Hotel Villa Athena, Agrigento

We loved that there was an entrance to the Valley of the Temple right from the hotel. Easy parking too!

We reserved a temple view room which could only be see from the bathroom shower as it was completely blocked by a tree otherwise. And the arrangement of the room did not help with any sort of view. The room was quite small. Dinner options limited - we ended up eating off the premises. At the desk they were way off on the departure time in order to get to Palermo airport on time. Just ok - I expected way more for a 5 star hotel.

Sadly, the music in the bar right next to our room played from 08:00 am until midnight and was clearly audible inside the room. Staff was made aware of the issue and grateful for the feedback, very professional.

This resort is 5 star all the way. It may be a little more expensive than nearby options but it is totally worth it! It is inside the UNESCO Valley of the Temples park, we bought our tickets at the front desk and they opened a special gate to allow us to stroll thru a lovely forest of olive trees and a scented garden to reach the main walking path for the temples. The restaurant is excellent for all 3 meals a day and the staff was terrific...especially Ramona for the meals and Giovanni at the bar! The grounds are extensive and there were several places to sit and relax, read and enjoy the surroundings. The Concordia temple is right in front of you at all times and lit up at night which is spectacular. Without question our best hotel experience in all of Italy...over the 6 trips we have taken there!

It’s a beautiful place, so it was astonishing that the cushions of the outdoor furnishings did not dry up and seem to soak in water. The hotel is too nice for outdoor furniture leaving you with a wet behind….

Beautiful hotel. Our room was small but the terrace more than made up for it. Fantastic views of the Greek temples and they were lit up at night. Dinner was expensive - very fine dining ! We are there one night only then had other dinners in agrigento. The breakfasts were fantastic - lots of choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. The entrance and our room smelt wonderful.

The location was a real highlight as the restaurant looks across to one of the temples and at night lit up it’s a spectacular sight. The hotel was better than expected which is always a good surprise. The gardens, pool and social areas are spacious and pleasant. The restaurant food was good, albeit more expensive than others but the location and view is worth a small extra cost.

What a setting! The Concordia temple was right in front of the resort and only 10 minutes away with its own private entrance. We had lunch and dinner and the food was truly exceptional.

Breakfast food was good but the staff was slow to initiate service and coffee didn’t arrive until we were nearly done with our meal and water came after coffee. The dinner was excellent food was amazing fresh and tasty.

The location was excellent with a back entrance into the Valley of Temples. Sitting in the bar and having dinner with the view was so special.

Everything. Felt like I was in paradise and wish I could have stayed for more than one night. Everyone from the staff to the beautiful room to amenities was on point. Love the free parking and the welcome glass of champagne provided upon arrival.

Everything! A beautiful hotel, set in almond & olive groves, with the most spectacular views of the temples, that you will not tire of. Lovely room, comfy bed and luxury shower room. Large balcony/ terrace over-looking the temples. Service was excellent with friendly and helpful staff, who clearly loved working there. Food was excellent. Lovely pool area. Brilliant direct access to the temples, which meant we were able to have some time there to ourselves.

The view of the Temples from the hotel are spectacular. We also enjoyed the pool service and the meals available at the hotel. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. Once there, we didn't have to leave. There is also the ability to purchase tickets to the Valley of the Temples and access the park directly from the hotel with a short walk/hike. All of these perks made this hotel the best pick ever! We truly relaxed for a few days in the middle of our multi-city Italian vacation soaking in the sun and views both day and night of this lovely location.

Villa Athena is a beautiful resort on the edge of the archaeological park and has amazing views of the Temple. The resort has a restaurant serving Sicilian fine dining. There is a spa and pool. We really enjoyed our stay and our guided tour of the ruins which we arranged via the hotel.

Truly an amazing location, right in from of the Concordia Temple with direct access from the hotel. It is a very secluded hotel with incredible facilities like the pool, the gym…

At 4am on Sundays there is a show where people at the Concordia Temple sing until dawn which woke us up and we couldn’t get back to sleep. The barbecue on Saturday was delicious but we had to leave half of our food as it was way to much.

Well the view is stunning. Every do often you look up, see the temple and it simply takes your breath away every time. Very special. The deluxe room was very highly appointed. Complimentary bottle of wine in the room. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was fabulous. A tiered selection of pastries and cakes brought to your table and breakfast cooked to order. Lovely swimming pool, complimentary ice cream offered occasionally, a very nice touch. Restaurant of Michelin star quality and live piano.

We were not offered a drink on arrival. I was honestly incredibly shocked by this. Surely standard for a hotel of this quality? We were offered this at lower standard hotels during our tour around Sicily. Most of the staff were not friendly. They were efficient and service was generally good but they were not welcoming and no friendly conversation was offered. This was disappointing. The complementary wine in my room was red. I asked reception 3 times to swap it for a white as I don't drink red. It never was replaced. Twice I was served meat in my meals despite ordering vegetarian. Once at lunch in a toastie and once in an omelet. This is poor. The wine at lunch was taken off the bill which was appreciated but the fact that this happened twice is shocking, clearly there is an issue there. Service at dinner was high end but it appeared they were understaffed, it was very difficult to get their attention. Overall the disappointing, less than 5 star service let this wonderful hotel down.

The location is simply perfect with views of the temples from the hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay truly enjoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful pool area. Our spacious, clean room was equipped with everything we needed, and they even left us some delicious treats made by the chef. The food in both restaurants is delicious. I would highly recommend staying at this beautiful hotel.

We were upgraded on arrival to a beautiful room looking directly out over the temples, simply stunning. Our room was really beautiful and spacious, and the staff so helpful. Pool was a great warm temperature, quite a change after experiencing many cool pools in Sicily! Finally the restaurant, Terrace of the Gods - we had 'front row' seats looking directly onto the temples and the food was outstanding!

Loved the location, the room and staff were amazing and the view was absolutely amazing. A lovely chilled nice relaxed hotel.

Breakfast we were hounded by wasps every day, they were such a nuisance for all the guests that they should try some methods to control them.
