The Line Hotel, Los Angeles

3515 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90010, USA (show on map)

The Line Hotel is a vibrant centerpiece of Los Angeles’ Koreatown, housed in a striking mid-century building originally constructed in 1964. Once known as the Wilshire Plaza Hotel, this architectural gem underwent a brilliant transformation led by designer Sean Knibb, who embraced the building’s Brutalist concrete bones while infusing it with a modern, artistic sensibility that reflects the neighborhood’s multicultural energy.

The hotel’s most iconic feature is its floor-to-ceiling windows, which provide guests with cinematic, panoramic views stretching from the Hollywood Hills to the downtown skyline. Inside, the design is intentionally playful; you’ll find unexpected touches like ceilings covered in recycled T-shirts and quirky art pieces, such as ceramic vases molded from repurposed detergent bottles, making every room feel like a creative loft.

Dining and nightlife are essential to the hotel’s identity. The property features Openaire, a stunning greenhouse-style restaurant that celebrates indoor-outdoor California living, and Break Room 86, a retro karaoke bar created by the Houston Brothers that pays homage to their Koreatown upbringing. It is a genuine community hub where locals and travelers mingle, blurring the lines between a traditional hotel and a neighborhood living room.

Located directly across from the Metro Purple Line, the hotel is perfectly positioned for exploration. You are just a short trip from cultural heavyweights like LACMA and the Griffith Observatory. Whether you’re hunting for the best Korean BBQ in the city or heading toward the historic Hollywood Walk of Fame, The Line offers a sophisticated yet accessible home base.

Expert reviews

New York Times review:

“The Line Hotel retains some of the stripped-concrete walls and industrial-chic aesthetic. This new hotel is shaping up to be the “it” location for night owls and adventurous omnivores. Its biggest accomplishment is introducing visitors to the gems of little-known Koreatown.”

The Guardian review:

“The Line has a modern industrial feel straight out of slow lifestyle magazine Kinfolk, mixed with Korean simplicity and bright colours. There are plenty of nightspots within a mile’s radius.”

Too expensive for this standard.

Pool, location

the plug was falling out of all the sockets in the room, there was a hole in the bathtub. Very expensive parking. No microwave in the room

Great location nice vibes rooms could use some updating

The pool area was nice and the open air restaurant is beautiful. It’s a shame it was closed on Monday and Tuesdays. Also ashamed that the bar by the pool closes at 2:30 when it was a 90° day. The lobby has a nice vibe and the lobby bar was decent. The Alfred’s coffee shop was nice too and not too overpriced. The location is fantastic

It is a little painful to pay that much money for the room and then have to pay $66 plus tax plus tip for valet parking each night. The beds were not comfortable. The pillows are flat. The mattresses seem very old and spongy soft like old springs that have been used too many times the shower didn’t turn on very well and the air-conditioning fan was so loud and never really got the room any colder than about 70°.

Almost perfect

The room was comfortable and the window was great. Lobby bar and food. Location was good.

Being charged an extra 25.00 to be higher to look at the bank and 65.00 for parking.

Pleasant

Good food and entertainment options in the building. Comfortable bedding. Good blackout blinds.

Surprisingly noisy in the room. Despite the concrete walls, there was a lot of street noise and hallway noise that could be heard. For such a high-end hotel, surprised that they didn’t have robes in the room. Also they charge for EVERYTHING. never seen a hotel charge you to empty the mini bar fridge. Weird that you have to walk through a nice restaurant to get to the pool. There was also some very obvious chipping and wear and tear in the bathtub and the handle fell off in my hand when I turned on the shower.

Pleasant

I was quite disappointed by the room. It was very clean and made up well, but all of the furniture had way too much wear and was visibly distressed. What I mean by that is the corners were all scuffed and there were lots of visible scratches, which I wouldn't expect for an upscale hotel. Additionally, the layout of the room was poor and there wasn't a comfortable place to sit other than the desk. The bed was really just a mattress sitting on top of a pad — meaning the sheets came out with the most gentle pull. Wifi went in and out every 20 minutes or so and made it challenging to work remotely and take video calls.

