Simple Clean Hotel

The hotel has a very central location with most downtown location being in walking distance for me. Self-Check-In/Out worked flawlessly, staff was excellent and luggage storage was also available. Breakfast was basic but one can not complain.

Room was quite musty which was not to a point that it bothered you all the time but every time you came into the room it was very noticable.

Quirky and Comfy

Location was great. LOVED the white noise machine in the room. Very cute decor. Loved the layout of the room. Bed and pillows very comfy. Again, incredible location. Easy to walk so many places and it also felt safe and clean. Would absolutely stay here again!

Wish they would have serviced the room after 2-3 nights. We stayed 4 nights and they never serviced the room. Couldn’t find on their site nor booking.com when that was supposed to happen, if at all. Random: QR codes to restaurants didn’t work.

Pleasant

I loved the aesthetic. Music playing when I arrived in room and in lobby. Refrigerator. Super fresh sheets and towels. Ear plugs that work. Excellent coffee right downstairs! Multicharging station on bedside table.

No easily accessible safe parking. Claw foot tub, would have preferred a modern shower.

Very good

Convenient and quiet location. Digital room key. A good water kettle and a fridge.

Vintage vibe with creaking floors. The bed is sagging. Pillows are uncomfortable, Two chairs are beat up. No microwave in rooms. The one in the kitchen is only accessible at breakfast time. Only coffee/tea and fruits are consistent at breakfast. Blinds and lighting need updating.

Great price and location

Easy to access, great location, comfortable, and clean

The a/c didn’t keep the room cool, but the windows open so letting in a breeze worked just fine

Hip stay

Clean, easy entry instructions, nice little place

There was no caffeinated coffee in the room for the morning. I didn’t know till the last morning there is a pantry on the 2nd floor you can grab a free cup of selve serve coffee. Now you know, so you won’t run across the same. Wish that information was provided at check in or a note in the room coffee bar.

Still an amazing boutique hotel

The style of this place was amazing. It felt like a New York apartment and had a super cozy bed. The building was secure at night and the 24/7 contact with the front desk was a nice touch.

Unfortunately, the location has lost its sparkle due to the rise in homelessness around the area. The free breakfast wasn't really that great (but it was free).

Stay was exactly what was needed as a place to shower and rest when not exploring the city.

The hotel was a really good value. Comfortable bed. Good hot water. Contactless check-in and out was very convenient. But there is front desk staff at most hours which is nice as I did not expect it. They were also very nice.

There are definitely homeless people and substance users in the area. Sometimes you can hear the noises on the streets at night. I've heard someone yelling threats which woke me up. Pantry is open till 10 am but get in before 9 am or everything is gone. Also we didn't have the option to open the windows in our room.

A comfortable, clean, and centrally located stay

The hotel is excellently located in downtown, near all major transport and walking distance to many major tourist sites. The hotel was also very clean and a generally very comfortable space. If I were to return to Portland, I would stay here again.

I stayed in the hotel for about 8/9 nights. For about 3/4 of those days there was no internet at the hotel. Since there is no concierge I at first had trouble establishing if it was my computer or the hotel that had the problem, and the online concierge was generally unclear and suggesting that the problem was my device. Only later did I learn that it was a hotel issue, however I had been travelling for work and this made my stay more complicated than I had hoped.

What the what

It was ok

No parking is a terrible hotel experience but we were aware. Entry was very impersonal and creepy with the dial pad hidden behind a plant. Lobby was dark and unfriendly day and night. Front desk was hidden in the shadows and workers could have been more engaged. Weird-ass design elements very carefully mixed badly throughout the room. Wet room style shower and toilet with entrance by door but sink outside the bathroom at other end of room. Unsanitary and uncomfortable 90 degree party sofa with squishy Ottoman and no coffee table (seating for 10???) Desk spaces for 5. Mix of industrial and woodsy and worn-out-night-club. It all seemed clean but hardly made sense. We had an emergency at home and had to check out early and the clerk said ok, took our room number, and didn't process it. Weird

Well located, easy to navigate contact free check-in, spacious rooms, slight budget feel but high style value

Nice room with openable window and good bedding, nice common area design

Room smelled damp, common area felt a bit worn (carpet on stairs), aircon was on full power when we arrived (energy waste)

I'd stay here again, without a doubt!

The staff is amazing! Everyone in every position is extremely professional, helpful, inviting and friendly. I came in with two little humana under 5 and everyone was super friendly and patient.

One of the glass cups in our room was dirty (with lipstick stains) but displayed as clean and ready to use to drink water.

“In transition”

Good size room, location excellent, plenty of breakfast options nearby, reasonable water pressure and a large comfy bed.

