The Ruthland Hotel, Edinburgh

Love the location and the staff. They were all very helpful and nice. Apartment was a nice size, spacious and clean.

The stairs. We were a top floor unit and had larger, heavy suitcases to get up the spiral stairs. We did get help, and tipped, which was appreciated but overall the stairs were a lot. Our bad was we “thought” we had a washer/dryer in the unit and planned our trip accordingly. This stay was supposed to be our chance to was everything for the week ahead. Unfortunately not even an on-site or very close laundry. We took it to the recommended laundry “Raeburn” though it was a bit of a hike. It was a bit dear but we were lucky enough to have them deliver it to the Rutland Apartments. The other issue we had was with the heating. The radiator was broken in the one bedroom which made it unbearably hot the first night. However, they did address and get it fixed the next day so that was very appreciated. Again, great staff here! It was a bit hard to regulate the entire apartment though. That said, we did like the apartment overall and would consider staying again, albeit requesting a lower floor unit.

They upgraded us to an apartment. New furniture. Apartment and the wash room were spacious. Every thing was great.

Only thing is the breakfast. There is no buffet. And very limited menu for halal options. Apart from this everything was great.

Fabulous staff in the hotel and the restaurant on site. Couldn't do enough for us. Unfortunately during our stay their boiler went, and we did not have hot water. Some things are beyond their control. All staff were very apologetic, and they made up for it on other ways. The view from our room was stunning. Would definitely return to the Rutland.

Everything. Whenever I come up to Edinburgh I book the Rutland and only stay elsewhere when it's booked up. I've stayed in the rooms and apartments both of which are fantastic and so much bigger than any other rooms I've used recently in Edinburgh

The apartments are spacious, there is a fully functional kitchen and even a small back yard. These apartments are perfect for family trips. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect for visiting the castle and museums. The airport bus passes very close by.

The bath tub felt a little bit dangerous.

Excellent location; apartment extremely comfortable, spacious, filled with designer furniture. A lot of light inside, a functioning fireplace, a bed so comfy you don't want to leave it. Big bathroom with a bath and a shower. Separate entrance to the building. Incredibly wonderful and helpful staff. All forms of public transport right outside your door. Walking distance to main attractions of the city. Very tasty breakfasts in the restaurant next to the hotel, with a great variety to choose from. Absolutely charming atmosphere throughout every element of our stay.

Self contained apartment. Big enough for two people. Easy to walk to everything. Nice and central. The Huxley restaurant attached to the hotel was amazing. Heating worked well.

The apartment we had was underground level, meaning the sidewalk/footpath was above us. Therefore no natural light. I would image in winter that wouldn't be nice. Lots of stairs - stairs to get to reception. Stairs to get to the apartment building door, stairs to get to the actual apartment. So with a heavy suitcase it isn't idea. If you are not young or fit then this might be an issue for some. Security, I was borderline not entirely feeling secure. Three entrances to the apartment, one wasn't even locked when we go there. For an apartment the only thing missing was laundry facilities. I stayed a week and couldn't wash my clothes, only option it the hotel laundry service.

Amazing! Spacious, bright and loved the quirky decor. My room was amazing. As a traveller with mobility issues the team couldn’t of helped more. Huge room, super comfy bed, perfect bathroom. Nothing and I mean nothing was too much for the team working there. As a bonus residents get discount in the fabulous Huxley restaurant and bar. Their breakfasts take some beating. Again Nothing was Too much hassle for them.

I would have liked to know in advance that it was a basement unit, though it did have a nice patio out back and the interior was very nice.

Large and luxurious. Only fairly recently refurbished and very nicely designed. Its position in Edinburgh was excellent. Would definitely stay here again.

We didn’t mind - but there is no elevator, so you have to be ready to climb stairs for the upper apartment.

Location was perfect . The apartment decor was stunning. The staff extremely helpful. Rooms were bright & light and decorated in contemporary style within a Georgian 17th century building. Lofty ceilings and glamorous finishes. Coffee machine was such a plus. Nice little treats on arrival in the room with endless supply of tea & coffee. Bathroom was beautiful & loads of hot water! Could not fault. And would stay again.
