Kimpton Buchanan Hotel, San Francisco

The location was perfect for visit. Close to where I needed to go. Food close. parking on site but high cost.

Most wonderful staff by far! Loved the location (Japan Town) so we didn't have to miss home too much. Great restaurants recommended by the hotel staff (Try out Sweet Maple a few blocks down Sutter for breakfast/brunch). All sorts of shops within walking distance with Japan Town Mall literally 1 min from the hotel. The room was very comfortable, clean and with high-end amenities in the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable! Water and ice dispensers were also available at our floor.

I would have loved to have had self-laundry services since we had an extended stay.

I like the staff, who are all very nice and friendly. They always converse with me, making me feel warm and welcome. They are willing to help and support everything they can during my stay. The second thing I like is the location. As you may know, it's very dangerous in San Francisco. Many places are full of homeless, and I feel so scared, but the location of this hotel is very safe and peaceful you can walk on the street at night and park your car safely. Anyway, the hotel provides a very, very safe parking lot for you too. Another thing is the cleanliness of the room. The room is very clean and the housekeeper makes it clean every day. The last thing is the comfortable bed I can sleep well and good rest in the bed.

The only few things to make it better are providing hot water in the room. They provide ice and water on the 3rd floor, which I love it a lot, and also provide coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. But sometimes at night I wish to make some coffee or eat the instant noodle or hot tea then I need some hot water in the room

Spacious room, nice comfortable bed, it had everything we needed for the stay. Friendly and helpful staff on the front desk.

We needed another night because my husband was staying in the hospital longer than expected and the employee at the desk was really helpful. He found us an even better rate than we had found for the first two nights. It was helpful during a rough time. At a later point in our stay he asked how my husband was feeling. It was kind of him to remember.

It was a few steps away from my favorite mall. It was close to our favorite restaurants too.

There’s nothing not to like.

Room was spacious and comfortable....loved the zen decor. Location was quiet and felt safe.

Door to bathroom was very awkward. It opened outward, so you had to walk around it every time. Washcloths were not left the second day, and were not brought after being requested. Coffee in lobby was cold.

The beds were very comfortable. The fridge was empty so we could put our own food in there and not have to deal with them trying to sell us expensive stuff. The location was excellent. The temprature was

The door to the bathroom is huge and basically hung backwards. So if you are in the room the bathroom door opens to the front door instead of opening up to the bedroom. It was like it was always blocking the way.

In Japantown so it was quiet and easy to find. Parking garage which is gated after 10pm, so I knew my car was safe. Comfortable beds, room, and the view of the city was beautiful.

The hotel had a fantastic location, and having a parking facility was incredibly convenient for us. The staff at the reception were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms and beds were spacious and provided great comfort.

There was constantly only one person at the reception, and it felt like the entire hotel was entrusted to that one person. It gave us the impression of staying in an apartment rather than a hotel.

Excellent location, interesting, quiet, easy access to places I wanted to visit. Nice artistic decor. Friendly check in and checkout.

There was no food service at all. I developed a serious head cold during my stay and needed to stay in bed for a day, so I really needed some food service. Also, in an unfamiliar city it’s good to have breakfast before venturing out.

Nice city views, clean and modern vibe, and a small parking garage on site.

The on site garaged filled up and we were referred to parking garage a block away. That lot locked at night so our car was not available till 9 Am (not disclosed). Happily, the Hotel gave us first two nights of parking free.

Prime location right next to food and city activities. Parking was easy.

It was great to see that the staff was very helpful and accommodating with my requests. Very comfy bed and bedding. Enjoyed updated furniture with USB plugs, room lighting options were nice, japanese inspired robes were a comfy touch. Location was good, just across the street from the Japanese malls and stores. Walking distance to Pacific Heights where there were many restaurants and boutiques. Walgreens (pharmacy) was only 2 blocks away. Convenient area.

I was hoping there would be room slippers but maybe the hotel was cutting down on disposable items? I was surprised that the hotel entrance did not have a ramp at its entrance, which made it a bit difficult to bring up/down my suitcases after a long haul flight. If there was a ramp or ADA entrance, it may have been in a different area that I did not see. I imagine this would be a concern for some travelers with accessibility needs.

Loved the location and style of the hotel for our short overnight family trip to Japantown. We like the little hotel courtyard, and my kids enjoyed playing in the evening with the corn hole game offered. Nice sitting areas outside in the courtyard, too. We enjoyed the complimentory morning coffee and evening adult grape juice offered, would of liked an alternative offered for my kids

We would have liked to stay outside in the evening in the courtyard longer but wanted the fireplaces turned on, and when asked, both fireplaces were out of propane on Memorial Day weekend. We grabbed some snacks from the store down the street from the hotel but would have liked some options at the hotel. The vending machine was out of order
