Megaron Historical Monument Hotel, Crete

Great 5 star hotel in Heraklion. Perfect location and super helpful staff.

The staff were extremely nice and helpful. They were so kind that I felt overwhelmed! They made sure that every need we had was promptly addressed in the best shape possible :) The pool (rooftop) has an amazing view. You can always find many free sun beds with umbrellas to relax.

Everything. This was my second time at GDM Megaron. The location is great, the pool and restaurant are lovely with a great view of the harbor. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING! The selection of savory dishes along with exquisite desserts will always remain in my memory. Superb!!!

A high class hotel with amazing rooms and location. The hotel lobby area was amazing along with the Megaron room on the first floor. Outstanding rooms and bathrooms. We were upgraded to a port view and loved it. Nice rooftop restaurant and pool area as well. If needed, they have a nice fitness area. The receptionist at the hotel at check in and check out were ok but I wasn’t really impressed as other hotels. Maybe it is just me but I would not hold It against this property. We also appreciated the daily evening quotes slipped under our door. Also, the location from the ferry port and the bus station is perfect. It’s also a few blocks away from the city center. We would stay here again!

The only thing I can think of was the receptionist. Usually, you’re given some maps or recommendations and such but this wasn’t the case. Honestly though, it wasn’t a major issue.

N/A no iron in the rooms we didn't ask the front though, they might have it upon request.

Comfortable spacious rooms , mine had a view of the port which was really great. The location was ideal for travelling with the car and also walking distance from some of the key places to visit The breakfast was amazingly good. Lots to choose from and very tasty.

Absolutely fabulous, chic and modern hotel in a historic building, a few minutes walk from the port and close to all downtown restaurants. Free parking right next to the hotel was SO helpful! Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Nice touches like cookies and a little chocolate desert on our arrival. Front desk staff was so kind and helpful. Breakfast was out of this world, best we’ve had in Greece! Rooftop pool and lounge area had amazing sunset views. Can’t wait to return here!

The staff was amazing and so was the location. The kindness and attention to detail to make you feel welcomed and appreciated was given by every staff member. I would absolutely return to this hotel for another stay.

It would have wonderful to have chairs available to sit on the balcony.

Price of the rooftop compared to the city

First of all the reception ladies, Effy and Vicky are so so kind, friendly, polite and helpful! They helped us with everything we needed, amazing! The team in the breakfasts is very friendly and always happy to help. Breakfast is just a dream, a huge selection of homemade traditional plates and cakes. You really feel you are eating a food as it was prepared at someone’s home. The rooms itself is very comfortable and bright. Parking in front of the hotel very convenient. Amazing location close to everything but calm at the same time. The clean service is wow everywhere, also taking care of the room twice per day if needed. They also have towels for the pool and beach, so you do not need to think about it. We would be more than happy to come back!

The only thing I can point out for improvement are the gels and shampoos to be non disposable and more environmental friendly.

As usual, the GDM is a stunning hotel. I love the rooftop, the pool, the service, and the workout space.

In comparison to several other places I have stayed in Heraklion, the room is in need of updates. I would expect a five star hotel to be in this process.

The laundry service pricing is absurd. Find a new service that will do a whole bag for 15 euro like everywhere else in Greece.

The breakfast is good with different varieties and good coffee. Good size room with comfortable bed and pillow. Location is about 15 minutes' walk to the old town pedestrian area, where there are many shops and restaurants. But along the way, there are also some restaurants locally. The Front desk staff Effie and Vicky are very friendly and helpful. The bus downstair go directly to the Knossos. palace Just buy the round-trip ticket by the machine. The Bus also pass-by the museum in town on the way back. The Hotel also arrange transfer to the airport.

The staff were amazingly helpful and welcoming and the hotel was chic and immaculate.

It is under the flight path of the airport, and parking is a nightmare. There is a car park on the opposite side of a very busy main road where they take your money first to enter, regardless of whether there is a parking space - which there wasn’t!!

The staff were wonderful. The location is perfect to walk to town, museums, the harbor. The wrap around balcony on our top floor room with a stunning view of the ocean was fabulous. The rooftop restaurant was a delight.

The property was perfect. It is in a stunningly beautiful building in a great location. Staff was very attentive to anything we needed. The rooftop pool and restaurant were beautiful, quiet, and relaxing. The restaurant staff took care of anything we needed very quickly. The room itself was beautifully decorated. It had high ceilings, a comfortable bed, great air conditioning, and a hot shower. The room was very quiet, and I got a great sleep here. The breakfast was perfect. There were so many options, hot food like bacon, eggs, all types of pastries, and a section of cold foods like cheeses, yogurt, and all types of fruits. There were also a lot of Cretan specialties. I really enjoyed talking to the staff member at breakfast who took the time to explain what all the Cretan foods were. The property is great value for the money. You get a truly five star experience!

Lovely well located and well furnished/appointed hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great facilities unfortunately wasn't there long enough to use the pool or gym. Overall very happy with my stay but there are a few things I have noted which were not up to the standard of such a hotel.

My room key stopped working twice. Staff explained it was due to mobile phone proximity. However, the second time it had not been anywhere near my phone. So I suspect the card system is somehow not as good as many other hotels. Also when I went for a coffee mid afternoon on the terrace, there was only one staff member there and several people were waiting for lunch and it took so long I left. No real drama for me but I realised also the people would be waiting for their lunch for a long time; and felt sorry for the staff member. Last thing was the noise from other rooms at night. I was surprised how the noise from other people and doors opening and closing was quite noticeable in my room. It didn't keep me awake so not a huge issue, just surprising for a hotel of this standard.

I only stayed one short night unfortunately but I loved everything about it. The room was lovely and super spacious, very clean. Everyone was super friendly, breakfast amazing as well. I wish I could have stayed longer

The hotel brings out a luxurious character from a previous era but unlike many of its peers it's very well maintained and conditioned making it a classic. Comfortable and huge beds. Great location next to the sea, port and city centre.

The parking space is relatively small and gets overcrowded easily. Also the way you enter and exit it, is somewhat old-fashioned and impractical because you always have to ring a bell and wait for the receptionist response to raise the bar.

Very close to the port and lovely property! The rooftop pool was a nice touch. There is also a restaurant up on the roof as well.
