Trunk Hotel, Tokyo

Comfiest bed we’ve stayed in in Japan and there was plenty room for our luggage in the room.

The room wifi was poor at times - probably the worst we’ve had in Japan. Some of the design choices in the room seem to prioritise aesthetics over utility. There’s generally very limited facilities for a hotel of this price.

Lovely boutique hotel in a good location.

Rooms are very very small so you could not even open up 2 suitcases or have 2 people in the bathroom at the same time. The bed was also not very comfortable. Considering it is a very expensive hotel, I wouldn't stay there again for the price. We stayed in another much better hotel in the same area for similar price the week prior.

rooms are tragically small and dorm room sized. It barely fit a bed and I felt like I was in a closet. It was claustrophobic and expensive.

It was super good location for me. (Right next to Cat Street & Omotesando for shopping / eating) Pretty quiet area even it's located very close to Shibuya.

The bed size is small for 2 adults. The hotel said it's a standard size, but nowadays more and more hotels provide a fairy good size of bed even in Standard room.

Hip hotel with state-of-the-art interior design. Great position between Shibuya and Harajuku is a quiet street near cool Cat Street. Stylish common areas and bar.

Only note: no body lotion in the amenities.

Bar/lounge area felt a little off putting on entering the hotel - crazy busy & just felt a little weird like you were crashing someone’s party! Would be better having entry lobby & bar area a bit more separated.

- modern and sleek room, very functional bathroom with great shower (water pressure) and amenities provided - comfortable bed - convenient location

- room was quite small (but this is quite standard in tokyo) - room didn’t feel warm and inviting, even though there were a lot of “design” items. e.g. the armchair is slightly impractical and too large for the small room.

Loved the plants in the terrace boxes. Should be done far more often as it really softens the building and is a contrast to the endless paving and concrete of Tokyo. Foyer was very inviting with its moody tone and use of recycled wood and steel. Staff very helpful and friendly. Being offered a welcome coffee was a great touch. Liked very much Trunk's emphasis on reflecting its locality. Minibar items were very healthy.

Great atmosphere. Very central location on a quiet street in Shibuya. Friendly staffs. Yummy cocktails.

LOTs of weddings on the weekend and the public spaces gets busy.

Location was amazing, walking to Shibuya and Harajuku both. Room was a tad small but comfortable.

Only thing we didnt get was an early check in. We reached the hotel at 7am but got the room at 3PM

A quiet and lovely neighborhood of Shibuya surrounds the hotel at the end of cat street. It is a beautifully designed building with small but comfortable rooms. I was very pleased with the staff's helpfulness and politeness. We will definitely return.

Great location, very cool, food in restaurant is amazing.

The room was tiny, so was the bathroom, a bit overpriced for what it is.

This property has a very cool vibe both in terms of the rooms, and the facilities including the restaurant cafe and bar. The staff were incredibly helpful before, and during our stay. They assisted us with dinner reservations and recommendations in the weeks leading up to our stay and luggage shipment to our next destination so we did not have to drag our suitcases on the bullet train. I typically skip breakfast but the breakfast was so beautiful I had to give it a try. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the restaurant or sent up to your room. Staff were eager to please and happy to assist with anything asked of them. The area near the hotel is lively but the hotel itself is on a quieter street. The rooms were small but very stylish. the shower was lovely. We would highly highly recommend the Trunk Hotel to anyone planning on visiting Tokyo.

Liked everything. Really enjoyed the freidnly staff. The lively bar downstairs. The small, unique and functional rooms. The location was great, walk straight onto Catt St. Easy walk to the train station to go on bigger adventures.

Breakfast was good.

Very crowded! The hotel common spaces were impossible to be in. At any time there were 2-3 weddings going on. The atmosphere is very cool but also attracts too many locals using it as a coffee shop for a comfortable stay. As a hotel guest I found myself unable to enjoy the property, restaurants, bar etc. We ate a meal standing up in the corner of the lobby. The room was well appointed but also very small, particularly if the rest of the hotel is not at your disposal due. If you’re young and looking to stay in the chaos, this is probably for you. If you’re looking for a comfortable, semi luxurious experience…stay elsewhere. With only 15 rooms it’s clear that being a hotel just isn’t a priority for the coffee shop/wedding venue/convention center/ art gallery.

