The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai

The property itself is very nice and lives up to the Taj brand in terms of ambience and comfort.

However, the checkout experience was disappointing. I was initially charged ₹6,000 for food that I did not order, and then there was an attempt to overcharge the room by Rupees 5,000. Thankfully, I had my Booking.com confirmation with the exact price, which helped resolve the issue. The staff member involved during checkout was Sapna Kumari. To their credit, the matter was eventually corrected, and a nice bouquet 💐 at the end was a thoughtful gesture. Still, such billing errors at checkout are stressful and not what one expects at a hotel of this standard.

Breakfast at Seaview room was excellent. Palace room has some oldie smell so we asked the staff to clear it up.

I booked the palace rooms under my name through booking.com but the staff (front desk) changed my name to one of my guests name in the invoice without asking me. So I didnot receive the points. When I called the palace they said duty manager will call they never called me back.

It is an experience to stay at this historic and elegance place. Room was very nice and spacious.

Everything is so expensive! Too many people outside and inside of the hotel. People traffic could be better managed. Service was a blend of excellent to just OK, but sometimes visible that service managers bullying staff.

The pinnacle of hotels! Yes, there are many 5 star hotels out there but the cultural aspects carefully intertwined with first class service is second to none. I haven’t experienced a hotel like this ever before! I will be back

This property is historic and directly across for the Gateway of India. We stayed in historical section of the hotel. The staff greeted us upon arrival and were available to answer all of questions. There are several restaurants, shops and a bar within the property along with Spa and pool facilities. We watched a light show in the evenings and breakfast was fabulous. We could walk from this hotel to everywhere we wanted to go. We would recommend this hotel.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Fairytale Birthday Escape – Truly Unforgettable I travelled from Dubai for a three-night escape to celebrate my 58th birthday, and from the very first moment I stepped into the Taj, it felt like a true fairytale. Everything about this property is about attention to detail. From enjoying a simple yet perfect sandwich by the pool, to beautifully crafted cocktails at the Indian restaurant, every experience was thoughtful and refined. Breakfast was a joy each morning with live music creating a calm, elegant atmosphere, complemented by stunning floral displays throughout the hotel. The staff are without question the greatest asset of this property. Warm, genuine, professional, and always attentive, they made me feel truly cared for. There was not a single moment during my stay where I felt disappointed or let down. The highlight was, of course, the effort the team made on the evening of my birthday. The gesture was incredibly touching and something I will remember for a very long time. It showed heart, kindness, and a true understanding of hospitality. And the location… oh my God — simply perfect. If you are looking for an experience rather than just a stay, this is the place. The Taj doesn’t just host you — it creates memories. Highly recommended, and I will most certainly return.

My wife and I recently stayed at the iconic Taj Mahal Palace to celebrate a personal milestone, and while our stay was filled with many memorable and heartwarming moments, there was one aspect that left us unexpectedly disappointed something I sincerely hope the hotel addresses for future guests. Our check-in began beautifully. We were greeted with a warm welcome drink and a Tulsi garland, which immediately set the tone for something special. However, the room we were initially allotted didn’t feel right for the occasion, and we returned to the front desk hoping for some help. Unfortunately, our conversation with the duty manager, Ms. Ritika, was the low point of our entire stay. Instead of empathy or an attempt to understand our concern, we experienced resistance, curt explanations, and a tone that felt unusually dismissive for a hospitality setting especially at a property of this stature. It set off an emotional jolt that lingered far longer than it should have. Thankfully, things took a positive turn the moment we spoke with Mr. Mayank Babla, the Front Office Manager. His very first words were, “I’ll make sure you and your wife feel happy about your stay,” and he truly lived up to that promise. He personally showed us another room one that instantly uplifted our spirits and continued to check on us during our stay, including the next morning and at checkout. His warmth and professionalism restored the magic we associate with the Taj. A heartfelt appreciation as well to the housekeeping team, especially Ajay Donde and Prakash, who were exceptional throughout. We even left a couple of items behind, and Ajay, along with Olga, ensured they were located and sent back to us promptly. Danish at the Sea Lounge and Paaji the security gentleman at the entrance who recommended nearby dining options were also wonderful touches of genuine Taj hospitality. The Heritage walk with Prakash Ji was icing on the cake.

It was an excellent stay. I had a city view room which they upgraded to a sea view room. And it was the best decision. Beautiful sunrise over the sea made even better with the Gateway of India view from the 17th floor of our room. The executive suite had 2 toilets and sinks allowing two of us to have separate facilities making it very convenient. The bathroom felt smaller because of the bathtub, which left no room for hanging or keeping any clothes around. But that was a minor thing. Room amenities included additional items like sunscreen, face moisturiser, lip balm, cologne- things not usually provided in every hotel. We arranged for SUV for airport pick/drop and city tour. Cars were new, very well kept and excellent drivers. Food as expected was excellent too. We were welcomed and treated like royals. The experience worth every penny spent. Definitely recommend to stay here.

The staff were incredible throughout our stay. From booking to checking out they communicated the whole way through. We stayed to celebrate our anniversary and the room was decorated with flowers and balloons and photos were printed off which were requested before arrival making a really personal welcome and celebration along with a personalised cake too.

Worth the splurge!

Our stay at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai was, quite simply, impeccable. From the moment we arrived, the Palace lived up to its considerable reputation. The staff throughout the hotel were consistently exceptional — perfectly trained, unfailingly courteous, and ever attentive without being in the least intrusive. Every request was met with effortless efficiency. Breakfast each morning in the Sea Lounge was an absolute highlight — a splendid combination of buffet and à la carte offerings, all of the highest quality. The selection was truly impressive, catering to every palate with ease and refinement. We particularly appreciated the calm, elegant setting overlooking the Arabian Sea, while the live musician performing outside added an understated charm to the mornings. We would, however, recommend arriving before 9 a.m. to avoid the later rush. A small but thoughtful gesture exemplified the essence of Taj hospitality: upon mentioning to the breakfast manager that I had a mild stomach ache, he immediately arranged for fresh coconut water — a simple act of kindness delivered with genuine concern. Additionally, I appreciated the manager of the Shamiana restaurant going out of his way to package a couple of servings of rasmalai for us. We also greatly enjoyed the hotel’s guided tour, which was a delightful blend of joviality, history, and insight. It offered a deeper appreciation of the Palace’s remarkable heritage and the many stories woven into its walls. We happened to stay during Diwali, and the festive atmosphere only enhanced the ambience. The hotel was beautifully adorned, yet the sense of calm and refinement remained perfectly intact. The concierge, too, was flawless — there seemed to be no request they could not manage.

The only point of grievance was a poorly supervised child in the room above us, who used the bedroom as his personal playground, disrupting our rest at various hours of the day and night.

This is one I’d the best hotel in the world. Taj, again, exceed expectations, when the expectations are already high. The food is amazing in the breakfast buffet, and in the other restaurants. The staff is amazing and there to help with anything, I’ll mention Subhash, one of the drivers when I took a day trip, was super respectful, understood my vibe and gave from his knowledge about the city. Dhruv, but especially Mayank the duty manager that managed to accommodate to a special request and make this stay even better. The whole Taj Club team was also above and beyond.
