Jacobs Inn Hostel, Dublin

The hostel's location is just top - very close to everything in the heart of Dublin. The sleeping pod was comfortable: nice mattress, pleasant duvet, reading light inside. The breakfast food selection was rather basic but enough to construct a kind of a full Irish breakfast. The place felt safe, and the atmosphere inside was nice. Also got lucky - no unruly or snoring neighbors.

- They charge for luggage storage, this is I believe the first accommodation I stayed at that does that. - An open window is the only way to ventilate the room, Dublin seagulls will wake you up at 6 :) - I failed to notice any facilities to cook or even heat up own food.

Everything was good and comfortable after a busy day

There were no sockets near the bed, only USB ports.

Hostel was clean and tidy. I don't really stay in hostels much due to privacy reasons but thought the privacy was OK here. There seemed to be a food atmosphere in the hostel.

There was a weird smell downstairs by the elevators and the person below my bed was making weird noises but these are minor details.

Almost all pods were empty, out of the 3 only people there (including me) snored a lot and neither me or the other girl batted an eye... Id recommend When the flow is low to spread then through the room

Very good but the corner of the street with wanna be irish boys and kids might make it an awful sight to behold not to worry though. Non the less it's awesome with great facilities great bar and breakfast infact everyone there was so cool especially for me coming all the way from Sikkim a tiny northeastern mountain region in india bordered by Nepal Bhutan and China go goole my location

Decent hostel clean, good staff. My only complaint is the communal mens bathroom stinks bad! It’s clean but i think it’s an old building perhaps with no water trap to keep the smell of sewage gas from coming back up through the pipes. There is a bathroom in each room but if you are like me and like to do your business without others in the room hearing it then you will have to brave the smelly boys room down the hall. Other than that it is your typical hostel all good.

Stayed in 8 bed pod with entire family for 1 night. Was easy and comfortable would recommend to other families for a very short stay.

I love the pods - so much more privacy and quiet than bunks

Cozy beds, attentive staff, large ground floor bar/restaurant, and the location is interesting (its 15-20 min walk from most attractions but I enjoyed being in the north end. The daily free drink social was a great way to make friends.

the negative was mostly just that the bathrooms weren't the cleanest and smelt pretty awful. Would be nice if they had an option for coffee earlier in the morning too

There was nothing that I didn't like.

The location and the atmosphere of the hostel was amazing. The staff was very helpful for exchanging coins for bus and I had the best Irish coffee at the bar!!! However, people preparing their suitcases at 3am broke my sleep:(

Good location I didn't like that you constantly had to push a button to keep the showers on. The water only lasted to 10-15 seconds before it shut off.

The staff was really nice, while it was slightly out of the centre of the city, the location was still quite good and it was really walkable to go into the centre. Just took me 15 minutes. It was quite clean and overall nice experience.

Not noise proof, could hear everything even slight movements in the other's cabins.

Room #209. There is a big useful space just for a chill or packing guest stuff, but there aren't any coache or armchairs or chairs. Both sinks were soldiered. Please unclog sink drains

I disliked that in a group room, you were limited for time on shower water, where it's expressed about about water efficiency. However, I stayed in a double room for a night and found that I could have a shower for as long as I'd have liked, all afternoon and evening if so chose. So, it feels a bit discriminatory. However, the hostel, staff, events and generally, it was a great experience

I spent 1 night in female room. I was quite lucky all ladies were quiet and nice. It is very warm inside of the tube. Use light pyjama as it is very hot. For 1 night stay great value for money. However in other rooms there were a lot of kids who were running all night . So I think it depends who are you roommates

Really good hostel, pricey but gives what is expected for the price: - Really comfortable pods - The bathroom was cleaned thoroughly - The hostel tries to engage the guests with activities and recommendations. Shout out to Maxi in the night shift, with his recommendations for pubs and nightlife in Dublin and helping a lot. As a critique, the chillout room needs a lot more outlets, seriously.

