Location was good

The photos were misleading; the room was very old and worn out. The mattress was old and lumpy and all the noises outside the room were audible.

Even before our arrival, the staff was incredibly kind and helpful, I had to call the hotel for some information, and they assisted me right away with everything I needed. The same friendliness continued at check-in: everything went smoothly and with great vibes.
We had two rooms, one facing the inner courtyard and one facing the street, and both were really lovely. The beds were very comfortable, everything worked perfectly, and the rooms were spotlessly clean.
Although we didn’t book breakfast at the hotel, the staff gave us great recommendations for dinner and breakfast spots nearby and every tip was excellent.

The location couldn’t be better, and the entire experience was just perfect from start to finish.

Next door from S3 train that takes you everywhere in the city with easy access to the airport too.

Fabulous little hotel. Opposite a metro station on the U Bahn and S Bahn so very easy to get around the city - 15 minutes from hotel door to the water's edge. And the local area has tonnes of good restaurants and bars. Despite the location, it's really quiet, the windows are amazing. Comfy beds too. Oh, and if you tell them you don't want your room cleaning, you can take a beer from the mini bar for every day that's skipped!

No A/C, which could be a problem in the summer.

Room 9 smelt strongly of frying (immediately above the donor kebab shop below) and the bed was completely inadequate for two as it sagged towards the middle. So much so that we took the mattress off to see if one or two of the slats had broken (they hadn’t). We spoke to the staff about it in the morning and they were really helpful, acknowledged the problem and moved us into a much better room. However it is a shame that they are putting couples in this room when they know the bed is inadequate for a couple. They should get a replacement one.

The location is perfect, in the heart of lively Sternschanze, plenty of cafés and restaurants, 2min from the S-Bahn/U-Bahn Station. Very elegant, cozy style. Our was very clean, spacious, quiet (window on the backyard). Dog-friendly. Staff very friendly and always ready to assist. Highly recommended!

The squeaky doors and the bed could be better mantained.

Great location, area is awesome with restaurants, cafes, shopping close by. Friendly chap at front desk welcomed me and let me borrow a phone charger. Room was clean, comfortable and had good natural light.

Humid weather and no air conditioning so had to sleep with windows open, con of location was being in a transient area so it was quite loud late at night and there was construction directly outside in the early morning so it made for somewhat of an unpleasant sleep.

We liked the ease of check in, size of the room was very decent, the hotel has an art deco vibe which is really cool and near to amazing cafes and bars w/o the bustling from St pauli.

In of of the corridors there was a cigarette smell, but apart from that all was good.

Great location and the staff was very friendly. The space was not the best but it was clean and the rooms were big.

It's not the most beautiful hotel in Hamburg but it accomplishes its function. Unfortunately, there is staff present only between 8 to 5. If you arrive late or loose your keys, that could be a problem. However, there is a number you could call.

The Hotel is in a great location if you like your transport to be on your doorstep. It's in a hip area and will be great if you like to be right in the thick of it as there are various shops, supermarkets and restaurants just outside and around the corner. The room was not high tech but kind of cosy and had everything you would need for a stay, with the added benefit of a fridge with drinks, a kettle, and a coffee machine with tea and coffee provided. The staff, including the room attendants, were super friendly and that made me feel quite secure, especially as a solo traveller at that point.

I guess it really depends on your expectations. I was lucky to have a room out the back facing an inner courtyard, with less road noise, but as it was quite warm and humid during my stay, it meant that there wasn't much air circulation in the room and I guess, even having a fan in the room would've been great. A socket for mobile phones, maybe some USB connectors would be a nice, but I guess an overhaul of air-conditioning as well as heating would make a stay certainly more comfortable.

Location

The Wifi did not work in the room. When I called to report it, I was told that I would get a call back when the problem was resolved. No one called back. I called again and asked to be moved to another room with functioning Wifi. I was told that I would get a call back, but did not.
I needed Wifi for work.
The complete lack of courtesy or concern on the part of staff was deplorable.

The room also does not have any electric outlets close to the bed.

Fritz in Pyjama shows how boutique hotels can be accessible. It's a low budget stay with some extra perks. The focus in detail, from the naming of the rooms, until the toiletries they use, all is very thought through. Very friendly staff who goes above and beyond, and I appreciated a kettle in the room.

The hotel can get stuffy in summer. The check-in is very late, and there's almost no space at the reception in case you'd like to leave your luggage, so bear this in mind. The check-in as at 4pm, and the reception closes at 5pm, which pretty much doesn't leave you much choice, and your flexibility is limited.
The vicinity of S-Bahn line makes it a little noisier, but they provide you with ear plugs, which definitely helps.

The personnel can not be contacted after 17 o'clock by any means. This is a remarkable limitation in my opinion. Especially when there is a real need, like in my case when they forgot to send me the codes to get into the hotel. Yeah I was left out and had to book another hotel.