Location is great to explore Omotesando area. Plenty of cool retail shops, cafes, restaurants and malls around. Retail store with their own merchandise (miniature sake bottles, reed diffusers, umbrellas etc), coffee was not too bad! Trunk bar serves pretty kickass cocktails! Front desk and bell staff all very friendly and helpful.

Proximity from Shibuya train station (a bit of a trek!) The hotel lobby can get really crowded during the weekends (multiple weddings). Hotel lobby is open to public (for drinks, cocktails, Wi-Fi, meet-ups) - really busy throughout the day. Entry level rooms are quite small - opt for bigger room if you are travelling with a lot luggage!

Location and food, vibes are top notch.

The HVAC system in the room is hard to understand how to operate. The room was rather cold when we got in so I turned up the temp but it didn’t seem like the usual way to adjust. I stayed in the family suite and I slept in the upper deck of bunker bed. The heater blew the air straight onto my face so my throat was dry like charcoal. So, whlie I was sleeping I filled in the water on the humidifier and kept on sleeping but it didn’t worth the effort. The HVAC system was blowing warm air then cold air repeatedly, I was not able to decide whether to tuck inside the blanket or not. so I got off the bunker bad and put the HVAC controller back to where it used to be when I entered the room but it only changed the severity and kept circling the heat and cold. Finally, I decided to turn off the HVAC and slepted then the room temp was so cold as to feel like sleeping outside, in addtion to this the draft wind was so strong. All in all, I paid extra for comfort but it didn’t worth a dime.

you can’t beat the location. restaurant is great. loved the bar. staff is amazing. amber was so helpful with recommendations and planning our trip.

Everything was perfect! The staff were so warm and went out of their way to help us with everything we needed. The rooms were comfortable and clean (we had the most basic room FYI). The location is excellent, the breakfast was delish, and the bar had such a great vibe in the evening. I would recommend this place to everyone!

at first we thought the room was a bit small, but it was actually perfect, we didn’t need anything more & they’ve thought of everything!

It took me 5 days to check on the room availability, and finally I was able to booked it for 1 night and so looking forward to it. Was looking forward to the vibes...and I was so glad I was not disappointed. The place is just awesome and the level of details for every single thing, just impressed me. I would go back for sure if I am travelling to Japan again.

The only thing, I think I could think of.. not because is bad... is just that it was my personal preference. I preferred a firm pillow when I sleep. The pillow is too soft to my personal liking.

This was my second time staying at TRUNK Hotel and it still has a great creative vibe that other hotels in Tokyo don't have. The staff here is the best, it is beyond the traditional training and professionalism of a luxury hotel but the way they talk and reply to your messages really show the attention to details that I expect. The location is also great since you can walk to Shibuya, Omotesando and Harajuku

What you pay for is the location and the great staff but the room can be a bit kind of small.

Great ambiance and lighting. Very similar to an Ace Hotel, this was very fashionable and had great music and ambiance. Many people were working from their laptops from the hotel lobby and would be a great spot to meet someone for a drink. The restaurant was also very nice and had lots of vegan/vegetarian options. Close to shopping on Cat street and a 5-10 minute walk to Shibuya station.

I thought the value was better at other hotels we stayed at, as the room was pretty small. The attention to detail and decor is unparalleled, though, with custom art on the walls, which was pretty incredible.

Great location within walking distance of Shibuya Station, Meiji Jingu and Omotesando. The staff were phenomenally helpful and really nice, especially Amber, who made and changed reservations for us with enthusiasm! The free breakfast was completely out of this world. It was extremely clean and very well staffed. The shower was the best ever - tons of water pressure and a very convenient hand held spray head option. Even though we are in our sixties and seventies, while the other guests and staff were all much younger, they treated us incredibly well - they were very kind and welcoming.

The room was small for the price. The bed was pushed against the wall on one side, making it inconvenient for that person to get in and out. Not much room for suitcases, no closet, only one chair. I would pay more for the next larger room next time.

Should have been forewarned about all the events that was happening when I stayed the day and could have booked a few to enjoy.

A very trendy and vibey hotel with exceptional staff who were always on hand to help with restaurant bookings, taxis and recommendations. A truly exceptional experience, well done team Trunk!

Food service stopped at 10pm and it wasn’t possible to get a barista coffee until after 9am. Perhaps a nespresso machine in the hotel room would have helped.

The staff are incredible. Attention to detail and a pride about TRUNK that is infectious! They are friendly and professional and a pleasure to deal with

The room is small. Little space for clothes, suitcase etc. Other than that though, an excellent hotel and location.
