Just a short stroll to the castle and shops and restaurants outside the door - Room was quiet and very comfortable. When I arrived the heating was on - towel warmer toasty warm and chocolates on arrival and quiet music playing. Gorgeous spot

This is a long overdue review so apologies for the delay, but my fiance and I traveled to Edinburgh from NYC for our engagement trip. We initially booked a standard room, but I had put in my notes that it was an engagement trip and requested some champagne. Not only were we greeted by the kindest and most welcoming concierge - but she UPGRADED up to an apartment!! We were absolutely blown away. Upon entering the apartment there was champagne, choclocates, and a very sweet note from the staff. They absolutely exceeded out expectations and this updgrade made our stay that much more special. HIGHLY recommend for anyone traveling to Edinburgh - you will not regret. The location is prime as well - Edinburgh caslte right outside our door and easily accessible to all locations. Rutland Hotel - we will be back! Thank you so much for making this trip so amazing.

We stayed in this apartment at the beginning of January for one night, as two couples, and had a very pleasant experience. The apartment is located in an annex of the hotel, on the third floor, and there is no elevator — exactly as mentioned in the listing. Despite this, the apartment is beautiful, very well decorated, and extremely cozy. The heating system was very efficient, and we did not feel cold at all during our stay. When we arrived, we were welcomed with complimentary chocolates, which was a lovely touch. The apartment also provided still and sparkling water, as well as dishwasher products. There is also a minibar with paid beverages. The location is excellent and very central, with a supermarket just a few meters away and many shops and restaurants nearby. Edinburgh Castle is about a 10 to 15-minute walk from the property. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Edinburgh.

The only thing we missed was a washing machine in the apartment, as sometimes we arrived late and would have liked to do some laundry. However, the property does offer a paid laundry service.

The hotel was amazing. The man @ the front desk was exceptional. We will be back.

The Rutland was amazing! The room was very spacious and great location. Breakfast at The Huxley was great value for money. I will stay here again next time I’m in Edinburgh.

Great location. It's easy to walk to anywhere in Central Edinburgh from here. The apartment was spacious and well furnished. It was styled beautifully but not at the expense of comfort. It was surprisingly quiet with very comfy beds, so easy to get a good nights sleep. The reception staff couldn't have been more helpful. I would stay here again.

We had the best night sleep ever!. Hotel is located in the city center, but you don't get any noise from outside. Beds are very comfortable and room was spacious and very clean. staff was nice and helpful. I would highly recommend this place.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel in Edinburgh. The room was very clean, beautiful, and comfortable, with an amazing view of the castle and the city. The staff were incredibly lovely and friendly, always happy to help and make us feel welcome. We truly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

Never disappoints. I am a regular at the Rutland when it suits my budget and stay a few times a year. The location is great really handy for Haymarket and Waverley station. Rooms are always immaculate, I was upgraded to executive which is bigger and always a nice plus. Fresh milk, GHD straighteners and a nice restaurant on site.

Toiletries still don’t hit the high hotel standard for me, pumps never work properly on them + one of pumps fell off mine. Same issues everywhere that uses them.

The Rutland Hotel already has excellent reviews and a high rating on Booking.com, so this is a hard review to write simply because we only stayed for one night and checked out early the next morning. The hotel is made up of stylish apartments along a beautiful old street, with large traditional Edinburgh townhouses converted into boutique accommodation. Check-in is at the top of the street near Princes Street, and the apartments run down Rutland Street. I’ll upload a couple of photos because the style is classic Edinburgh and really charming. I had originally booked a deluxe room, but when we arrived (on 23rd December, which makes it even more impressive), we were upgraded to an apartment suite — and it was absolutely huge. High ceilings, loads of space, beautiful, fun, artsy décor, and a massive bathroom with both a separate bath and shower. I was genuinely blown away. We only paid £240, which felt incredible value for what we got. So grateful to the hotel for the upgrade. The location is outstanding. It’s right beside the famous Caledonian Hotel, and you get views of Edinburgh Castle as soon as you walk around the corner. It’s a quieter part of the city, yet only a 2-minute walk to all the busy areas, shops, bars, and restaurants. For parking, there is an NCP car park about 500m away which is cheaper, but I parked on the street instead. Parking is free overnight (6:30pm–8:30am, and on Sundays from noon–6:30pm), which was really convenient. I absolutely loved our stay and would come back in a heartbeat — if you can ever get a booking, as it always seems to be full!

Would highly recommend this hotel the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was stunning and huge. The location is perfect to get to every where in the city. The bus and tram to airport is around the corner. We will definitely be back.

Our suite was spacious, well decorated and comfortable. We had everything we needed, including a well equipped kitchen, since we preferred to stay in sometime. We could always get helped by the staff if we needed anything. The location is unbeatable - in the heart of the city and close to all main attractions, restaurants, shops etc.

Fabulous location. We stayed during Hagamany and had the best view of the whole town with fireworks from the room (had to request specifically). Short walk to both old and the new town across from the Johnny Walker experience. Hotel restaurants were superb.
