This property is spotless and the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet is great especially the sweets section. This hotel exceeded our expectations.

This property gets a 10/10

We stay here regularly cause of the location and access to the city. The staff is excellent as well as the breakfast, and lovely rooftop lounge/ restaurant with views of the harbour. Many sites and restaurants within walking distance.

The rooms need a little updating, and the bathrooms especially with deep narrow tubs. The parking is somewhat limited, often returning late had difficult time finding space. Love my coffee, so the new coffee machines not great idea!

Central position so we could walk to museums and restaurants. Staff gave good recommendations for places to eat and also arranged private guide to Knossos.

The most remarkable aspect of this hotel is the quality of its staff. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly, whether at the reception, in the restaurant, or in housekeeping. It is truly a pleasure to be surrounded by such attentive and thoughtful people. The breakfast is truly excellent! A very wide selection of both savory and sweet options, with plenty of local products and dishes. I found the room very comfortable and well equipped, with a large bed, a spacious wardrobe, a comfortable sofa, a safe, a fridge, a hairdryer, and even a scale (very convenient for weighing luggage!). The room also offered a view of the sea & the fortress. The swimming pool overlooking the sea is very enjoyable, as are the sun loungers for relaxing. The hotel is not too far from the city center, but it does take about 5 to 10 minutes on foot to reach it. The advantage is that the hotel remains very quiet.

In my room, the TV was placed facing the desk, which meant it was neither in front of the sofa nor the bed, which was not very convenient. In the desk area of this junior suite, the chair was too low, not at the right height, and could not be adjusted. So for working, the conditions were not the best, especially since the pool area also did not provide a very practical space to work while enjoying the view. There were a few small tables, but very few, and placed very close to each other. As other guests came to have a drink, it was not really possible to work there. Other hotels chosen by my colleagues during this professional stay in Heraklion offered relaxation areas more suitable for working. I also regretted that the toilet was located inside the bathroom. Since I was alone, this was not an issue, but for a couple I prefer when the toilet is separate. The sea view was pleasant, but it also looked onto the “commercial” port and the surrounding area, which is not very attractive. That said, this is just a detail, as the view of the sea and the fortress is truly enjoyable. Finally, I found the price/quality ratio a bit high, considering everything I mentioned above.

Location was central, close to port, close to Starbucks, shops and good restaurants. The breakfast was excellent. Service was exceptional. Front desk clerks were all very helpful and friendly. They gave us great recommendations for restaurants and made reservations for us. The complimentary bottle of prosecco was a nice touch. The beds were extremely comfortable. Only wish that the shower was easier to get in and out.

Our room had a nice view of port and shoreline. Clean and great shower pressure. It's close to fort, old town, and shopping/restaurants. Big buffet, pool and rooftop bar was very nice. Front desk was extremely helpful.

I think the location despite being extremely close to everything, is not the prettiest. The key cards had to be replaced a lot as they are sensitive to phones.

Ours was a brief 2 night stop in Heraklion to visit the Temple of Knossos and walk along the walls of the old town fortifications. The hotel is an oasis of calm, especially when 3-4 large cruise ships begin disgorging their thousand of passengers each morning. Location is excellent, across the road from the ferry terminal, and within walking distance of the retail and dining heart of the city. Our two Junior suites (for 4) were modest in size and well appointed. The beds were super comfortable. Both suites included a spa bath (not used); also included is a desk and chair, and sofa. The balcony opened to a view of the harbour and the old Venetian Port. The water in the plunge pool on the top floor was cold and a refreshing antidote to the heat of the day. The breakfast spread (buffet doesn’t do the selection any justice) was incredible. The staff are wonderfully engaging. Being able to take a 5 minute walk to the ferry on day 3 was the icing on the cake.

Walking through the restaurant to enter the pool deck is a little odd. Maybe I missed the more direct means of access?

All the staff were very happy and smiley. They were really helpful and could not have been nicer. The hotel is well situated near the sea. The swimming pool area and bar is lovely with great views.

The room is very spacious. The matress is very comfortable. Even if the hotel is very close to aeroport and to port, the rooms are vers quite. The personnel are very nice and helpful, and all the time smiling. The food in the rooftop restaurant is very tasty as well.

Our room was very nicely decorated and a good size, with comfortable beds, and an expansive view of the harbor and Venetian wall. Breakfast was EXCEPTIONAL with more options than anyone could possibly dream of, and ALL of it was incredibly delicious; lots of interesting local farm-fresh items to try. There is also a very nice rooftop restaurant and bar where you can sit from afternoon into late evening with the same great view. A small but very nice pool and seating area are also on the roof. The fitness room had good quality, modern and adequate equipment. The staff was exceptionally friendly and warm at all times (Effie is THE BEST!!), and also helped us book whatever we needed, from taxi's that came quickly to excursions (e.g., Knossos and fabulous museums) and good advice about what to do and maps for how to get around. The hotel is conveniently located at the main port (we arrived by ferry and walked easily to the hotel) and is a short walk into the heart of the lively city, with many great places to eat and nightlife, TONS of shops, pretty town squares, buildings, fountains, etc. The Venetian wall is right across the street on the harbor too. We had a very pleasant and memorable stay and highly recommend it.

Pool a bit small

Great location, friendly reception team and roof bar staff. Very good service around the pool anf cool towels when it was hot. Rooms very comfortable and beds huge. Gym opened up early for me which was great as an early riser I could work out when I wanted. Rooftop pool and terrace lovely to relax after a day sightseeing.

Amazing breakfast great location

The location is one of the best in my opinion, the staff and breakfast are wonderful. The roof terrace is also lovely with great views of the Harbor, Venetian Fortress and has a lovely restaurant /bar service. Easy walking distance to city centre.

I think the rooms are a little dated and the bathrooms could definitely use an update. The deep narrow tubs are awkward to get into. The parking although nice is sometimes full with limited other options.

The staff were extremely nice and helpful. They were so kind that I felt overwhelmed! They made sure that every need we had was promptly addressed in the best shape possible :) The pool (rooftop) has an amazing view. You can always find many free sun beds with umbrellas to relax.

Everything. This was my second time at GDM Megaron. The location is great, the pool and restaurant are lovely with a great view of the harbor. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING! The selection of savory dishes along with exquisite desserts will always remain in my memory. Superb!!!

A high class hotel with amazing rooms and location. The hotel lobby area was amazing along with the Megaron room on the first floor. Outstanding rooms and bathrooms. We were upgraded to a port view and loved it. Nice rooftop restaurant and pool area as well. If needed, they have a nice fitness area. The receptionist at the hotel at check in and check out were ok but I wasn’t really impressed as other hotels. Maybe it is just me but I would not hold It against this property. We also appreciated the daily evening quotes slipped under our door. Also, the location from the ferry port and the bus station is perfect. It’s also a few blocks away from the city center. We would stay here again!

The only thing I can think of was the receptionist. Usually, you’re given some maps or recommendations and such but this wasn’t the case. Honestly though, it wasn’t a major issue.
