Guest House Duoro, Porto

This guest house was a wonderful find right along the Douro River. The staff members Luis, Phillip and Louisa were exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable, courteous young people. The breakfasts were beautifully presented with the freshest fruits, cheeses, nuts and eggs if you wanted them. The location is great, walkable to many places, excellent restaurants easy to find transportation. Highly recommend.

There were no negatives. They operate by having high standards.

The staff were amazing. I felt very much at home and welcomed. The breakfast was excellent and served with a smile. Nothing was too difficult for the staff including a lot of information about Porto.

There are no words to describe the devotion of the personnel to their guest’s comfort and pleasure. My husband who has early Alzheimer’s could not find his way back to the hotel. With an umbrella Luis went out to search for him (the Apple Airtag failed). Then he helped us take our luggage to meet our friend’s car. Always smiling friendly and reassuring. All the staff had this attitude that nothing was too much trouble for them. I have lived 35 years in 16 different countries and have traveled extensively. I have never written such a recommendation. The guesthouse and staff are remarkable.

Breakfast was a feast of fresh fruits, breads and cheese. Served by Luis with a smile.

The staff were friendly, helpful and charming. The view from our room was fabulous looking over the river. Wonderful breakfast full of fresh fruit and more. It's close to some superb family run restaurants which were recommended by the staff at the Guest House. Although it's a lively part of town the sound didn't intrude into our room at the top. We liked the cosiness of the small room.

The Aircon was a little loud, but it didn't stop us from sleeping.

The staff in this property are excellent! They really make the difference to this hotel, providing friendly, considerate service that made my stay a delight. The location is excellent - in the action near the river but the rooms are quiet. The breakfast is excellent and they are happy to provide additional items such as yoghurt and cooked eggs if you like.

We stayed recently at Guest House Douro and it was an amazing experience. Luis could not have been kinder and more welcoming. He consistently went out of his way to ensure our stay was a memorable one. For Luis alone, we highly recommend the Guest House Douro.

The breakfast was fantastic with an assortment of fruits, meats, even scrambled eggs done to perfection. Louis, Louisa and Philip have to be the best staff my wife and I have ever encountered in our travels. They helped or offered a hand in every circumstance including serving breafast while managing the front desk … no small feat! Lastly, João, the driver who came to pick us up at the Campangha train station was also very personable and extremely helpful giving us various restaurants to try and places to visit.

Insofar as we are concerned this boutique hotel pushed all the right buttons and we were very pleased.

We cant say enough about the staff. It felt like you were staying at a fiends home. They were so helpful with any request or questions that we had. At our first breakfast we had to take pictures of our breakfast plate. A beautiful presentation and you did not go away hungry. We were amazed at our morning host who would speak English to us and seamlessly speak French to the couple at the next table.

I wish we would have gotten a room overlooking the Douro river.

Wonderful facility… Luis was exceptional, helped is with luggage transfer along Camino. Directed us to an awesome Restaurant. He couldn’t have been better.. very accommodating. Luisa also the next morning was just perfect. Breakfast was awesome and we did have. Wonderful experience.. plus the beds were awesome!

The location, facilities and staff friendliness make this property a must stay in Porto. The service was exceptional! The hotel staff really know how to look after their guests. I felt welcomed and right at home from the first day of my visit. The location is also a bonus! This property is located right at the riverfront. Every aspect of my stay was perfect.

The rooms are a bit small, but given the location, i was not expecting anything else.

We were made to feel very welcome the moment we arrived. It is a very intimate guesthouse -Luis and Luisa could not have been more helpful and friendly. They helped us with dinner recommendations, directions and travel bookings. The breakfast included was delicious and I highly recommend this guesthouse.
