Generator Hostel, Venice

The hostel is in a great location, out of the hustle and bustle but just a short water taxi ride from the centre of Venice. The staff were super helpful and the rooms were clean.

The bathroom facilities near my dorm were quite small - just one sink so felt a bit rushed getting ready at busy times.

There was no option to pay a little bit more and to get breakfast. The option was to bay like any other costumer. Not so clean. The stuff wasn’t so pleasant. If arrived befor check in time You need to pay for luggage storage and they don’t even try to help with early check in

the hostel was such a cozy place with lots of young people, there is the bar and restaurant that are open 24h, and the food and drinks are pretty good!

The hostel, was pretty central, in a good location, close to the train, bus Terminal, as well to most attractions

The Air conditioner was not very strong, inside the room neither in the whole hostel, It was very hot passed 100⁰F, and still felt humid inside the room, kind of hard to sleep! 🥱😦🤔

Nice hostel with friendly staff and on-site restaurant. Not far by ferry from the Ducal Palace & square.

Third floor was under some repair.

Giudecca is great for avoiding crowds and getting amazing views of venezia. The lobby and bar are well kept and the staff are friendly.

The rooms are cramped and tiny, the shower didn't drain and couldn't seem to be fixed, and the beds (particularly top bunks) could use some better cleaning. However, most of these problems are present in a lot of buildings in Venice. Bottom line Venice is not a super budget/hostel friendly town.

Generator is a good, reliable franchise and I stay at their different locations often. This one is in line with what you'd expect. Modern, functional accommodation that offers plenty of opportunities to meet other people and socialize. Awesome staff. Key card access. Reliable wi-fi. Comfortable beds. Had a nice time and will come back.

In the last few years, bathroom facilities have been getting steadily more and more worn out. Still, not a dealbreaker.

I would have loved if the beds had curtains for privacy.

Cool vibe, modern decoration, nice bar and comfortable bunk.

Dirty bathroom, staff was not helpfull, checkout is at ten(too early), no curtains in bunk beds.

Personal is super friendly and helpfull. The place has a nice ambience. The bed is comfort, room is clean, internet works, one have power and locker to the bed.

Bathroom was a bit too dirty, the fact it does not have a window is bad, there was mold in the shower and sink was always fool. I guess this is a problem of not so educated guests. Location is a bit annoying because it is in another island, and one has to pay A LOT for the water transportation. It is an expensive city anyway.

The hostel was very welcoming and the staff were so friendly. The main common room is very modern and the rooms were comfortable and clean. Great location for seeing the centre of Venice.

The luggage storage is not free and is individual lockers. I had to pay for 2 for all my things. There is no kitchen or fridge. Both of these things can end up making your stay quite expensive. No privacy curtains on beds. The bathrooms are mainly clean but showers could do with a deep clean.

The hostel was great, it had a lot of space in the main foyer with bar, tv, food and many seating areas (indoors and outdoors). The beds were actually comfortable although the rooms were quite cramped. It was clean and had big enough storage under the bed for big travel bags (not sure about suitcases though). You also need your own lock but can purchase at reception if needed. The staff were quite good, depends on the person. In general nice, with a few who came across rude.

It wasn’t in the main part of Venice so a little time to get to train station via the ferry (need to use ferry to get to hostel - not walkable). The rooms were quite cramped as in the bunk beds were very close together. Also if you struggle with mobility you may want to ask for a lower bunk as the top bunks were a little high even for myself. Also the room constantly has in air con, which is great when warm but it was cold so it got very chilly in the room.

The location was great, you can reach to San Marco in just 10-15 minutes with a waterbus. The room was okay, the bed was comfy and the Venice view from my bed was just perfect. After a lot of comments I read here, I was worried about the cleaning of bathrooms but I noticed the staff is careful about cleaning, and that problem is solved. The atmosphere in the reception area was also nice to hang out.

It is strange that the shower has a transparent door and while one person is taking a shower no one can use the toilet and the sink. Also adding curtains to beds can be useful for privacy since the beds are close.

The place is beautiful and the share rooms, restaurant and bar are really good. It’s really easy to find it and there are lots of “cheap” restaurants close to it. The space for luggage is ok for a personal backpack and a carry on luggage of 12kg.

There are too much breeds in each room. Actually, that’s not bad because the air conditioning is good. However, it’s better to include at least one shower and toilet per room, because there are just a few per floor. I would prefer to receive towel siding my stay.

The hostel is comfortable, clean and staff members were exceptionally warm and helpful. Highly recommend!

Everything was great

Didn't know that it's a chain of hostels all over Europe in most of the major cities, hence it's well-maintained. The bed was comfortable and the place was clean. Generally, such hostels that are at full capacity tend to be a bit messy, however full points to their cleaning staff for keeping the place in excellent condition. Their lounge is also quite big with multiple sofa sets and a couple of dining tables to sit & eat/relax. They put up a big screen during a football match, so even the locals hop in to grab a beer/drink. It's right in the middle of 2 Vaporetto stops so connectivity with the mainland is also good.

A few of the soap dispensers & shower doors were broken but that's an easy fix. It gets a bit loud in the late hours as mostly it's students who generally come for a night or 2 to crash and it's usually late in the night. Also, the lighting in the room was quite dim.

The location felt perfect, situated opposite the main part of Venice. It was really quiet, beautiful, and just steps away from the water taxi. Staff was very nice and so was the bar.

The bathrooms could use some rethinking. There aren't enough given the number of guests, they are too small and lack privacy.

The staff were fantastic very helpful and always there to help , the place was spotless and very clean,the bar area was great, big screen for the football,

The bed and room were spacious and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The location is not very central but Venice is easily reached by boat bus.

The showers had mould growing in the walls. Considering the request to not bring food from the outside, the hostel should offer more accessible options, such as vegan and gluten-free.