They state that they are ‘in transition’. So, no shower gel in the bathroom, no tea kettle in the room (although there are mugs and tea), no cleaning or towel change during our three-night stay. Other aspects were disappointing, and maybe also a consequence of the transition. Certainly, breakfast was not up to standard - coffee from a dispenser and pastries wrapped in plastic but good in an emergency. Notably, the internal bathroom was divided from the main room by wooden partitions which do not give any true privacy - if you’re sharing the room you’ll know each other a lot better after this stay.d

Very good

Great location! You can see Powell's Books from the room. Comfy room for my daughter and me! Great view! Nice to be able to hop downstairs to Stumptown Roasters in the morning.

I was very disappointed in the breakfast. Two out of my three mornings, there was hardly anything left to eat (only a few Fruit Loops). I got there with at least an hour left in the breakfast service each time too. The one morning with food left, there were yummy overnight oats, but no toppings left nor utensils. Also, keep in mind you will want to park in a garage in the area and that will add $20-25 dollars/night to your budget.

Fabulous

Clean, supercool interiors, there's security at night.

They ask you for a 100 dollars deposit. Breakfast is included but it's very "light". Perhaps my room was a bit too dark.

A comfortable, affordable stay in a central location and with a distinctly "Portland" feel.

I wanted a centrally located hotel at reasonable rates with an appealing environment as a bonus. As an architect I appreciated the attention to detail in the hotel. I found the slight quirkiness to be endearing. Slight flavor of a "youth hostel" but with an upscale spin. We enjoyed our stay. We had made an error in our booking and they were very accommodating to fix that. Great stay.

Loved the vibes, amenities & how welcoming the front desk was when we checked in!

Loved how easy it was to check in the evening, how the lobby was closed after sundown and you needed to be let in, which happened almost immediately after ringing the bell. It was a great stay, really enjoyed the amenities that were given to us and how well stocked our room was with towels.

The breakfast included was interesting. The overnight oats were delicious, however, aside from that, there wasn’t much breakfast options other than the occasional orange. I wish they had more options other than the overnight oats. The coffee was okay, but it’s what to be expected as hotel coffee. They had two milk alternatives (almond & oat) which I liked having and plenty of sugar alternatives as well. Overall, the breakfast included was slightly disappointing.

Close to shopping, restaurants and convenience.

Quite noisy as far as floor above, noise from outside. The streets in the area are also very dirty. Sidewalks are dirty and smell of urine even close to the hotel main entrance. Lots of transients in the area. Not the hotel’s fault but a problem within the city. Unfortunate because the location is good and the staff excellent.

Cool hotel brand but this one needs some more work

Bed was a lovely size and comfy. Central location but a-lot if the trendier area’s have moved out from Down Town Portland, but still a good base on your first visit.

The breakfast needs to be reviewed. For a trendy hotel a few sweet pastries, banana or apple and tea/coffee was not good. There was no yogurt, granola or porridge on the 2 days I was visiting. You would expect some bread and a toaster as minimum. Small rooms with a sink in the room corner, instead of in the bathroom. The staff could have more enthusiasm, but maybe part of Portland laid back vibes!

Ace hotel in downtown Portland has the typical ACE look and vibe, great staff and breakfast.

ACE HOTEL is kind of a cool and funky hotel, not really for the average business traveler. Locations is downtown Portland, there was parking in lots closeby, not from the hotel, but almost no hotel has that downtown. The rooms was a bit smaller than expected, the hotel is old, but renovated in the way all Ace hotels are, old fixtures etc, it is a particular style. The shower was superstrong and hot and nice quality of brand amenities. Bed was comfy. The teenage boys were in a room with a shared bathroom in the hallway, that was a bit messy and very wet (looked like someone took a bath in the shower). Breakfast is a choice of some pastries9vegan possibilities) and good Stumptown coffee and fruit.

Overall it was good- you get the ACE experience.

I had a very nice stay thanks to the great staff and the location!

I really liked the location, the small breakfast and the great staff at the reception who was always helpful and kind. My room was located in a quiet part of the hotel, at the top floor, which I highly appreciated.

The bed was very comfortable but the room could be a bit more comfortable (e.g. adding a comfortable chair).

Cool place, great location, no hot water.

The hotel and our room both were absolutely charming and slick. We had a corner room and the natural light and views were unbeatable. Location-wise we couldn't have asked for a better home base for our Portland adventure.

It was pretty much impossible to get hot water. I know it's an old building, but I barely got luke-warm water which made showering a necessary evil to be dispensed with as quickly as possible.
