G Guesthouse Itaewon, Seoul

The hosts were so thoughtful and attentive from start to finish. The checkin and checkout process both went very smoothly. I quite enjoyed the common area, which spurred a lot of social interaction between guests, as did the rooftop area. One of the hosts was making lunch on a day while I was there and offered to share with me and another guest. We all ended up having a lovely meal together with great conversation. The hostel is located very close to the main strip of bars in Itaewon. I'll certainly stay here again when I'm in Itaewon in the future.

The hostel is easily located in Itaewon, feels safe and was calm at night. The common space was cute with a traveller vibe and I imagine the rooftop terrace is a nice place to hang out during the warmer months.

To call the room ”deluxe twin room” is bizarre, because it looks more like a prison cell. However, it was clean and it had even a stove and a fridge. The shower, using the same tap as the one in the sink, is quite inconvenient. I booked the hostel because of the social aspect, but there was zero social activity and people staying there weren’t interested in getting to know others. I guess it’s a matter of luck though.

The location was great, wish I had the chance to try the breakfast but wasn’t able to as I had to rush for a flight. The decor gave it a nice rustic feel. Owner was helpful and friendly online as well as in real life.

The lower bed was a bit too short for me a 165cm female to sit down and scroll on the phone but lying down was fine.

The people. First they were so welcoming and nice. I was even offered to check-in an hour earlier. 😊 And also the guests had made the place cozy and vibes were good. The rooms were nothing special but they covered all the necessary needs. And you had a power outlet nearby.

Be aware that stairs leading up to the G guesthouse or then down to reception may be difficult if you have a suitcase, but there are people around willing to help 😊. The luggage storeage is outside, so there may be weather influence.

It was quiet overall for the Monday and Tuesday nights I stayed. The floor heating was very quick to come on, the shower was hot and had good water pressure . The staff was exceptionally helpful, offering to bring my heavy suitcase down two flights of stairs, coming to the room when I couldn’t turn on the a/c (heat) and replacing the batteries in the remote control. The man in reception ordered a taxi for me so that he could track its arrival and I could wait inside until it arrived. I truly felt like a guest, rather than a customer!

My room was next to the stairs and there was some noise from people talking loudly on the stairs late at night which interfered with my sleep one night. The breakfast doesn’t include protein, only carbohydrates

Place is clean and great for the price. No luxury for sure but it’s in a good area so if you just sleep there it’s perfect!

Place is very small and the beds would be to small for a larger person than medium.

Close to many trendy shops, money exchange, phone store with international sim cards, super market, pizza place, halal foods, local attractions and subway line.

This is a second review as I stayed two different stays. :)

Centrally located and close to many tourist locations in Seoul. Staff is wonderful, the lady at the front desk is a gem - she is very helpful and had a great sense of humour. The other staff members are very helpful and nice. The beds are clean and rooms are tidy. The breakfast itself and common area were decent. Good coffee.

The property is located on the side of a hill - so be mindful - There is a flight of stairs to the main entrance and a flight of stairs to go to the check-in and breakfast area. Breakfast would benefit if supplemented with boiled eggs or the like.
Some people don't lock the door to the individual rooms and main door downstairs is open almost all times. Could be changed for automatically closing doors, and key card entry to individual rooms and main entrance hostel.

Showers combined with toilets, shared and small. Not communal showers or anything - small individual shower rooms in hallway that if taken, you're out of luck.

This hostel is in the heart of Itaewon, close to the bars and restaurants but on a quieter street. It's social (you can meet other travellers in the check-in area or on the terrace but it's not a party place.

Both Shrek and the girl working there are adorable and helpful.

The dorms are cleaned daily and the guests are respectful.

- the free breakfast consists of coffee, tea, toast bread, jam and peanut butter. No healthy options such as eggs or fruits are available
- there is no working space - the common are can easily get busy with people chatting so if you're coming for remote work it's not your place

Great location, close to the station, walking distance to all the bars/clubs in Itaewon.
Staff were very accommodating and friendly.
Rooms were cleaned regularly, Towels were available daily on request.
Owner recommended a fantastic restaurant on my last day that was possibly my favourite meal of my whole trip.

Socialising can be hit or miss, lots of social people at the hostel, but you had to be at the right place at the right time to find a group to go out with, not the biggest loss as Seoul is pretty easy/fun to navigate as a solo traveller.

The location of this property is great, and the rooftop is amazing for having a drink in the evening and meeting people. I had such a sociable time at this hostel and Itaewon is a great neighbourhood.

There is little social space at this hostel that is under cover, and the common area inside is small and doubles as the kitchen too.

Close to a lot of Itaewon hotspots, nice Korean staff, lots of facilities (eg laundry machines, breakfast, common area, rooftop). For a 4 person dormitory, we paid less than 50,000KRW per person - this was the cheapest for an overnight trip, and why we chose this property.

There was hair in the bedding from previous travellers, and the shared bathrooms consist of a single toilet and wet-room shower. 3/4 of us did not shower there, as the bathrooms had extensive black mould. We live in Korea, so we expect some mould, however, this was more than most of us felt comfortable with. Our floor had 4 bathrooms, to accommodate 4 rooms of 4 people each, along with travellers from a different floor - we were frequently waiting to use the bathroom.

Great price and location was good, near lots of bars and 5 minute walk from the subway station. Rooms were basic but all you need with a good sized locker. There are some outdoor lockers the reception will keep your stuff in before checkin or after checkout and it they are full they found room in the lobby area which was great.

There are quite a few outdoor stairs to go up to the hostel and a set to go back down to the main lobby. Stairs to get to second floor rooms were very narrow but doable. The breakfast was very basic, cereal, toast and juice options but better than nothing! Bathroom didn't have a separate shower it was all the same open area as the toilet. There was a shower head that came from the sink so the whole bathroom got wet when showing. There was a set of flip flops in the bathroom to keep your feet dry if you needed the bathroom after a shower.

the bathrooms were sometimes kind of dirty because the shower is in the middle of the room so the floor was sometimes wet.

There's a used bed in my room that had not been occupied for 4 nights, but no one tidied up.

Great location near the metro, lots of bars, restaurants and cafes around. Breakfast is simple but good. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Small common room but it has a good social atmosphere and it's easy to meet people.

Not super clean- the facilities are looking really run down and the building probably needs some maintenance. Major thing to be aware of is the top bunks in the dorms don't have curtains while the bottom bunks do, so if you want some extra privacy you better hope you get given a bottom bunk.
