Sofitel Nile El Gezirah, Cairo

Position over Nile. Good food.

Outside area is shabby but that is Cairo.

Sofitel is my favorit hotel in Cairo. Everything is perfect. The service is great. I took my group to Sofitel and everybody was very satisfied.

It would be good to have a bigger variety for gluten free and vegetarian food.

Our stay was super comfortable, cozy and the staff were absolutely amazing. Malak at the front desk was awesome, we had booked a luxury room facing the Nile, she very kindly upgraded us to the suite and we were allowed late check- out. 100% Recommend staying at Sofitel El Gezira. Yhe view. the restaurants and the area are beautiful.

The staff friendly, the bed and room comfortable, breakfast outstanding with many chooses and delicious, view from room good. The lobby and Nile River views from the waterfront are beautiful.

The bathroom shower did not work properly and overall bathroom repairs and updating needed.

The view of the Nile is amazing, you wake up with the sun rising view. Excellent service, everyone has been very helpful and accommodating. Spectacular breakfast, and wonderful restaurants. We particularly enjoyed the Moroccan restaurant by the Nile.

I lived in Cairo for three years and always had been to the Sofitel to enjoy the terrace and the summer brunches at Le Sud restaurant. If you want to enjoy the Nile, most probably you will not find a better spot, as it is on the tip of Gezira island looking over the widest sector of the river close to downtown. It feels as if you were on an enormous ship on the river. That’s why decided to close my three year stay with some nights at the Sofitel and it didn’t deceive me: great views, wherever you are placed in the building. My room was pretty updated. It didn’t have a bath tub but it was not a problem for me. Plenty of free drinking water and decent amenities. Wonderful linen - the sheets are amazingly soft. Breakfast buffet was awesome, with real French pastries (which are impossible to find in most hotels in Egypt). Staff is wonderful in general, especially the breakfast shift and the waiters in the Nile terraces. Also the receptionists are very helpful.

The staff at Le Sud restaurant at night is constantly clearing the tables and they don’t let you enjoy your food and your overall experience as much as you could. Then this is a quite normal thing in Egypt but wouldn’t expect it in a 5 star hotel: they don’t know how to space entrées and main dishes, and they either bring the food all together or tightly spaced. The night buffet closes very early. The spa is lovely but the steam room was a bit colder than I expected.

This hotel in Cairo is pure luxury. The swimming pool and spa are gorgeous, the breakfast sitting on the edge of the Nile is stunning and delicious, the entry lobby with grand piano music is romantic, and the location on its own island means there’s no traffic noise which is pure bliss in Cairo

I loved the views from my room. The kind staff, the fact that they made my wife’s birthday so special. The breakfast was great too. The restaurants in the hotel had amazing food. The heated pool and the spa were perfect. I could go on. Best hotel.

The hotel and room were very good and staff were very friendly and professional. The seating area next to the river was great and a good choice of snacks and meals available. One of the stand out experiences was the quality of the breakfast. There was a very good choice of food and quality was exceptional.

The location was such that walking anywhere was not an option since the area around the hotel was not interesting and rather run down and dirty. Unfortunately this was our experience of many places in Egypt (Luxor, Aswan) so maybe was not a surprise. Taking taxis to places was the only option.

At Restaurant La Palmieria the food is not tasty at all, overpriced and bad quality of food, (suppose to be Morrocan food).

Mattress was not very comfortable. A little too firm for us We stayed for 6 nights. Breakfast was good but exactly the same every day .thats ok if you’re staying 2-3 nights but after that a little change would be good

The staff are outstanding, always welcoming, professional, and genuinely smiling. Every request was handled immediately and with great care. The Nile view is absolutely breathtaking and adds a special charm to the stay. Room cleaning and hygiene standards are excellent. We ordered food to the room, which arrived within a reasonable time and was delicious and well presented.

My only concern is the price, which was quite high for one night. However, considering it was 31 December, the day before Christmas and New Year celebrations, this is understandable.

Hey, it's nothing to do with the hotel itself. Cairo is the problem, sorry to say, but Cairo is a horrible place to be the only place you can kind of stay, be safe, be comfortble are HOTELS any western hotels basically

Was given free upgrade from junior suite to higher floor with great view of Nile rivers. Weather permitting could see pyramids at distance. Suite was very spacious with separate area for leaving and bedroom. Staff were very courteous with prompt service. Breakfast was decent but there were no Indian food options. There is though restaurant Namaste about 2km away and we went once there for dinner. I arranged the private day tours through hotel concierge, and it was good and prices were not very off from the market.

We had a beautiful view on the Nile. The hotel has a beautiful spa and pool which made it relaxing after a long day of visit of the historical sites and the city. The breakfast buffet was stunning. The staff was absolutely amazing, some of the best service I have seen during my travels and I travel extensively. Always extremely polite and accommodating. Incredible really.

My stay was fantastic. The hotel's location is stunning, the room was spacious and comfortable, the view of the Nile was magnificent, and the breakfast was delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful – a perfect base for exploring Giza and Cairo. The hotel's restaurant along the Nile created a wonderful atmosphere, especially the lighting during dinner. A pleasant surprise in December was the heated outdoor pool overlooking the Nile.
