Hotel Courtyard Downtown, Detroit

There were definitely some good and not-so-good moments during my stay. The valet parking was a highlight—super convenient, and the team was friendly, helpful, and ready to assist at any time. The rooms were modern, clean, and comfortable, which I really appreciated. However, a few things took away from the overall experience. The front desk staff lacked warmth and attention to detail, which made interactions feel a bit impersonal. The hotel restaurant staff were rude, and the floors from the lobby to the restaurant were greasy, sticky, and unpleasant. Also, the room lighting could use some improvement—it felt a little too dim. There’s a lot of potential here, but better hospitality and attention to cleanliness would make a big difference.

No breakfast available but nasty Applebees that gave weird breakfast sandwiches with hamburger buns. Barf

We arrived at 4:30 only to find out that our room wasn’t ready and wouldn’t be ready when we left the hotel to go to a concert. We have to change and get ready for event in a public bathroom. We asked for some monetary compensation but they said that nothing was available since we booked through a third party. This is the last time I will ever book via a third party. The staff was very apologetic but the experience was totally unacceptable and definitely not worth $556 per night.

The hotel was excellent. The staff were helpful and kind and very apologetic about the very minor construction in the lobby. But it didnt affect our stay in the slightest. Our room was brand new and very beautiful, comfortable, and modern. The view was amazing for our 5 year old grandson, who we were taking to Legoland. He loved looking out over the city in our room and out over the river by the elevator. The views were amazing! Having an Applebee's and IHop restaurant in the hotel, exclusive to hotel guests, was so convenient after a long day sightseeing. The city was abuzz with fans for the shows and hockey games, which meant long lines for every other downtown restaurant. It was so nice to go back to the hotel, be seated easily, and have a delicious meal without having to wait an hour plus. I will definitely be staying here again! 10 out of 10!

I was double charged for my room. The charge will take 5 days to drop off leaving me out of over 300 dollars for that time. The tv didn’t work. The room never reached our desired temperature. The thermostat was set 5 degrees below what the room actually reached. The gym and pool were both unavailable

Location was great and I appreciate any place with valet parking staff were all lovely and bubbly!! Made the stay great!

We booked the hotel and chose it largely based on having a pool. My sister had spinal fusion surgery so it’s very important she can swim as part of her rehab. When we arrived we found out the fitness and pool area were under renovations. We pull have chosen a different property had we been informed. I feel some financial compensation is due- not a full refund but partial. She was in a lot of pain that day due to not being able to swim.

The staff went above and beyond to make our stay good. Major kudos to them!!

Location close to St Andrews. Easy walk for a concert.

The construction workers doing the remodel beginning at 6am with hammering. Should probably wait until 9am. But the rooms and hotel is looking great.

Great location in Downtown Detroit and close to the Riverfront Walk. Lots of good restaurants located within walking distance from the hotel. Hotel is located opposite General Motors HQ. They also have complimentary coffee/tea facilities in the room. Staff were very friendly and very helpful

The in house restaurant was the worst place we have ever eaten at. Very slow service at night, no eating utensils provided. Two waitresses obviously “stoned” on duty. In the morning badly mixed pancake mix made them inedible!!

No restrooms near pool, pool shower stall was freezing water, and amount of staffing at restaurants were almost none. I waited 30 min in line to an I hop before giving up, and 10 for a beer at Applebee's then another 10 min for the check. Neither place buisy. Ps. No USB ports in room.

It was close to the people mover, pool was nice. One room was very nice and clean, other room was HORRIBLE musty and drywall all over the floor and management sucked with fixing issues with our room. Offered to have someone come vacuum next day and they ever showed before we left. We stayed the whole weekend.

The dry wall on our ceiling was falling off all over the floor, was told they would send someone up to clean it and they didn't (we stayed the whole weekend). Room also smelt very musty and not safe for my 3 year old. Also waiting 2 hours for towels at pool, luckily kids where content while waiting (we called front desk 3 times and other family did as well). Restaurants were WAYYYY understaffed and hotel also tried to make us pay for parking on both rooms but we only had ONE vehicle! Management did not offer anything to accommodate all the issues we had with the one room.

I cannot figure out how this hotel has such a high rating. it was dirty, very outdated, our room smelled like mold, the temperature in the room never dropped below 77 because they turned on the boilers and cannot turn them off. the staff was pleasant but that cannot make up for the hotel conditions.

The room was good, liked the size and was clean. The staff were helpful and professional. The location was perfect for the convention I was in town attending.

I did not like the Wifi being unavailable, especially for the price of the rooms. My computer would not access the Wifi due to being open and unsecured. I would suggest having a more secured connection with a password for guests.

It was close to everything we wanted to do. The staff was very helpful with informing us how to get about.

The bathroom drain didn't work. There was no housekeeping. When we arrived at 5:00 we were assigned a room when we went in it looked like a tornado struck. We had to wait an additional hour to get into our room. I got food poisoning on Friday night from eating at their Applebee's restaurant so we couldn't do the touristy things we had planned. 7

Loved the heated pool, weight lifting options, deck view, being able to walk around the city, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable bed.

There were alot of broken things in my room, like things in the shower area, couldn't use the safe, the water pressure was bad and it would get really hot then kinda warm. The room coffee bar wasn't stocked right. I would say also if your renting a room and ihop is in the same building then you should offer at least complimentary breakfast pass for ihop at least 4 guests if you have a 2 bedroom suite.

Location was great. Bed was comfortable and pull out sofa was perfect for our 10 year old son.

The toilet was dirty. The cold water wasn't working when we got back to our room around 11:30 pm so the toilet wouldn't flush. The pool was closed and the pool is the main reason I chose this hotel.

I love the pool & hot tub

It was a old smell in the hotel. It was a little dated. I didn’t know you had to pay to park & that you would be charged additional fees at the time of check in.

The location was perfect for the application of why we were in the area. We were within walking distance of everything.

Despite having made advance reservations and pre-paid, we had to wait approximately 90 minutes to receive our room which made meeting a deadline impossible.

Location to Comerica Park. The bartender and manager stayed open late for concert goers to be able to get a bite to eat and that was very much appreciated. The rooms are spacious and beds are super comfortable!

People mover was not working and staff didn't know. We chose this hotel for that purpose to get to the concert. The price was very expensive. I've stayed there before for much less.

The pool was not available due to maintenance and our floor’s ice machine was also not functioning.
