The Ruthland Hotel, Edinburgh

We loved the gorgeous decor, the little touches e.g. handmade chocolates and the central location. It helped to make a lovely weekend even more special.

Great central location. Room was fantastic , great size and really comfy bed. Bathroom was lovely with great shower. Nespresso coffee machine was a nice touch. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.

The safety deposit box could do with some instructions, but worked it out in the end.

Unfortunately our experience in The Huxley, the hotel's pub/bar, was not of the same high quality. The service for lunch was slow and the staff rather cursory

I had originally paid for a double room and arrived and was upgraded free of charge to an apartment. The apartment was beautiful and so spacious. Location is great only 10-15 mins walk from George street where we had booked dinner. Parked in the NCP car park which is a 5 min walk away and the hotel gave us 50% off parking so was only £18 for the overnight parking. Overall the stay was brilliant would definitely recommend and will be back in the future.

Lovely friendly staff

Amazing stay. A 4-star hotel which had exceptionally good value for money; not far away from being a 5-star location. We didn’t get the castle view we wanted but the city view was still very nice. Rooms were well equipped with all necessities and design was very unique. Location was ideal within the city centre and only a 15 minute walk from the main train station.

2 small things: 1) I saw this mentioned somewhere in a review and experienced it myself: the included toiletries were very nice but the gel pumps were very stubborn and you had to almost manually reset them with your hands after pumping once to get more soap dispensed. I thought the person who mentioned this was just unlucky and had a faulty bottle but seems like this is the case for all of them. 2) The room we had was splendid, but the bathroom tap was in a very strange position. It was placed just on the edge of the sink which made it very awkward to wash your hands and the water would splash outside the sink basin making a mess.

Breakfast ‘Scottish Full Breakfast’ was dry and somewhat over cooked.

I love this hotel! If I had to be picky id say they could have some comfier pillows but I guess thats preference. The staff are smiley, polite and helpful on every occasion and the rooms are beautiful and extremely comfortable with a stunning bathroom, mini bar/trolley, ghd straightners.. the list goes on. On this occasion I did not have breakfast but from previous experience its been top tier. You would absolutely not be disappointed here.

Again if im being picky- toiletries are still pretty low level for a beautiful hotel. The pump never works properly on the shower gel it gets stuck at the bottom. Stayed approx 4 times since they upgraded to the new bottles/brand and always does it.

We got an upgrade to an apartment with was exceptional and unexpected. The 2 restaurants attached to the hotel did gorgeous food whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner. I really recommend this hotel and the location is ideal.

Incredible! We got upgraded for free to the most beautiful apartment! Gorgeous lounge area with an open plan kitchen! Everything felt clean and the furniture and decor was fantastic! Staff very welcoming and the location is perfect, so central and 5 min walk to the castle.

The room was stunning and had a beautiful view. The staff was extremely helpful and assisted us well. It was in great distance to the Edinburgh Castle and many shopping and food places.

We have nothing negative to say.

Staff were amazing and very accommodating! Had a small issue with our room that staff resolved quickly and ended up upgrading us to an apartment which was amazing! Loved the tea cakes and chocolates in the rooms - lovely additions.

Location is on quite a busy junction but you can barely hear this from the rooms.

Very clean rooms with great decor and views of the Edinburgh castle. Super friendly staff. Great location, easy to walk to lots of popular places.

This hotel absolutely took our breath away. All I can say is wow! Where to begin? The underfloor heating in the bathroom was such a luxury in the winter. The water bottles and tea bags were complimentary and restocked with the room service. All appliances were excellent quality - Smeg kettle and toaster and even GHD straighteners in the room. The bed was huge and very comfortable.

We stayed at the Rutland Hotel for three nights, and it far exceeded our expectations. We were upgraded to an apartment instead of a room (a huge thank you for that!). The apartment was exceptional – spacious, well-located on Rutland Street (the street named after the hotel, making it so easy to find after exploring the beautiful city of Edinburgh), and incredibly comfortable. The reception staff were warm and welcoming, always attentive to our needs. We truly felt at home during our stay!

Location is spot on walkable to all the main areas. Spacious & large room, despite being above the main room didn’t hear traffic noise as decent double glazing on windows. Lovely toiletries and amenities in room - coffee machine, mini bar etc.

Internal doors clearly fire doors so they slam shut, this was quite noisy and my bedroom door would move everytime the corridor door opened. I jammed it with a towel in the end!

Perfect for a family of 4. Lots of space, gorgeous decor, and the jacuzzi bath was a big hit. Great location by the Christmas fayre / play park.

The location was excellent. It was a garden room which in the summer would be lovely - apartment was very spacious. This is our our second time staying at the Rutland.

Was disappointed that it didn’t match the decadence of the one bedroom apartment. There were some issues with cleanliness particularly in the main bathroom.

The rooms were gorgeous, spacious and clean. It was in a perfect location, right in the centre of Edinburgh. The hotel has two restaurants attached. The staff were all very polite and helpful.

The steak restaurant seemed very popular so I would recommend booking in advance.

We got upgraded to the apartments so that was the best part.

Having to go down stairs with a 1 year old to get to the apartment