A great location, comfortable pod in the room - but a bit hot. Secure locker in the room, charging points next to the bed and great free WiFi. Chill out room had a kettle and a microwave which was handy as there was a nearby Lidl to get food. There is a luggage store, but factor in the price as it’s €5 then €1 per hour. I checked out at 10am and had an evening flight.

Ease of use

The beds were super cozy, and the rooms clean. The only thing i didn't like was the chill room, always has a bad smell and it didn't have a source of water but it had a kettle.

It is perhaps the best hostel in Dublin and beyond. Very clean and big specious rooms, new building well looked after, I never seen anything like that in hostels, even the guests are well behaved. The bathroom is very big and very clean additionally there are toilets and showers outside the room

No small kitchen to even bake a ready made pizza. The pods are tricky to get into them although they provide some privacy but they could have been streached with such big room they would have the same capacity I do not know who's idea it was I think it is wrong.

Nice pub and café area, very friendly staff. The pods are comfy with good lockers, and the bathrooms are clean. Overall a good experience with good dorms in a good location, but a lot of stuff could be better.

The showers last a few seconds only, so you kind of have to lean on the button. Very annoying. It gets hot in the dorms at night. Also, the «chillout room» is horrible - no sink/kitchen, no cutlery, just a very dirty microwave and water kettle (not very handy without water access) in a creepy dark room. Come on, put some pictures on the walls at least, and provide some cleaning stuff so guests can wipe the surfaces…

Quiet location, comfortable room with large enough pods, great lounge area in the lobby, very close to the tram and bus.

Shared bathroom was on a different floor, quite hot in the room, shower knob needed to be held in the entire time for water

As someone who hasn't stayed in a hostel before I was pleastly surprised. The beds/pods were quite comfortable and equipped with USB ports and a shelf. There's lockers in the room which you do not need a lock for - you create your own code. I stayed in a 10 pod female only room with one bathroom. I never had an issue waiting for the bathroom. However, there is another larger bathroom provided on the floor with multiple showers and stalls. The breakfast was surprisingly good as well and a good value.

The showers time out at 15 seconds... yes 15 seconds (per the sign on the wall stating so). It's to conserve water but it is a bit over the top. 30 seconds would be much more enjoyable than the 15 seconds assault of water then standing in the cold. I would probably not return here for that reason alone.

Clean rooms and good location. Pods are comfortable enough with good blackout curtains.

No fridge, no kettle, no kitchen, no cutlery. Just a microwave in a poorly ventilated "chill out room" that reeks like tobacco, old food and BO. Only one bathroom per shared room, which means you can't use the toilet or the faucet if someone else is showering. Luggage storage is expensive. WiFi is free, but poor signal in the rooms.

Staff, rooms and breakfast are great. Live music was an huge plus

Chilling was dark and somehow creepy

Very close to the city center and just off the bus stop coming from the airport. The pods were comfortable, very nice sheets. I stayed in an all female dorm, it was pretty quiet and clean. The pod is not very long but was comfortable, at least in my case but I am only 1.63, there is also an advisory on the wall that the pods can get a bit hot but again not a problem. For people traveling with no set plans the hostel has activities which they post up like walk tours and pub crawls. Reception is open 24h and access to the room is by using a code. There is a bathroom with a shower in the room for 9 beds but at least during my stay this was enough, I was also told there were some more showers if needed on the first floor.

Nothing to complain about honestly I did not try the breakfast or the bar so no comment.

The location is central. We stayed only one night but we got all that we needed. Comfortable bed in a twin room and private toilet.

Location was pretty central, I liked the privacy of a pod, & the bar downstairs was nice. Lockers in the rooms were big and were coded so you didn’t need a padlock which was great. Bathrooms in the room. Always had social events going on downstairs, so was easy to meet other guests.

The only socket next to the bed is a USB - no plug so couldn’t charge your phone if you have a different cable type. Shower in my room kept falling apart & turned off every 10 seconds. The chill out room was pretty bland and could definitely be spruced up a bit.

