Birmingham, an affluent suburb of Detroit, may not be the first location you consider when searching for a striking, art-laden luxury boutique hotel like the Daxton Hotel. Such an establishment might have previously found it challenging to attract patrons outside of cities like New York or Los Angeles.

The hotel’s aesthetics are daring with black marble and dark wood, establishing a genuinely sophisticated ambiance. What prevents it from being overly solemn is its art collection, featuring whimsical and vibrant paintings and sculptures displayed prominently in the lobby and other common areas.

The rooms, on the other hand, allow some natural light and reflect various architectural periods, from Victorian embellishments to Art Deco, Modernist moves, and beyond. Daxton was the perfect girls getaway in Birmingham

locations was amazing. style and devote was perfection. most importantly, the staff was so welcoming and helpful.

a wedding party downstairs ran though the hallway between 11:30-1 am. we had to call the front desk. within 20 minutes it was quiet.

A wonderful place to stay, worth the money.

Everything, probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff was the first thing you notice. They were all friendly and helpful. I cannot say enough about the concierge Henry, he went above and beyond for our family, he is a wonderful man a great asset to the hotel. The hotel is in a great location, easy to walk to shops and restaurants. The service is impeccable, they cater to your every need. My family and I will definitely be staying there on our next visit.

Best stay in a long time. The attention to detail from Raj's Team was impressive. They care!

Best pancakes I've had in a very long time. Quiet calm space to wake up and have breakfast. Madame is gorgeous.

definitely staying here again!

the staff was great, free coffee in the AM, the location was central and the rooms were very cute. the resturant has some seriously good food as well.

the gym seems like an after thought, no a single window made it feel very uncomfortable to work out in.

Way to expensive for location/ town. Also had a very disturbing incident at lobby bar at night. Lots of questionable people

Beautiful property but lacking in execution.

Great location. Valet and bell service staff were amazing. Well appointed rooms and the lobby area was beautiful.

The check in experience was poor at best. Room wasn’t ready. We were told 10 minutes. Took over an hour to get our room. Missed our 5pm reservation. Very disappointed for $500+ per night that more action wasn’t taken. The pull out for our kids had no sheets, pillows, etc.

My pillows and sheets were stained. This my 5th time staying there in 4 months. Typically a nice hotel but wasn’t happy with pillows and bedding being stained. They sent me new pillow cases the next morning after I complained

Hotel staff were much nicer and friendly. Valet are great guys

I didn't like the restaurant staff. They are not friendly and don't serve food on time. It took a long time to vote and take order and delivery.

Good - well appointed and great restaurant.

Excellent service. Snack pantry a triumph.

No cosy spots to relax that didnt feel like a bus station with a lot of music. Maybe I am getting old.

Too busy they care more about bar customers! No sleep on 2 nights

The hotel was is a nice location,

The Hotel seems to care more about attracting people to the bar than looking after its customers. We found it hard to Valet park sometimes waiting 15 minutes as they had queues of people waiting to get in the bar ! The hallways were paper thin you could hear people coming back at 2 am & the rooms were paper thin too got no sleep for two nights when phoned the receptionist no one answered!!

terrible of you with unfriendly receptionist

Mattress in the room is very comfortable. And lobby and the hallway interior design and lighting is great.

receptionists need to be more professional and friendly. after staying at this hotel for two nights. Receptionist name Rebecca is so rude and absurd. I start thinking about what Asian hate is. This photo is taken from my room. Paid more than $400 each night for this view. and the hotel was pretty much empty.

My room location was horrible, but I imagine most rooms are a first class experience.

The Daxton is a beautiful hotel with a great location, friendly staff, and beautiful decor. The beds were extremely comfortable with lots of pillows. The TV was huge. The amenity products are very nice; although, the pump did not work on the shampoo bottle. The hotel offers a "pantry" on each floor with coffee, tea, still, and sparking water. In addition they provide soft drinks, bottled water, and snacks. The snacks consisted of fresh fruit, popcorn (both Skinnypop and Smartfood (? - the cheesy popcorn)), baked goods, and a bar of some sort. It was great to have easy access to tea and a light snack.

My room, 223, was directly across from the elevators and it was loud. The room had very little sound insulation. The voice on the elevator "going down" and "going up" was set so that a deaf person in my hotel room could here it. I woke up throughout the night every time the elevator was called. This is something the hotel could easily fix (after all the noise of the guests wasn't bad - it was the sound inside the elevator that was obnoxious through the closed door of my room). In addition, my TV remote was very difficult to use. You could hit the buttons 10 times before the TV would respond. Finally, the shampoo bottle pump did not function. I unscrewed the top in order to get access to the shampoo and set the bottle (minus the top) aside in the shower. I thought maid service would notice and provide a new bottle but the bottle was exactly how I left it. Honestly, I should have asked to switch rooms after the first night as my second night was equally miserable with very little sleep. I imagine rooms away from the elevator would be a marvelous experience.

Inattentive customer service - there are better options in Birmingham than Daxton.

I have stayed here previously. On my last trip my flight was cancelled due to snow. I contacted the hotel and requested relief through booking.com to waive charging me for the room. The hotel never responded and I was charged the full rate for the stay. Customer service is lacking.
