Sir Nikolai Hotel, Hamburg

I love their interior throughout the hotel.

Breakfast, bar, friendly staff, bedroom. Staff facilitated an early check in which was very much appreciated.

A little cool in the bedroom but okay.

Central to all attractions. Excellent breakfast. Warm & cosy bar. Staff facilitated an early check in and stored luggage on check out, Walking distance to lovely restaurants.

Location is excellent near the port and old city. Very quiet. Beds are very comfortable. Best shower head we had in Europe. Breakfast is excellent. Staff were super friendly. Excellent restaurant recommendations.

The Nikolai is pure luxury decorated elegantly. High quality furnishings and thoughtful design abound. Staff are warm and informative. Breakfast was extensive, beautifully presented and fresh.

The hotel requires the offsite parking pass card to be returned to the hotel after leaving the parking facility. The city driving makes this difficult. Be sure to add extra time to your schedule to accommodate.

Gorgeous boutique property very elegant room with high end bar with high end drinks inside the room and large comfy bed. Large shower. Delicious breakfast. Delicious tapa restaurant was located directly next store.

Parking was difficult as area is located downtown. We were able to park near by but had to pay the meter parking which was tedious.

Everything was amazing! The bed the room the design the hospitality and the service. Thank you we will be back

Had a great stay in Hamburg at the Nikolai hotel. Probably among the first time that a hotel has exceeded the expectations. Great location, very nice room and services.

not bad, just a comment: i asked for twin beds (they do not have separate beds at all but supposedly do have rooms with separate mattresses) and they said it was confirmed that we would get such a room. we ended up getting a normal small double bed (extremely narrow, so if you are not close to the person you are travelling with, book 2 rooms instead). after asking at the reception, they gave us a different room (an upgrade, as far as i could tell), but the bed was the same. however, the staff did change the single huge blanket and gave us two separate blankets, which was very much appreciated! thank you!

The fridge did sign but I received 10% discount for that.

Bathroom fan didn't work. Didn't have breakfast at the hotel as it was very expensive but there are nice cafes nearby.

The room was nicely furnished. The bathroom had “his and hers” sinks with compartmentalized shower and toilet areas. The hotel was close to the city center and just across the beautiful Hamburg Port authority building.

The chef behind the food counter appeared disinterested and unhappy in his job. He’s the weakest link in that group. We asked for bacon and eggs and he dismissed us by saying that we have to tell that to the servers. A disappointment in a service organization who uses bureaucracy to avoid work.

We had a fantastic stay at the Nikolai Hotel Hamburg. The hotel is clean, well presented and in a great location. The staff are friendly and our suite was amazing, so many thoughtful little details were included. We look forward to returning.

The quality of the property was a real WOW! Exceeding every expectation. The room was EXCELLENT and service top class. Sometimes you do not get value for money, but this was definitely the case!

That parking was a bit difficult as it was 2 blocks away and the opening of the garage on Sunday is a bit complicated. However a staff member was so kind to walk to the garage to help us personally. Really appreciate that!

What’s not to like!? We booked the supreme room as I wanted a fabulous bath and it did not disappoint! The bath was awesome, the shower (which was a normal shower and rain shower option), and the overall bathroom were beautiful. We had a courtyard facing room which was great - it’s not a courtyard where people are stood outside making noise. The bed was so comfortable, there was even a chaise lounge. There was complimentary water and sweets. The minibar price list is on a QR code link. The breakfast was absolutely AMAZING! Juices, coffee, tea, beautiful meats and cheeses on the buffet as well as croissants, breads, cereal, and fruit. There was also a menu which could be ordered from (no extra cost unless you wanted extra eggs on top on the options) and that menu had pancakes, toasted muffins and eggs, and omelette options too. The staff were friendly, were kind enough to speak English with us, and we were able to leave our luggage before and after check in. The hotel was close to so much - 5 minute walk to Miniatur Wunderland, 10 minutes into the centre (Rathaus, shops, etc), but also super quiet.

Surprisingly grand vestibule. Compact bedroom adequate for two adults. Breakfast room & veranda sited overlooking one of the many canals of Hamburg.

Little in the way of public transport options for this location, considerable walking distance to any attractions.

Nice and cozy rooms and great location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a bit of confusion with the invoicing as the hotel charged us for the mini bar even though we didn‘t take anything. But they resolved it very quickly and we got the money back.

There was no price list for the mini bar in the room which was confusing. The check-in was a bit confusing as we already checked-in online but still needed to provide some information. Not sure if the online check-in is that beneficial. The toilet is quite small even though the room seems to have the space to extend the cabin a bit.

Extremely nice staff, everything was fast, efficient and with great attitude. Location is great. The hotel has beautiful design in the common areas and in the rooms.

Bedding was not to my taste, so I didn’t manage to get a good sleep. But this is very individual preference.

I thought nearly 400 euros a night a bit on the pricey side for the facilities offered . But great location and friendly staff.

Staff was not very friendly at check-in.

- The location was excellent; I walked almost everywhere. - I really liked the view from the window, and the staff was incredibly helpful. - The interiors are beautifully designed and very stylish. - The lighting scenarios added a cozy atmosphere. - The bed and linens were super comfortable. - The toiletries in the bathroom were delightful.

- The refrigerator was quite noisy, which I only realized when I was trying to fall asleep. It took me a while to figure out how to turn it off. - For a hotel of this level, it would be nice to have slippers and a bathrobe provided in the room by default. - It wasn't clear that the water in the large glass bottle was a complimentary item. Perhaps a paper tag or holder would be helpful. - It was a bit tricky to figure out how to use the phone (even though it's a beautiful design). A small sticker at the bottom with the number to dial reception could be a nice touch.

Very small room. No standard bath. All open with door to the room. Means shower and toilet in cubicle. Not safe for elderly people. Just a trick to save place.

The room was very beautiful, the bet extremely comfy and breakfast buffet was excellent.

Friendly and efficient staff

It was a quiet area in the middle of the warehouse district. Nice walk to town hall area or the piers but may be too far for someone with mobility problems.

The location was perfect, close to the city center, the main station and to other train connections.

Great location, beautiful interior and friendly staff who helped us late a night move to another room incl our luggage while we were out for dinner.

Breakfast was overpriced at €26 per person per night so we didn't get that (you can get coffee and scrambled eggs with sourdough bread for €15 at a cafe 300 m away). The rooms without a view has barely any daylight. (Windows towards the inner yard)

The bed size was awesome, a real queen size and not those small twin bed that we see too often in Europe. The location is perfect, walking distance to anything that there is to see and 10 minutes walk to subway station. Helpful and friendly staff.

Not much. Maybe the fact that the breakfast seemed a bit expensive. There should be a la carte option for those that don't eat that much, maybe there was... And there should be some food offer at night to really take advantage of the nice hotel bar.
