 for a safari tour, we were not expecting that. The location is great, very close to the central area of Rosenbank with its nice restaurants and shops.

We stayed for 2 nights and returned for another 2 at the end of Safari. We booked for 2 nights, got confirmation email a couple of days before confirming 2 nights for us and our daughter and grandchildren ( 2 rooms, 1 family and 1 double) Arrived after a very long journey exhausted, went to check in and was told our booking was for one day not two and was for the next day! We showed them confirmation email they had sent me for the 2 nights. The receptionist was worried and made some calls she didn't know how that could have happened. We were told to go and enjoy a drink in the garden with the children. Long story they found 2 rooms both doubles and had to put fold out bed in one room for the grandchild. We were told they would move us the following day to our reserved rooms, which they did. The receptionist approached us and said they would like to offer us a $50 AUD discount off our account at the end of our stay. We were grateful for that. When we checked out they did remove $50 however they charged us for the drinks that were offered to us while they sorted their booking error.
Be careful when booking, phone or email to confirm room!

Restaurant kitchen closes at 20:30! But they did manage to rustle me up some pasta after that.

Room was a bit small.

Excellent small boutique hotel that is like an oasis in the middle of a big city. The rooms are big and comfortable with views over a lush garden and pool. The restaurant has high quality food and wine and the staff are fabulous. It has good car parking and great security. We have stayed there twice and have just booked again for our third and last night in South Africa. Couldn’t recommend it more highly.

We loved this little boutique hotel - it way exceeded our expectations. Fantastic value - situated in what seems to be a fairly upmarket and safe (during the day) area - we walked to the large shopping mall nearby. Gardens and pool area were well maintained and very relaxing. Staff were lovely and very helpful (especially the security guard I'm sorry I don't know his name ! ). Breakfast was a simple buffet of fruit, yoghurt, cereal, some pasties & muffins, cheese etc then hot food cooked to order. We ate at the restaurant both nights and enjoyed all our meals there. Highly recommend this hotel.

Small and intimate and with great staff

This is our go to place for whenever we visit JHB. Perfect location, comfortable rooms and wonderful staff.

It would be a thoughtful touch to offer complimentary water throughout guests’ stay—it adds comfort and reflects genuine hospitality.

This remains our absolute favourite spot to stay whenever we're in Johannesburg. The rooms are beautifully appointed and comfortable, and the staff always go above and beyond.

EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT! GREAT HOTEL!

This is probably the most outstanding Boutique property I have stayed at anywhere in the world! It is super clean. The staff are amazing. The food and breakfast are 10 star and it’s in a great walkable safer neighbourhood. I’m in Africa for two weeks and to be honest I would’ve been happy to spend my whole time tucked away in this oasis.

I am so fussy there is always something I don’t like but for the first time in years of travelling there is nothing I didn’t like about this property!

Everything was fantastic! We loved our stay at the Clico! The staff was wonderful and Dan was perfect! Thank you for everything!!

Outstanding choices and quality

All good

I've used Clico several times and like almost everything about it. There are a few minor points I've mentioned over the years that have not been addressed but not enough to NOT come back. Location, security, staff, grounds, restaurant are amazing. Room 1 & Room ?? (ground floor on right) need attention: Safes need to be attached to the wall for tru security. The latter room was very damp and it's a bit odd not having a bathroom door. Staff are well trained and charming. Security for parking is good. Food outstanding. Pool wasn't crystal clear or scooped but it was the rainy season.

Location is perfect for Rosebank and Sandton visits.

Noisy area, very close to a busy road.
Functions downstairs can be heard from the rooms. There was a loud one whilst we were there one afternoon.

The staff was extremely welcoming. The room was lovely, well decorated. The pool is very nice, yet it was a bit cold (March) but that’s okay. The restaurant serves delicious food for lunch and dinner and the breakfast was nice.

Some parts look a bit old / out-dated and could do with some TLC, but that’s if I’m being picky!

The room was large but needs updating a bit.

Loved everything about this lovely hotel - convenient, responsive staff, clean and just adorable space!

The bed was comfortable and there were nice pillow options. I often struggle to find a nice size pillow when I travel and this met my needs.

I stayed in room 2 and it was not ideal that it is was so close to Reception, it was very loud at once point, but Peggy was vert kind and helpful and made sure that the inter leading door was closed and that there was no more noise for me.
The guesthouse feels a bit outdated and I think could use some fixing up of some exterior / interior parts like the window panes, sliding door etc. It also looked a bit messy close to the shed in the garden and this could be neatened up for more of an aesthetic look.

Charming establishment with great staff and a wonderful restaurant. Nice, convenient, location in Rosebank sigh great service.

Our room was big but would be nicer with a bathroom wall & door rather than a folding screen partition.

Excellent boutique hotel in a great, safe location in Johannesburg. The service from the Clico team was superb across all areas - check in, food service and helping with transport and baggage needs. Excellent breakfast and dining experiences, and a nice quiet pool area for relaxing. Highly recommended.

No issues at all

Very clean and comfortable, good location, very polite and careful staff

We were at room 6 which shares a terrace with room 5. It will be nice if they can somehow divide the terrace even with a temporary stand on as the woman from room 5 approached our room while i was getting out of the bath…not a nice thing to experience

Charming small and beautifully kept up

Beautiful small hotel with lovely and attentive staff. Great pool to lounge by in a garden that makes you forget you’re in the middle of Rosebank. Spacious rooms and great facilities.

We only stayed for one night as we had a safari booked but the hotel and room was great. The staff were really helpful and organised an early breakfast for our departure (which was really good). The information on taking a tour of Johannesburg was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our whistle stop stay in Johannesburg.

Dinner ended a little too early for us in the restaurant - we would have loved to dine in the restaurant....