Location to city centre and public transport, privacy curtains and lockers with a personal pin code were great. The walls between the beds were somehow thick enough that you wouldn‘t hear your neighbours. Also the ladders and the whole bed construction is so steady that nothing is shaking or moving when someone comes of leaves. Security at the front door and different codes to go up the stairs and into each dorm let me feel really safe.

It’s just a minor issue: no control over the heating. After a certain time the heating would turn on high whenever we would open the window. So it became really hot within the little pods.

Location great, great ambiance.

The beds were some of the most packed I’ve ever seen. If you have claustrophobia you might not be able to sleep

Cleanliness in the room

The toilet flush is not very good. It required 3 flushes every time. While the shower had a timer for saving water.

The pods were comfortable . The location was good, generally quite and the hostel was clean. I liked the tour options that you could find at the reception. Loved the egg options at breakfast , sunny and scrambled. The lockers were spacious. The men that worked at night were friendly and attentive!

The USB port is not really convenient as the charging was extremely slow. When i was using my phone while charging, the battery was still going down. I had to charge my phone at the lobby. I d like some chocolate at breakfast! They had great pancakes and croissants that would go great with chocolate.

Friendly team, great entertainment and events. Good opportunity to meat a variety of people.

Bar closing at 11pm and a rush to get out. Bed would get too hot and was difficult to cool down.

Location was excellent. Very helpfull and friendly staff. Pod was a excellent experience, 2 types of lights (1 green and 1 normal. Had my own locker for my bag(s) and such. Comfortable matress and clean space. Shower was decent and clean, preassure was good. Cleaners came midway through the day.

No towel provided, no shower gel either. Would have been good to have that highlighted in the advert. No issue though, just use a shirt (theres radiators so quick dry) and for shower gel go to lidl its 2mins walk from hostel €0.99.

The staff was very friendly and the price was very good.

The rooms were actually quite decent for a hostel. The en suite was very spacious, but these do need cleaning more frequently throughout the day, as ppl leave it messy.

The fee for left luggage is a bit extortionate- I checked out early (surely more convenient for the hotel and staff) but the you have to pay to leave stuff in the left luggage. In the end, this cost me half of what staying another night there would have cost, which is just daft. Takes tge shine off a decent stay when they claw money out of you at the start/end. €3 for the first hour plus €1 an hour thereafter

The pods are super hot at night (march!) we can open 1 window in the room. The drain is crazy loud in that room, like so bad that it gurgles for 10 mins after an use of the sink

Great location - everything I needed was in walking distance. Also very close to multiple public transport options. Pods were comfortable and private - the curtain allowed you to close yourself in. Had a little shelf, hook and rail within the pod - as well as a usb charging point. The 4 female pod room was large enough to spread out your suitcase and get organised. The lockers were large enough to fit a suitcase and a backpack (although it was a tight fit). Shower pressure was ok, although the water push button timer was slightly inconvenient when washing long hair. Overall a great hostel - would stay here again

Only one toilet in a room, but there are single gender bathrooms on other floors.

The 4 bed female room I stayed in was very small and there was no shelf in the bed to put my phone because if I put my phone on the bed beside me it could have slipped down to the bottom bunk. Also the ladder to climb up to the top bunk was extremely uncomfortable as the steps are so thin and there was only one side rail to hold onto while climbing so I thought I might fall. Also the pillow was very thin and the sheet had a small stain on it. Also there was no hand soap in the bathroom (even though it was just cleaned by the cleaner) on the mixed dorm floor as I used that toilet as the toilet on my floor was occupied. Hand soap should always be in the bathrooms, otherwise how are people washing their hands and preventing the spread of any potential germs. Also a woman snored the majority of the night in my room but I know that’s not the property’s fault. Also she turned on the bright main light in the room late at night when the rest of us were asleep and the curtain in the top bunk doesn’t block the entire thing and also when the person below me turned on their light in the bunk it shone brightly up into my bunk waking me up, so I think there should be a policy to not turn on the main light affect certain time and people can just use their phone torch when coming in to the room late at night if the light is off.
