Libertine Lindenberg Hotel, Frankfurt

Nothing like a cleverly designed boutique hotel in a good location with great staff to win traveller plaudits! Well Libertine Lindenburg deserves its praise. The hotel staff are excellent - friendly, helpful and also happy to have a chat (which is great if you are travelling alone). The hotel is located in Alt Sachsenhausen - a vibrant section of Frankfurt (plenty of bars, restaurants, bakeries and cafes) which is walking distance to the Old Town (Altstadt), the Museum Sector and main railway station. The rooms are beautiful designed too - I booked the apartment on the fifth floor that was very comfortable and had some wonderful Skyline views. In addition to a relaxing cafe area on the ground floor there is also a very clever communual kitchen on the fifth floor that encourages a sense of Libertine community. No review would be right without mention of the breakfast which although small is a nicely vegan fare (if you are looking for fry-ups, walk away). I was told that the Vegan croissants were the 'best in the world' on arrival and that was not just an empty statement - they were totally delicious!!!

Nothing to dislike! One suggestion would be to broaden the range of drinks available in the cafe to include spirits but that is a very minor idea.

We were only there for one night. The room was clean and tidy. It had all the amenities that you would need. Location was very central. Love the artwork and the kitchen/hangout on the 5th floor is such a great idea.

The room was a bit small as I was sharing with a friend. The bathroom as great but one small thing...when I turned on the show the handheld shower head was pointed at my face and I didn't realise it so I got soaked. It was funny but housekeeping should really be sure to make sure that doesn't happen. Otherwise it was a good stay.

Basically everything was very good, as for the price I paid a night (200Eur/night) maybe you would expect something more chick but in general it was a very good located, very functional studio-type room over two floors. The staff is great, the breakfast choice is somewhat reduced, but I guess that's because they are vegan (and was for that breakfast too :) )

Price was a bit over the top and breakfast choice might be a bit bigger, otherwise it was a great stay especially if you are inspired by artistic design style.

Excellent location to see the best Frankfurt has to offer. The bed was as comfortable as it gets. The hotel it self had so many cute details.

Check in made it tricky to get in the room as it works with door codes. We got locked out of the room. The staff helped to sort it out via phone so at the end everything worked nicely

The neighborhood is very, very noisy! In weekends, the noise lasts until 5am.

It is already the 5th or 6th time in this place. It is very conveniently located. Rooms are small and simple but with charm. Bathrooms are also small, but new and very clean. We love the communal kitchen, where we can get snacks, beverages (paid), coffee and tee (free), and if you want, we can cook. Personnel is always super nice. We have never had the breakfast, because we love to walk and explore the city.

In summer, without air conditioning the rooms can get really hot, with the problem that the neighborhood is quite loud. also, getting a parking spot nearby is not for the weak.... even the Parkhouse (Alt-Sachsenhousen) may be full. Better use public transportation

The room was nicely decorated and made me feel home instantly. Very lovely!

The location appears to be kind of rough, didn’t feel safe as for a solo female traveller. The checkin wasn’t as seamless as promoted and it was heard reaching staff after 8pm for support since no one was around in person nor answering the phone. Made the check in quite unpleasant.

The concept of the place being a co-living/working space. It’s kind of like a hostel for grown ups with money! It’s a great looking hotel, very clean and well laid out.

I saw one staff member the entire time. It felt very impersonal. The area is definitely suited for a younger crowd. Lots of pubs and bars and it gets loud at times. The hotel provides earplugs for this reason. During the day there isn’t a lot going on. The stairs in the maisonette apartment are very narrow. As a bigger person I really struggled to get up and down them easily. This is something that should be mentioned when booking.

The automated check in does not work, it’s inconvenient. The immediate area of the hotel is not so nice, lots of loud and messy bars and clubs.

Top Staff, Beautifull rooms & location

You have to be aware it is situated in the middle of a party area, so its VERY loud outside on the week ends, easily till 4 in the morning. I didnt mind but i can see that this can be hard on some people.

The room was quite clean, and the quality was as expected. The location was a bonus. I also liked the location. You could go for a walk near the river, which was really nice. I think this room was overall a fair deal at this price.

The noise outside was terrible. Although my stay was during the weekdays (I forgot which day it was in particular), the noise outside from the bars was ongoing until like 3 in the morning. Also, I was expecting a refrigerator in the room, but apparently not....

Beautiful, unique, fantastic location, great value, and great friendly staff

Really good place to stay. Love the concept of no keys needed, self check-in via a vending machine is great and access to a kitchen if you want to make your own food. Such a great way to keep costs low when travelling. The gym has more than just the basics of what you need for a decent workout. Cute decor, modern feeling, sensible amenities in the room, love that the breakfast is vegan.

The safe in the room is tiny, so not able to store a laptop in there. The printing paper in the check in vending machine had run out when I arrived and the phone number displayed everywhere did not have my response. Luckily I found a different phone number on the Instagram page and managed to get the info I needed. The seal between the shower door did not join, so there was always a puddle after. I really hope that gets fixed soon, as wood rot would be a far more difficult issue to deal with down the line. Breakfast was yum, but not enough sustenance to justify the cost. The temperature was 30+ while I was there, glad they put a fan in the room, but it was still so hot in there, no AC

Location was good

Not enough air circulation. It was too hot and stuffy upstairs, even with the sky light open - which of course would not open if it was raining making that issue even worse.

The hotel had a very pretty design with comfortable colors and creative artworks. The room itself had a modern look. However keep in mind that it did have a flight of stairs inside the room itself, not suitable for movement impaired people. The facilities were all clean. The location was superb. Right in the middle of back alleys of Sachsenhausen surrounded by little bars and cafés. They have a big kitchen area on the top floor with a community space which would make this an amazing place for group trips. Further more the little gym in the cellar was more than enough for a quick workout.

There were two technical problems. First the door knob thingy that you have to turn to open the door was initially broken and falling out of the door, it took some trial and error to get the door open. Second the window, which is supposed to be fully automatic and controlled by a little device next to the bed was not working at all. You're supposed to be able to open the window and the shutters, however, someone seems to have moved it manually which led to the whole system no longer working which was a bit of a pain since it forced me to sleep with an open window in a very busy part of town, thus leading to it having been real loud all night long. Lastly I was unable to reach anyone from the hotel staff via the provided emergency number after several attempted calls. The breakfast was on the pricier side.

The place is well located in Sachsenhausen, an old building turned into a modern hotel, with small but super clean and comfortable rooms. The bathroom is also modern and functional. Personal is lovely, the common kitchen with free coffee and tea, and small shop with snacks, soups, and drinks make you feel welcome. Our second time here and we will come back.

The only issue is that the neighborhood gets really loud because of all the bars around. And, although the windows offer good protection, you may get some of the heat….

On our arrival we were greeted with very friendly and helpful staff which was a bonus after a long flight. We found the accommodation very clean and comfortable and in a very good location, close to the old town.
