Rated a 9 due to lack of gym on site, also the TV was somewhat old and kept shutting off

Great location. Stylish looking hotel. Bed was comfortable in bigger “roomy” room, with some thoughtful extras provided like chocolate, postcards and stamps.

Overcrowded, small and noisy reception area with queue to arrive and depart. The bar/cafe area is difficult to use - too busy and music bit loud. Very expensive rooms

Stayed here to celebrate King’s Day and This was the perfect hotel! The location is amazing and the special touches the hotel itself had for the day were amazing. My only point of criticism is the lobby gets very busy which can be overwhelming but if you like staying somewhere with a bustling city feel to it this is for you?

A few times during our stay we went down to reception to have a couple of drinks, only to be told by staff we couldn't sit at a table in the restaurant as they are only for people eating - even though the restaurant was not full. All of the seating outside the restaurant was occupied by people on laptops working. One afternoon we decided we would have some snacks at the restaurant so we could get a table/seat. We ordered a bottle of wine which we were told 5 minutes after ordering they had run out of. We then wanted to order some food and were told the fryer was broken so the server told us the few things we could order. Considering how much we were paying I really expected better service, felt like they favoured locals with laptops over paying guests!

The staff were super friendly, especially Juan who helped to book taxis, helped with charging my phone and also helped carry my case to the taxi when leaving. The food at the restaurant was superb. They had a dj playing on Saturday night. There is a fun Photo Booth! And lots of complementary water. A Lush gift was placed in our room for my daughters 16th Birthday. Thank you!!

Room size and an extra mirror in the main bedroom or bathroom for applying makeup would help or replace the smoked glass mirror in the bedroom as I found it difficult to apply make up.

The views out our window were amazing, especially sunsets. (and this was January!) We were in the attic with these great wooden beams to duck, but it was very comfy. Shower/bath was also really good.

Would have been great to have a bed/breakfast option.

The room, location, and restaurant were all great. Very central and close to everything that you would want to see on a short trip to Amsterdam.

The location was incredibly convenient, and the room was nice, although I wish I'd stayed on a higher floor. That was my fault for not making a specific request. Overlooking the canal was a treat for a first time visitor to Amsterdam.

The service in the restaurant was slow. There was an event at the same time we were eating, and our meal was delayed so much that we had to leave before it was even served because we had theater tickets. The waiter actually had us pay our bill and kept promising that the food was on it's way... and then 5 minutes later repeated the same promise. I knew we were tight on time, but this threw a monkey wrench into things and caused considerable tension between my wife and me. The next day, the manager did credit our bill but because we had paid for dinner separate from our bill that became a little complicated — still the manager was very nice about it offering an explanation rather than an excuse. Finally, the person who actually checked us out made an error on the bill such that we were mistakenly charged 85,000 Euro which temporarily froze my AMEX account until I resolved the issue in the U.S. If I didn't carry alternative cards and cash the trip home would have been difficult. The mix up was human error and the manager honestly thought she caught it before the charge went through but I guess it was "processed" too quickly. Obviously, AMEX rejected the charge after all, my limit is insufficient to cover a charge of 85k in Euro but they did put a fraud notice on my account which is why my card was temporarily frozen.

Could do with better luggage moving facilities around - some of those rooms are difficult to access with big bags.

Outside of the building was beautiful ( especially at night), the attention to detail in the eclectic styling, the staff and central location (20mins walking in all directions to what you might want to see in Amsterdam).

The bar and restaurant in the lobby were very crowded and sometimes difficult to find somewhere to sit as a hotel guest. It appears that people who are not hotel guests use the areas to work, meet, eat etc. There is DJ music (quite chilled but still creates lots of people) from 8pm-1am on the weekends. The room and general hotel decoration has a very retro eclectic vibe but in the rooms this is to the detriment of being functional. There were no towel, robe or coat hooks in our room (Roomy category no. 303) and the writing desk area took up all space for where you could put travel bags, clothes etc. so the room looked like a mess after you checked in to it. Room 303 was very quiet which was good and what we asked for. The bathroom had no where to put a toothbrush, cosmetics etc and it only had a half glass shower screen so everything in the small space (floor and the shelves under the vanity got wet).

Surprised the rooms were not made up in the mornings. Apparently this is due to 'eco measures'. I would agree changing towels etc should be reduced but no harm in making the bed and at the nightly price, it should definitely be done.

It was a very vibey, cool place. The design is cozy, makes you feel at home. The rooms were comfy, the shower very spacious and lovely. The food was great and every turist attraction is 5-15 minute walking distance, the stuff was kind and helpful.

The restaurant was busy whole day, but the waiters couldn't handle the situation too well. At night it was pretty noisy, we could here doors banging all the time. There was no place to put our clothes besides a couple of hangers.

Location is perfect, canal view rooms are special with high windows and lots of natural light. Lobby / bar / restaurant area can get a bit crowded with non-staying guests but there is a great vibe.

The lobby common area - it’s has more of a cafe vibe for locals to hang out at, and i wasn’t expecting that. It makes the hotel feel unromantic

Breakfast was good, cooked to order and served at the table instead of a buffet. The 'cosy' room was comfortable and tastefully decorated and furnished, plenty of space for one, or for a couple for a couple of nights

The wait for room service was an hour (they were trialing a new menu the night I was there, and they did tell me there would be a wait). The front desk is in the busy restaurant, which can make it difficult to communicate during peak times

Have to be honest getting a seat & served at the bar. Too many plotted up for the day & evening with just a green tea . Personally I would allocate an area for them

I really like the location and love the restaurant downstairs. Great spot to hang out if you don’t want to go out and don’t want to be stuck in the room.

We had horrible service at the lobby bar twice. It was noisy in our room at times. While we stayed in one of their nicest biggy rooms, it was on the ground floor so views of the canal weren’t as good as expected and people could easily see in our room.

Room was quite basic and didn’t have the luxury feel you’d get from other similar priced hotels. Breakfast was from the in house cafe so didn’t have the usual array of produce you’d expect from a top end hotel.

Lacked a lot of facilities, rooms didn’t have any storage, there was never enough water supplied, bathroom didn’t have enough space to hold a toiletry kit anywhere. No deal breakers but would have been more comfortable if there was a bit more practicality. The rooms with canal views had a beautiful view but the windows don’t open properly, just a few inches to let a bit of air in.

Lovely atmosphere hotel which was clean and modern with friendly staff. Bedroom was bigger than expected and the bed was significantly bigger than advertised.

The poached eggs at breakfast were hard. Everything else from our stay was fantastic.

Great room! the level of cleanliness and the comfortable bedding were good as well. The hotel's location was also convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions. However, what truly set this hotel apart was the exceptional service provided by the staff, particularly the front desk attendant named Mariana and her colleague. They went above and beyond what we needed. Our experience In Amsterdam wouldn’t been the same without their help.

Staff were outstanding; room was functional, but small. Food in restaurant was very good and also convenient.

We didn't have the breakfast included but room service was very quick compared to most hotels. The building was very nice and quirky and the room itself was quite spacious. Perfect for a couple.

It was impossible to add our teenager to the booking - even though I felt the room was very large, we couldn't have another person in it. It is not as family friendly as some hotels, but it is still very nice for a couple or single person travelling.

The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable!

Location was great. 20-25 min walk to canal cruise, Heineken Experience, and the Van Gogh Museum. 7 min walk to Anne Frank house. Felt very safe walking in Amsterdam. We did take a cab from the Centraal train station.

It is a lovely hotel with a great offering; I'll definitely consider it in other cities too.

The pictures and descriptions on the website for the rooms could have been a bit better, but the rooms themselves were lovely.
