Nice hotel, up to Mandarin Oriental standard, although strange restaurant set ups - be prepared to book well in advance and pay absurd amounts for mediocre food.

We stayed about a month after the big earthquake and during our stay experienced many many smaller ones and tremors. This hotel has a major design flaw with massive glass chandeliers above the beds. In our room the dents on the ceiling from where it was hitting with each tremor was terrifying, and with every quake (which were frequent through the night) it started swinging so badly we found ourselves running for cover terrified it was going to fall. Same in all the common areas - such as outside the lifts, where there was simply nowhere to escape these hundreds of pounds of glass and metal - a super super poor design choice for a hotel located in an earthquake zone.

Gorgeous property with state of the art equipment in the rooms. Very well trained staff, from the bellman to the pool attendant, to the breakfast staff to the housekeepers. The Mandarin Oriental Taipei does not disappoint. Great food, amazing beddings, very quiet ambiance.

Breakfast is good but not my favorite meal. I prefer to order from ala ca but the price is not worth compared with buffet. But I liked the coffee and bakery for free in the early morning offered the guest who can’t have a big meal..unlucky it is not my time, I missed it every single day.

Better to offer free coffee and small bites for a whole day in the public space.

Bed and pillow are so soft however the problem were solved very quickly.

I loved this hotel. The beautiful art deco decor, the friendly staff, the luxurious room, the happy hour cocktails. It was just a very pleasant stay and I would absolutely stay again. The warm reception upon check-in has also been a highlight of my trip, particularly in comparison to the Grand Hyatt, where I stayed upon my return to Taipei. The check-in there was sterile and not personal. Mandarin, was the complete opposite. The staff in the lounge were also very accomodating and friendly and I miss their warm welcome every morning and evening. The grandness of my room was unexpected, but was very welcomed. It was absolutely luxurious. Bed very comfortable and the shower 'room' very relaxing.

The wall immediately adjacant to the toilet was filthy. When trying to work out the electronic bidet functions, I noticed some 'dribble' marks on the wall, which I thought were just art of the marbled pattern. However, upon further inspection, I noticed it was feacal matter. I dont know what people do when they go to the toilet, but for something to be on the wall, that is disgusting. I didn't bother bringing it to the attention of the hotel and instead cleaned it myself as I travel with disinfectant spray and wipes for this reason. If they cant clean it properly to start with, then I cant trust they will do it properly when I bring it to their attention. If I clean it myself, at least then I know it will be cleaned to standard I am happy with. I would encourage your cleaning staff to be more attentive of this. I think they will be just as horrified as I was on what was found. Room service was delicious, but very expensive for what it was. There was no information in the room about what to do in an earthquake. I dont come from an area prone to them and I experienced a very minor one on my first night in the hotel. It was't until I googled what to do in an earthquake did I find some useful information. However, its a bit late then. Lucky it wasn't a bad one. Finally, your credit card payment systems (in hotel) do not have an option to put a PIN in. So, whilst the hotel was trying to take my security deposit, my payment would not go through. It wasn't until I called my bank that they advised because it was over a certain amount, I must put a PIN in. This is a security feature enabled by Australian banks due to the global rise in fraud and scams. The PIN provides an extra layer of protection. However, your systems did not provide that option for me. For a brand this global, your payment systems should be able to cater for all cards and brands. It was lucky I was able to get hold of my bank and be able to work out a a work around.

Staff went above and beyond. Concierge helped us track down (and called many stores) to help up find where to buy specific brands of makeup and shoes. Turn down service will VERY nicely organize your clothes, makeup, etc. Service at breakfast service was very good ... probably the highest staff to guest ratio I have seen at a buffet.

The room was big, clean and super well thought out. The bed and linen were 10/10. The hotel was a beautiful place to stay and I really enjoyed my stay at my first time at MO.

I wish there was more to do near the hotel as the area wasn’t as lively as some other locations, but it was close to the MRT and easy to get to and from.

While our experience wasn't necessarily a bad stay, several things happened that truly surprised us for a hotel of this caliber and price point, especially having just come from the Ritz Carlton in Singapore where the difference in service was dramatic. Firstly, we appreciate the hotel was fully booked during a busy time at the holidays but our experiences with almost every single staff member at the Mandarin Oriental felt rushed and brusque, to the point where even 15 second calls to the front desk would be cut short and interrupted by staff mid-sentence. We did not have soap or conditioner refilled in our room for two days, which we only discovered after we were already wet in the shower. We had to emphasize to the front desk that we were celebrating a special birthday, when in contrast other hotels noticed immediately upon checking in our passports and had given us some really wonderful comped breakfasts. The staff did not know what "utensils" were when we called and asked for them. And they forgot to give us a luggage tag while holding our luggage during check out which resulted in some issues retrieving our luggage later. While we have stayed at many 5 star hotels, and we were excited for our first time at a Mandarin Oriental, we were very disappointed especially again given the price point and the superior service we have experienced at their competitors. We are not likely to revisit the brand again. There is no doubt the facilities are beautiful but for our money we would rather have gone elsewhere.

I love all the details in my room, in the lobby, even the design of the restaurants. The food was superb too, everyday I'm always looking forward to have a delicious breakfast in a stylish place. I love the building and the fabulous design of the lobby... I would come back here again.

Oh I didnt get to experience the swimming pool because its under renovation at that moment... Hotel location is a bit away from the center, I have to take a taxi anywhere I want to go, but its fine.

The cozy lobby and spacious bathroom in the room. I loved the fragrance everywhere in the hotel and in the room.

The room layout could be better. It was hard for me to be near the window to look outside. Furniture was in the way. Another problem is that it's far away from the nearest MRT station. I took a taxi all the time to get around the city to save time.

WI-FI connection required additional pay or joining membership, this is a put off. Another major put off is the bathroom amenities…, the body wash was not re-filled during my stay. Looks like the housekeeping team did not check when making up for the room

Swimming pool was shut and I was expecting to spend time swimming in the hotel when I booked.

The bad was amazing, best I have ever stayed. One of the best hotels in the world, really!

Room was very comfortable n good amenities.

I arrived at 8:30pm at the hotel. Lounge had cheese Doritos only ( which they said was cheese) and room service finished at 8pm. Operator / front desk suggested I order Uber Eats!

The room was nice despite being a relatively older hotel in Taipei One staff in gym/ pool was really helpful

Two out of the 7 staffers that I had contact with have made me felt unwelcome as a guest. Making a reservation via booking make you ineligible for the 7 hours extension of stay that the hotel provides to guests book via their own system.

Very meticulous cleaning, attention to detail. Baby amenities including a bathing tub and stool were provided.

Staff is very friendly and helpful (if you arrive in a taxi or with a driver...) . Room is spacious and nicely furnished. Breakfast is awesome.

Arriving with my own car I was diverted to the parking lot without asking where I was going or if I was staying at the hotel = no one picked up my luggage or offered assistance and going from the underground parking to the reception area is not convenient at all if you have suitcases.
