It was great for a big group. We used the rooftop area so much for food and drink

I have only 2 points of feedback. 1. A married mirror in bathroom would be perfect 2. If they could heat the pool for offseason travellers that would be ideal. It was way too cold in July. None of used it

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, room was spacious and very clean and comfortable. The breakfast room was beautiful and the pool had great views of copacabana, Cristo Redentor and the Sugar Loaf mountain. There is also a beach service where you get some deck chairs on Copacabana outside the hotel and they will get your drinks and food and can watch your things while you go for a swim.

Not many sunbeds in the sun but might be the winter sun.

The room was not enough clean. The towels were not clean.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff and great facilities. The hotel has a lovely pool on the roof with a panoramic view of Rio. The balcony from the room has a view of Copacobanna beach.

They definitely have a bit of a moisture problem in the bathroom. I thought that the food was not great, and the room service could have a better menu.

The breakfasts were amazing — great variety and delicious options every day. The location is perfect, just a few steps from the beach. There’s also excellent service available directly on the beach, which made relaxing even easier.

The blanket was too thin — it got a bit chilly at night and wasn’t very comfortable.

We had a wonderful time at PortoBay Rio. They are perfectly located on the Copacabana Bay Promenade. Lovely spacious room and bathroom. Excellent views in the room and then also at the rooftop pool and bar. The breakfast is excellent - they were able to accommodate vegetarians on their special menu (ask the wait staff for the vegan menu). Staff are friendly, especially Alice, at the front desk.

There is room for improvement when it comes to housekeeping - used teacups weren't cleared away after each day.

The hotel is in a great location. Rooms are spacious and with a balcony. Breakfast was superb, lots of variety and very delicious. Staff in the breakfast room had great energy and were amazing.

There are some connected rooms. We got one of those. So we shared a door with another room which was occupied by another couple. Very loud couple. We could hear everything and this made us very uncomfortable and ruined our experience in the hotel. I think the hotel should have a policy not to put 2 couples in these connected rooms. Other than this, everything else was quite amazing.

Location is perfect right in the middle of Copacabana beach - we found the beach clean and full of families easy to rent an umbrella and chairs - although the hotel has free ones with towels, but we didn't find those until the 3rd day, also if you want to swim together they will look after valuables the beds were amazingly comfy - seemed like new mattresses with a deep integral topper it was lovely to have a balcony - to dry out swimming costume the breakfast was literally amazing - everything you could possibly want and the staff very friendly and efficient the reception staff were very friendly and helpful loved the rooftop bar and pool - live music one evening I saw a review that felt the streets behind the hotel didn't feel safe we didn't find that at all

Everything was great! The room with a balcony and a view to the ocean, the pool area, the restaurant (both dinner and breakfast are excellent).

The hot water for the shower was either too hot or too cold no medium not sure if it was just my room. I never got round to raising the issue with the hotel or staff. I just managed it. You can't adjust the heating or air conditioning it is a flat temperature for each room

It is located at Copacabana beach front. The room has a perfect view of the ocean. The hotel offers all support for beach families fun like, sun umbrella, towels, chairs, toys. You can order food and drinks while relaxing in the beach and they bring from the hotel restaurant to you. The roof top has good a pool and amazing bar. It was a perfect stay.

The location was fantastic, as there were many good restaurants nearby and it was right across the street from the beach. The customer service was probably the best we've experienced in Brazil (we have lived here 4 years)! The desk allowed us to keep our bags in a secure location upon arrival and departure, they upgraded our room for free, we were able to check in early, and they made arrangements for us to see a local football game. Everyone was friendly and spoke excellent English! The breakfast was surprisingly good as well! There were many dishes available that I haven't seen in a hotel buffet before, including sparkling wine! We would stay here again in a heartbeat, and we have already recommended it to several friends.

The only negative was that the sauna on the top floor didn't work very well. The knob was a bit loose, so we weren't able to get it very hot.

The staff was helpful, smiley, wonderful! The breakfast was delicious. The view was gourgeous from the room. The roof terrace pool is the best!

The bathroom requires some update.

