Hotel Locanda Vivaldi, Venice

Everything. Our view was right on the canal and it gave us a very different impression of Venice. The energy of the city really becomes a parent in the morning, looking out our windows on the canal.

We had no complaints and no disappointments

It’s in a great location. The staff was friendly

our room was very dark and both windows looked at a wall. It was warm and the AC didn’t work. Left a window open and got attacked by mosquitoes. Just realized they over charged us by several hundred Euros

The view from the hotel was beautiful.

When we arrived at the hotel, they directed us to a different room instead of the high-priced room we paid for. When we objected, they gave us the correct room. There's no need for these kinds of petty and meaningless tricks. Even though the problem was solved, it was upsetting.

Our room was incredible! We could listen to the sound of the water. Decor was beautiful too. And the staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

Although the hotel is a little dated, we loved it. Very "Pirates of the Caribbean" inside. The staff was very accommodating and even gave us an amazing canal view since it was off season. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. We would definitely stay here again.

The bathroom is a little small but the shower was more than decent once we figured out the different settings.

Everything about our stay was fabulous. Loved our huge room with fantastic views. Electronic shutters ensured it was quiet and dark at night. We had feared that the hotel might be a little dated however it was very clean and modern with lovely facilities. Really enjoyed the added touches like scented toilet paper and the weather forecast provided along with chocolates in the turn down service. Staff were super helpful and friendly. Location was ideal. Definitely intend to return.

Bed sheets could have been thicker - however this might be unfair as we did not ask for another blanket, I’m sure the hotel would have provided if we had asked.

The location is excellent for our needs being a short walk into the main sights in one direction and a lovely peaceful area of Venice in the other. Also close to main Vaporetti stops. The breakfast was as described and there was plenty of choice and variety. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spotlessly cleaned every day and ours had a beautiful view. The shutters kept out a lot of noise and kept the room shady when needed. The staff were very helpful if needed, but not obtrusive. Reception are happy to organise a taxi or water transport if needed, and to book a meal at any of their hotels for residents . The rooftop restaurant views are amazing and we had lovely meal with family up there with excellent friendly service. We enjoyed our stay very much.

This is not at all a complaint but it might be helpful at breakfast to have the options written either on a card in the bedrooms or on the breakfast tables. The options were read out to us one at a time and we were invited to choose as they were read out without knowing the full range of options first. There also seemed to be confusion occasionally (with other guests) as to whether breakfast was included or not and some options included cooked breakfast. However the breakfast staff were very helpful, and tried to solve any needs that arose. It could be also helpful to know whether coffee or beverages are available during the day for residents. These are in no way complaints and we enjoyed our time in Venice very much.

Absolutely brilliant location to discover Venice over looking the Grand Canal! Staff were really helpful arranging water taxi's to pick us up and drop us back to the the train station

Really can’t think of anything negative to say about our stay. Every thing was very accommodating and wished we could have stayed a little longer. if we should ever go back this way we will stay at the Locanda.

The staff is wonderful, there was a misunderstanding about the room, they were very accomodative and tried to resolve it as soon as possible. The location is perfect, is 5 minutes by walk to the Piazza San Marco, the front rooms have direct view to the canal and there the Zaccaria boat terminal is right in front.

The photos in booking might not be totally what you will get. However, when we showed the pictures to the concierge from booking he tried to find us a room as we had seen in the pictures. Also, the breakfast, although we heard is very complete, we thought it was quite expensive.

Amazing location within minute from St Marks Square. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Views over the basin were beautiful from the room and the rooftop. Breakfast was expensive at €35 per person per day so didn’t sample it. Room was big and very comfortable, I would imagine in the busier months it might get noisy as it’s right on the front. Overall a wonderful stay!

The welcome, the location, and the view from our hotel window. Stunning. Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and cooked to order. The staff were all pleasant and friendly.

Whilst the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooftop bar seemed a bit cold and uninviting. Perhaps it's better in the warmer lighter months!

The breakfast was good very attentive staff . Balcony room with views over the lake was gorgeous.

Only 1 english channel on tv. Had a child with me so he would have liked to watch some english channels.No beer at the bar!

The staff are all super friendly and willing to help. The hotel even provide free transportation to Murano.

The breakfast was too boring. Not many choices. But also can be understood coz the chef needs to work as a chef and waitor, he was too busy. He cooked very nice.