Great stay

The hotel itself is massive, there is a small coffee shop in the lobby - pretty good coffee and theres plenty space to catch up on work around the lobby area. The rooms are great, plenty storage space. The toilets however are old but clean and fully functional. The shower is a bit awkward and the water seems to seep out, but room service cleans your room everyday. The parking does come at an additional price which is usually more costly than local parking lots. Overall I would give my stay a 7.5/10. The location is great as well, a 7/11 right around the corner, many rent a cars and very good distance to most attractions.

Great hotel and location, a bit noisy if facing street level

Clean, well located room with great facilities (restaurant, Alfreds coffee, and bars).

Room was street facing and on a lower level, could hear everything on the street level

Clean and modern rooms, helpful staff, safe and quiet

The room had a fun industrial design and was very quiet even on a weekend (I was on the 10th floor with double-pane windows). The desk staff were very helpful and respectful. The gym was clean and sufficient. And traveling alone, I felt very safe with the card-key access to elevators and amenities.

The restaurant had a limited menu and was pricey. It would have been nice to have a microwave in the room--though I found out that you can ask for a water kettle. The pool is in a very public place (right next to the outdoor restaurant) -- probably great for meeting friends, but not great for someone like me who just wanted to swim laps.

Eco-friendly and modern stay in LA

We like the fact that this hotel has re-purposed materials and is eco-friendly and pet friendly. Thanks for not using those small plastic containers of shampoo, etc. Love the design of the room and minimalist look.

We wish you had a jacuzzi or hot tub.

Great location in K-Town, unique design and fun!

Great location, right across from the metro station(if you like to catch trains), but equally great for other tourist destinations. The staff were friendly and super helpful, with restaurant, pool, gym and cafe onsite, plus loads of delicious restaurants and food trucks in the area. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. They run events frequently and I was lucky enough to attended a free sound bath and meditation at the hotel during my stay. ❤️

Fabulous location in K-Town, directly across the street from the Metro. Great Alfred Coffeehouse right in the lobby.

Great location, excellent housekeeping and loved the automatic sheer + blackout blinds. Fabulous view of the Hollywood Hills from the room. The staff was lovely and very helpful.

Parking was too expensive and breakfast should either be included or available at a lower price.

Would book again !

I liked nearly everything about this hotel. It is located in koreatown which I feel like is a very good location to go everywhere without driving too long. The facility is very new and everything is super clean. Staff is very caring and I felt very safe in the hotel as a solo traveller. Would book again for sure

The gym was very small there is like 5 things to do.

Good location near many restaurants.

The automatic blinds started going off by themselves. It was very scary. I didn't know if it was paranormal. Engineer just unplugged it. Also why was the room so dark?

Great quick trip hotel

Loved the interiors in the rooms. The coffee in the lobby is amazing.

Bedrooms a quite small, the valet parking is $60 a day for guests, felt very expensive if you stay 2 nights, you have to factor in an extra $180. Communal areas could do with a bit of TLC.

Good value overall.

We found a grey claylike substance all over the shower curtain and bathroom door. Front desk staff seemed very indifferent when we brought the issue up. We were not informed about breakfast hours or any other amenities or facilities. The vibe was that of an upscale hostel.

Good for a last minute book, will most likely not be back.

The staff was great - they made my trip, as well as the coffee and food!

Good location and good value for K-town.

The breakfast made us both sick. Also, the rooms need better maintenance. The power outlets on the desk literally fell through the tabletop when plugging in my phone. Several other USB outlets were also not working. Room decor best described as prison cell chic.

stylish, comfortable, and convenient, with just a few areas that could use a refresh.

The location was great—super convenient for exploring Koreatown and getting around the city. The overall vibe and design of the hotel were really cool, with a stylish, creative feel that made it stand out from a typical chain. The staff were all friendly and helpful, which made the stay feel easy and welcoming.

The bathroom fixtures were quite old and didn’t look the cleanest (even though they were). The lighting in the bathroom was also really poor, which made getting ready a bit of a challenge. With a few updates, it could easily match the rest of the hotel’s stylish vibe.

We received outstanding service from every member of staff. This included the drop-off team, who thoughtfully carried our luggage without prompting, and the receptionists, who were thorough and clear in explaining all necessary details.