On the avenida atlantica in front of the ocean. The position is terrific. The staff was very kind. The room was not big but confortable. They have a complimentary access to the beach, but unfortunately it was raining; it will be for the next time in Rio. Breakfast was good but could be improved.

The bacon was a bit burned.

Amazing view and facilities, welcoming staff (big shout-out to everyone we interacted with from reception, pool service, room service, baggage storage: Alice, Italo, Sacha, Paulo just to name a few). Delicious breakfast room service!!! Cleaning of the rooms was sparkling. I'm a carioca living abroad for +10 years and coming back to Rio every year with my husband, we have stayed in so many other hotels in the region (zona sul) but none have beat this hotel in Copacabana. Will be returning next year!

The hotel is in a fantastic location right next to the famous Copacabana Palace and right on the world-famous beachfront. The staff were all superb, spoke multiple languages and were all extremely accommodating for us and our baby daughter. Particularly, we want to say thank you to Wellington and Carlinho from the breakfast restaurant team and also the receptionist team who allocated us a great room on a high floor as we requested and provided a baby cot with good mattress which was so important for our daughter. The hotel has a lovely rooftop pool bar with amazing views over Rio, you can see Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer. The sunbeds are comfortable and the prices of drinks are really good value. The hotel was really clean and the breakfast was excellent with super views from the restaurant over the beach. The hotel has complimentary beach chairs/umbrellas and beach concierge which is a huge bonus. It was also great for us that check out is generously at 12:00 and we could store bags while waiting for a late flight. We stayed a total of 5 nights.

The pool could be bigger but this is the case for most of the hotels on the beachfront!

The rooms facing the lateral road have high humidity. Difficult to breathe during wet season. Worth to upgrade for an executive room, facing the ocean. Not only for a breathtaking view, but also for fresh air.

I really enjoyed my stay at PortoBay. The room was comfortable, super clean, and well-equipped, with high-quality sheets and great toiletries that added to the experience. I looked forward to breakfast every morning—the variety was impressive, everything tasted fresh, and the staff was kind and attentive. What I loved the most was the beach service. I had so much fun there! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, always making sure we had everything we needed. I also appreciated the rooftop views—they were stunning, especially the one quiet evening when there was no party and we could actually relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Most of the staff throughout the hotel were very nice and welcoming, which made a big difference. Despite a few minor issues, I had a great time overall and would definitely come back.

I didn’t love that after a few days, the room got sandy from going to the beach and housekeeping didn’t vacuum it, which made it feel less fresh. I was also quite disappointed with the rooftop bar. Almost every night there was a loud party or event going on, which made it hard to enjoy the space or even get a drink. The atmosphere wasn’t relaxing at all during those times, and the quality of the cocktails dropped significantly. I only got to enjoy the rooftop properly on one quiet night without any events. Another downside was the Wi-Fi—it wasn’t strong enough for remote work, which was frustrating since my boyfriend had to leave the hotel to work from a café. Lastly, there were a couple of moments at the front desk where I felt the staff spoke to us in an unnecessarily rude tone. It didn’t ruin the trip, but it definitely stood out in an otherwise good experience.

We had a wonderful stay at PortoBay. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, and the location was amazing. There were plenty of food options to choose from.

Fantastic location for the beaches, restaurants & excursions. Breakfast buffet was very tasty with a variety of choices, all fresh fruit & freshly baked pastries & cakes etc. The gym was fine for 1 week too to stay in a fitness routine. Special mention to Iris who greeted us with a smile every morning before sitting us down to breakfast, she was excellent & also great in the rooftop bar / restaurant with us. A top professional who made our stay even better, staff like that don’t come around often!

It was unfortunate that we were originally given a room that had a very clear damp problem due to a water leak. However there was no issue when we requested a room change.

Great location on the copacabana beach, central to all restaurants and local shops and could watch the world go by from the balcony. Food at breakfast and evening meal was excellent with plenty of choice. Staff were very attentive especially Sascha on reception who helped us with everything we wanted to do regarding tours and arranging a local guide. We hope to return in the future as this hotel was a gem of a find.