Central location facing the lagoon in the old city (c. 10 min. walk along the waterfront to San Marco Square) with easy access to water taxis, ferries and gondolas; efficient, knowledgeable and friendly front desk personnel; room adequately sized for two people, with great view of the lagoon through a large window; roof-top dining room unattractive, but food and drink were good and our server was outstanding. Multi-choice breakfast was free, plentiful and delicious.

Room didn't have air conditioning so we had to open window for fresh air. But open window allowed in considerable noise because it was on second floor directly above promenade; we also were bothered by mosquitos at night because there was no screen to keep them out. Wall plugs were few and difficult to find; no U.S. phone or computer charging capability without a 110 v. adapter, which we had to borrow from the hotel. Lighting in the room, particularly over the bed, was poor and made reading difficult after dark.

The location couldn't have been better and the room including the view was exceptional. Breakfast exceeded expectations and the breakfast staff were fantastic as well.

The hotel is very well centrally located, the rooms are small but you can't complain as its an old island and that's what people should expect. What they could improve in my humble opinion are the breakfast room and food options. The staff is good, the receptionists were gentle and helpful. The location is the best part of this hotel. I wish the beds could have been comfier, the bathrooms were quite good, neat and clean. I did not have many hotel options either, as I booked it at the almost eleventh hour.

Beds were small and less comfy, and dark rooms, with very dim lights in the rooms. They split our two rooms far from each other which was a little bit of a hassle.

Location was perfect so close to both public and private water taxi options. The view from the room was fantastic and the proximity to St Marks square was difficult to beat.

The roof top restaurant for such a great location was not capitalised sufficiently upon by the hotel. Whilst the sister hotel was slightly more expensive then it felt better value for money in the restaurant. At the Vivaldi the roof top restaurant had very small tables and the ambience felt more cafe like rather than restaurant. Compared to the rest of the hotel the roof top restaurant felt somewhat short if the mark.

The Locanda Vivaldi is a wonderful and friendly family-run hotel, in one of the most beautiful locations anywhere.

They don't provide an iron in the room.and charge you 8 to 9 euro to iron 1 shirt. Never had this kind of exercise before.

The room we were given was different, to the worst, from the one published in the site. We got the right room only after much complining. Do pay attention to what is in the room description and images. The room was specious and beutiful, but ,in total disporportion the shower was small, not to say tiny, and exteremly uncomftrable. It was published as "Jacuzzi"... well I am not sure who to blame: the hotel? "Booking" ?

The reception replaced the first quite small room (named "triple-bed room") with one more worth its name as of the second night, after we discussed my booking details with the receptionist.

Excellent location within walking distance of San Marco. Vaporreto stop San Zaccaria is right outside the front door. We hired private Venezia Taxi for our arrival and return to Marco Polo Airport [VCE] - the cost is 130 euro each way and well worth it. The private side door arrival was very special as you exit the boar onto a gorgeous patio. Another option from/to the airport is Alilaguna boat 15 euros per person each way. We used the vaporreto (public transportation) a couple of times, for short rides - do keep in mind that you'll be on the boat with lots of people and need to have a mask. Locanda Vivaldi has very traditional Italian decor and service. Breakfast is $35pp and delicious, our rate included it. The hotel is within walking distance of good restaurants, though stay away from tourist traps --of which there are many-- by asking a local (not concierge). Trattoria Rivetta close by is hands down the best meal we had in Venice. There is also a restaurant on the water right outside the hotel front door with great light appetizers. The front lagoon view from our room was breathtaking, again well worth the additional cost. I must take a moment to praise a staff member whose name I didn't catch... he assisted us with luggage, served breakfast and ran up and down the stairs all day long to take care of guests. He represents the best of the hotel.

All staff were wonderful and very helpful with exception to one of the concierge who checked us in and out. He recommended an awful restaurant for dinner on our first night even though we told him that we are used to eating well because my husband is an executive chef with over 35 years of experience. We canceled his recommendations after that and did not ask for any more. I suppose he wasn't happy about it.

Fantastic location, delicious breakfast, and friendly staff. Water Taxi & Bus station is very close to the front door of the hotel. Great view of the lagoon and plenty of restraints close by.

Air Condition was poor room temperature during the night made it difficult to get a good nights sleep. The restaurant wasn't open and bar seemed to have restricted hours.

For Breakfast you didnt know what you can get. There wasn't a menu to chose from just a lady telling you the options

Location was perfect for us.

There was no real bar area as such where we could get a tea or coffee when we got in at night if it was after 10pm. Rooms weren’t very big but sufficient. The shower was too small, I am only a size 12 and struggled in the shower, my husband who is quite a bit larger was barely able to get in the shower!!
