Best staff, met amazing people, an experience that I didn't expect

Emily gave a fantastic tour to an really nice historic outdoor market and The Grove pedestrian area with beautiful holiday lights. She was so great! The location is amazing, one block from the beach and pier, and in the heart of activity.

Very disappointed that they completely took away breakfast. There is nothing to compare to starting the day with a nice breakfast and the energy of everyone coming together. They could at least offer a self-serve cereal and fruit service. When booking, a place with breakfast is number one. They should cut the budget elsewhere.

Welcoming and helpful staff. One of the best kitchens I’ve ever seen, anywhere! Easy check-in, very clean and comfortable. Easy to socialize with other travelers and couldn’t ask for a better location.

Great hostel! Perfect location, friendly staff and the room and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. Would stay again.

It was a good location and was very close to public transit. I was able to hop on a train to DTLA just by walking a few streets over. It was extremely close to the beach as well.

There seemed to be no air conditioning. The room would be extremely warm at night and I would constantly be sweating. It wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t sleep, but definitely wasn’t what I wanted. There also were no curtains for the beds. Again, not what I wanted, but not so bad that it inconvenienced me.

The room was very comfortable and I got to meet with some locals and fellow travelers. A nice location for a connective experience.

Everything is perfect. Feels like home and safe. The environment is chill and the staff is great.

The location is super good, just 5 mins walk to the Santa Monica Pier and the beaches. Also close to the downtown santa monica subway station, and there's a fancy shopping mall between subway station and the hostel. Really a nice location to enjoy holidays! About the public facilities, I used the shared bathroom and showeroom, they are clean and looks pretty good. There's a large kitchen and enough tables at the common room, also a nice yard where they sometimes play movies at night.

One of my roommates brought a lot of stuff and had some smell. I opened the windows but the ventilation wasn't enough. That's something you would expect for hostels though.

10 out 10! This hostel has everything you need and more. From the excellent location to services to self serviced kitchen to being open 24/7 to WiFi and a hot shower to a very friendly staff. I only wish I spend more time in Santa Monica.

Great location in Santa Monica, close to the ocean. Very affordable for this area. There’s a separate bathroom on the floor in addition to the shared ones.

The room felt quite small and wasn’t very comfortable.

They do not provide free breakfast rn but they still have nice free coffee and snacks

Super friendly staff and a hard to beat location, very close to the beach, restaurants and sightseeings. I'm not much of a hostel kind of person but my stay was a great value for money. They take good care of cleanliness and comfort for their guests.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I didn’t like the fact that they charge you extra money for leaving your luggage after checkout. Most hotels and hostels take care of it for free.

Bed wasn’t super comfortable

Incredible value at an incredible location! Short walking distance from the metro, short distance to the beach! Very clean, comfy bed, good water pressure in showers, comfortable temperature indoors, and activities planned through the hostel. Would definitely stay again!

It's unfortunate that you have to pay to store your bags there if you plan to go out for the day after checking out. Outside of that, though, there wasn't much to dislike.

The location is perfect! The staff helpful!

Great location, walking distance to the pier and the beach. Close to many restaurants and shops. Trader Joe's is 5-10 minutes walk away, so is a train station that takes you directly to Downtown LA. The hostel organises daily activities for travellers. The receptionist was very helpful and check in process went smoothly.

The location and the crew workers

Excellent location, public transport from LAX was so easy and cheap. The hostel is only one block away from Santa Monica beach, not far from Santa Monica Pier and really close to a variety of restaurants, souvenir shops, supermarkets and pubs. The hostel is quite modern, safe, clean and comfortable. I loved the fireplace in the common area.

My bed wasn't the most comfortable, I think the mattress/springs had seen better days. But it was okay for a couple of nights.

Could be slight improvement from privacy perspective in the form of curtains attached to the bunk bed. Apart from that no other suggestions!

Really great place to stay. The rooms were clean really clean and the bed was super confortable. The Staff is very friendly and helpful and all the amenities are ideal for backpacking!

It's amazing to get such great value and be a short walk to the beach and the Pier! I stayed in a 6-bed dorm. There was a bathroom ensuite, so only we 6 had access to the shower, and toilet. The staff is SO nice, they can give great directions and make recommendations for activities, plus the hostel has activities of their own. Such a fun place and I plan to stay there on every trip to LA!

This isn't anything to really do with the hostel, but I feel that the experience of getting to meet people from all over the world, hang out and talk is gone due to cell phones. Whether you're in the courtyard, the dining hall or even your room, it seems like everyone is just obsessed with the phone or laptop. And it's a shame, because many years ago when I traveled the world, I met so many people and formed friendships. I will say that the Santa Monica hostel, with all of their activities does try to get people together with entertainment rather than constant looking at devices.

Good place. Clean, Safe, near the Santa Monica Beach. Quieter than I thought. Price is good. Thanks for letting me store my luggage after check out so that I can go for a travel smoothly. People are friendly here.

The window in the room can't open. The temperature of the room can't change by my self (but can communicate with front desk.

Big clean hostel in a very good location walking distance from Santa Monica pier. 10 min walk to Santa Monica downtown metro stop. Very clean bathrooms and showers. You get towels for free. They also have free beach towels and games. The kitchen is amazing and very big and clean, the best kitchen I have seen in a hostel ever!
