If you travel to Houston and are looking for a place to stay where you have a good selection of restaurants and shopping within walking distance from the hotel, I would highly recommend looking at the Citycentre where Beltway 8 intersects with I10. In this area, The Moran is an excellent option to stay. I have used this hotel for 10+ years and always come back. The hotel was a little bit "shinier" some years back, but the package of location, facilities, restaurants and hotel quality is hard to beat in Houston.

The hotel has changes name over the years, but very little renovation has been conducted. It is still a very good hotel, but maybe it is time to freshen up some parts of the hotel?

Breakfast was not that good.

Weekend breakfast was noticeably poorer than during the week - a shame when that was the time I could have enjoyed it. The fitness centre is minimal.

Some of the towels had stains on them, the restroom sink was clogged every time i would use it, and the toilet was making a noise.

The rooms were nice the location . Did not like the small pool or the amount of kids splashing water in the pool and other guest not able to relax

It’s starting to look a little tried as a hotel but it is about 15 years old.

I liked the decor and ambiance, the smell was also very nice.

I didn’t like the complementary breakfast. There were not a lot of hot savory options. The egg and sausage station wasn’t very hot so by the time we got our waffle the rest of our food was cold.

Walking distance to restaurants, stores and the pool height was perfect for my little ones.

Pool closed at 8pm… sun was still out so it would’ve been nice to have it open until at least 9.

A very good selection for breakfast. Guests have complimentary use of the parking garage (level 3&4) next door and my room a really good size. Great location, with bars, restaurants and shops

The location is perfect the majority of Reception staff are amazing. the parking is free of charge and just walking distance.

the worst thing in this hotel is the luggage carrier. unfortunately their behaviour was literally unprofessional. I got same experience during check-in and check-out.

The breakfast served was of excellent quality. The variety of options available was impressive, and the staff was extremely welcoming and eager to assist.

The coffee machine within the room was not connected to any electrical outlet. Consequently, it was necessary to retrieve and plug in the cord from the back of the device in a different location.

We were upgraded to a bigger room free of charge. The room was clean upon arrival & the space was efficient. We had clean linens & the soap smelled good & didn't leave our skin dry. The manager greeted us with a warm friendly welcome when we checked in & we were given a complimentary bottle of wine as well. Breakfast was fresh & delicious. The view from our room was beautiful looking over City Centre. The area had a lot of attractions & shopping as well as restaurants that we enjoyed. Most of the staff were friendly & the pool was clean & beautiful.

Our room wasn't what we expected but it wasn't horrible. We were hoping since we upgraded to a better room & it was our honeymoon that they would really lay out the red carpet with decorating the room & better service. The room was clean upon arrival & we did have a nice view of city centre. We did have to ask for our room to be cleaned our second night & it wasn't cleaned when we returned. Also, we requested clean towels & they didn't give us those until we called the front desk. We had to call twice & they finally brought them for us to shower but we were checking out that day & because they brought them out later than anticipated we missed breakfast. We were hoping they would have a jacuzzi but were disappointed. Also the second night when we returned to the hotel the bartender was rude to my husband when we wanted to use our complimentary drink voucher like there was a problem. HER MANAGER SIGNED OFF FOR THE VOUCHER. WE DID NOT ASK FOR ANYTHING!! She almost didn't give us our drinks! Stating the manager wasn't supposed to give them to us & that she wasn't supposed to write a dollar amount & as patrons that was not our issue. & we ended up still paying the difference which wasn't a problem, but her mannerisms & demeanor were rude & standoffish as if we didn't belong there....

Great location! Staff was kind and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was amazing! Whisky bar with live music was very enjoyable. Free parking was definitely a bonus!

Hotel was a lovely hotel, great rooms and a very on trend look. Its in the heart of the City centre, where there are a number of bars and restaurants within a short walk. Easy to get to as its a few metres off the freeway. The reception team were great.

The continental breakfast was a mix of "a bit cooked and a bit continental" but neither done well. This is included so not a deal breaker and you can order a breakfast to your taste for a fee which is acceptable. The bar staff have perfected the art of not seeing you even when standing in front of them (they only have to acknowledge you even if they are busy and cannot serve you). The restaurant staff seem unhappy in general. None of this would stop me staying again as it is a nice hotel.

The room was not up to par with cleanliness. The shower floor was dirty and the toilet did not work correctly. The remote was sticky as well as the light switches. Other hotels at this price point make sure items are sanitized. This hotel definitely did not.

Great location in Citycentre with lots of dining options, shops and and activities that you can walk to. Good live music one evening that was free for hotel guests. Good view from the room, which was a good size.

A few minor things: Toilet was unreliable, sometimes making a tank filling noise for a long time without stopping, and sometimes not filling at all (had to take off the lid to the tank and fiddle about inside to let the water in). Only had one glass supplied for water even though there were two of us. Small face towel was not replaced by housekeeping. Our room had two fridges - the original one that was broken and another one that was OK but not in a very convenient location. It would obviously be better to fix/replace the original one.

Location was excellent. I loved that there was free parking, and that you could just walk to restaurants and stores around the hotel. The park view right infront of the hotel was lovely too, and having a floor-to-ceiling window with that view was fantastic. Also loved the hardwood floors, a welcome refresher compared to most hotels' musty room carpeting.

Nothing, really. Hot breakfast options were rather limited, but I liked that there was a lot of fruit. Only thing that would make the room better is if the shower also included a handheld attachment for the harder to reach places, but that would just be a plus point for personal convenience.

The room was large and clean. The complimentary breakfast was nice and the location was great! You can walk to all the restaurants and shops.

Location fabulous, couldnt be better in City Center. Convenient front and back entrances for walking and Uber pick-up. Staff nice and friendly and tried to be helpful. Breakfast convenient and good quality. Beds comfortable, rooms clean.

Rooms not well laid out. Bathroom counter small. Had to ask for hairdryer and hand soap at front desk. Not a great working space in room. OK desk, but no convenient outlet nearby for laptops, etc.. 2 lights not working in room, so dim.

The elevators had super long lines I waited for 20 min just to get on the desk agent at the hotel told everyone there is no stairs we must all take the elevator it was really an inconvenience then one lady stated what happens in case of an emergency like it has to be stairs in that hotel please stop treating guest like that we paid for your services!!!

Amy at the front desk was so kind and sweet. It was my fiancée birthday so she upgraded our room and gave us drink vouchers for the bar. She didn’t have to be so nice but she was. I’ll be staying her again just because of her.

The included breakfast went beyond my expectations. Protein, carbs, fruits, coffee, juice.... .

At 7am someone tried to access the room while we were sleeping. We lost our sleep.. The front desk confirmed it was the cleaning maid. How is it possible for the maid to pretend to clean an occupied room at 7am? It was really bad. This is not a cheap hotel so the guests need to experiencing this type of situation.
