Generator Hostel, Copenhagen

Excellent location, friendly staff. Room was clean, and larger than I expected. The buffet breakfast was great - plenty of choice.

The common areas were old and in need of refurbishment, the carpet was worn out and looked dirty.

The USB connector to charge phones didn't work

Private room with ensuite, bed was comfy room was clean and great location. No kettle or coffee in the room. Great value for money!

Some areas were a bit outdated and creepy. Bathroom sink was in the sleeping area. My bed was falling apart, if I moved and hit any part of my body on the side of bed there was metal flat piece which was loose and made big noise when hit the other metal parts of the bed. This place not on the quality level modern use to be nowadays.

We were there for 1 night and we got exactly what we needed, a place to sleep. It's comfortable, it's clean and the staff is nice. Rooms are big.

Right in the city center! Around 10 mins walk to Nyhavn and the shopping street. Check in and check out were quick. They had everything we needed. Pretty awesome stay too. Some entertainment like shuffle board and games so you can interact with other guests.

Would have loved the possibility to cook but it's fine I guess, because they offered food and drinks at their bar.

Good value hostel/hotel close to the city centre. Friendly, helpful staff. Decent sized family room with one double bed and bunks for two. Comfortable beds. Pleasant bar and communal area with bar games and food

Rooms quite utilitarian - TV only had 4 channels! Would prefer toilet, shower and sink all to be in a self contained bathroom.

Our stay was great. A special thanks to Anto for being so helpful. The location was perfect, close to everything. Everything went smoothly, and we were very satisfied.

Great central location

Extremely noisy couldn’t sleep even if on the 4th floor on Saturday night because of the very loud music playing in lobby with DJ : you could hear and feel the vibrations all night so we didn’t get any sleep. But Sunday night we slept a bit better. We told the reception and they were nice and gave us late check out to sleep a few more hours. Pillows very uncomfortable, the toilet trash was already full when we checked into the room. Even the premium rooms were tiny you can’t really take out your stuff. Breakfast is terrible and not worth it.

Clean, busy but well located

Staff in bar area exceptionally rude. Interesting that as an older couple (compared to the mainly young demographic) we seemed passed over when waiting really patiently to be served. I’ve worked bars and know how busy it was but it was embarrassing that another customer had to prompt the staff to us after they were asked ahead of us. It felt uncomfortable and we chose not to use this area after that which was a shame.

The location was good , close to the main city and metro station. Room was clean and bed was compfy.

We stayed Friday -Monday . The music was very loud from the bar downstairs and didn’t stop till 1:30 so if your a light sleeper this would be an issue . Walking into the hotel that evening felt like a night club . Won’t recommend staying over the weekend if u have a young family and want a good night sleep

Good locations handy for Nyhavn. Very comfy beds. Was worried after reading reports of it being noisy but we heard no noise whatsoever. Cheap and cheerful!

Very inconvenient drain in the bathroom, all the water flows into the room, everything ends up wet in the bathroom In addition, you can not connect to the TV, various functions are blocked, only 5 channels left all in Danish language, no smart tv

Clean, great location not far to walk to go to Nyhavn. Pre-check in was easy. You also have to online checkout which they send to you to complete when leaving or you can go to reception. We booked twin room with en-suite bathroom for £70 which was cheap. Easy to find. Great bar with games and charging ports. Staff very friendly. Cheap prices in the hotel too for drinks etc Bathroom has a toilet, small sink and wet room type shower / floor.

No early check-in and the 2pm is rubbish, when you’ve been travelling and up since 4am to get there and then you arrive at 1:15pm and still can’t get in the room until the dead on 2pm hour. We’d pre-checked in and still had to show passport and wait in the queue for room keys, don’t see the point in online pre-check in when you still have to do this, seems pointless to me. We ended up sitting in the bar for half an hour but we just wanted to dump our stuff in the room, freshen up and get back out sightseeing. Lift sounds like you’re about to die, didn’t feel safe in it at all, but we were on the 4th floor with luggage and just walked 25mins from grand central train Station to the hotel / hostel and had been travelling since 4am so we risked it. Only one lift in the whole place for guests and you can be waiting a while for it to.

There is a bar on the ground floor witth loud music. Also there was no heating in the room on a pretty cold December night. No parking space, and scam like prices for the parkspots in the basement.

Simple but good breakfast, good rooms, full of people to hang out with. Young but familiar environment. Very nice staff

The bar was full of people drinking during dinner time, there was no separation so you were having dinner surrounded by people getting drunk.

I found it amazing that the check in staff do not speak a word of Danish when we are in the middle of Denmark and assume every one speak english . At least apologies and ask do you speak English. If I go to their countries I would say " I am sorry do you speak english " Also why they cannot even the number in danish ??? I think they refuse to learn any danish as english is cool. I sat in reception and 16 out of 20 check in people was danish native who came to the capital some old who might struggle a bit with english at least learn the most basic danish as number and too greet no one in reception spoke a word - i found it lazy and arrogant ...I travel so many places with booking.com stayed in 20 countries and never saw this attitudes: I think they on purpose hire people and say do not speak any danish at all even to all people or train any basic not needed

The location was great, very central, walking distance to different sightseeing, restaurants, bars, shops. Friendly and helpful stuff. We got an upgrade to a bigger room.

The common spaces of the hotel are crowded and loud.

The location was ideal - city centre with everything in walking distance and super easy to get to. Reported the shower not draining properly and maintenance arrived in less than 5 minutes to fix! Great if looking for a cheap weekend stay and won’t be spending much time in your room.

The booking.com accommodation description mentioned privacy curtains which none of the beds in our room had so felt like couldn’t have any privacy when in the rooms. Older crowd staying at the accommodation too so not really an 18 - 30s vibe.

Tv wasn’t working (not a big deal) hotel does seem a bit tired in places but again not a big deal.

You can find everything in the property, luggage storage, bar, resto, and you can opt for late checkout.

The location is great, we were 3 days in Generator, and had a superior twin room. Everything was fine. The hotel was close to the city center.

I liked the stuff there. They were so friendly to me.

There was no shampoo and body wash in the room, so maybe you can set them up, if it’s possible.

This was the third time I have stayed here, and always come back. Staff are always very helpful - I managed to buy a ticket for Jul at the Tivoli cheaper than at the gate. Location is easy to explore the touristy spots and more. Nice hot shower, and safe, secure dorm room. The lock box for my suitcase was large enough to fit in. Close to plenty of food and drink places, so going out for breakfast was easy. I wish I could have stayed longer but had go back to work.

The bed light was not so flexible, and not possible to adjust so that the light shined down to my side and not to the front of me when reading. Toilet didn't flush all the way most of the time, despite holding the flush button down for longer. Had to wait and flush about three times before the little amount of paper went down. This was in Room 515. Note`* The avatar shown on my comment is that of my husband's. I actually stayed here ( Natalie ) but Booking.com hasn't changed the profile despite me changing the account to under my name. I stayed in a female only doom with 6 beds.
