Kimpton Hotel Monaco, Philadelphia

The room was very comfortable, perfect location walking distance to attractions and restaurants. The bar at the hotel was very cute. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

The rooms were bright and interesting. The lobby was eclectic and welcoming and so were the staff. Including a very professional, happy and welcoming chambermaids Joseph and Thelma!

This is the most beautifully appointed hotel in Philadelphia. I love that the furniture in the room is high quality and looks like furniture you would put in a bedroom. The art and decor is designer influenced. The beds are comfortable and so is the seating in the lobby. Even the lobby coffee is good. You are in the heart of history and can get to the best restaurants and attractions easily. Ive stayed at Sofitel, the Warrick and several other lesser hotels. This is by far my favorite. The reason I don't stay here all the time is because of the price. I happened to get a good deal but that is rare.

The staff could be more professional and friendly but I think that's a problem everywhere today.

Spacious, clean room. Cordial staff. Very convenient to appointment we had scheduled. In a lovely area of Philadelphia, near the Liberty Bell, and historic buildings. Really perfect.

I like the old school decoration. It felt like a step back in time. The complementary breakfast was so yummy. The staff there was super friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect.

The hotel charges $8.00 for a bottle of water in the room. Even low end hotels put a bottle of water free in a room. No coffee machine. Whats that about!!!

I booked a parkview room and that is exactly what I got, so that was good. The room was roomy and comfy. Lighting (in the room) was good and bed was great, very comfy along with the pillow choices. Robes were very nice too. Bathroom had a makeup mirror. I was attending a wedding and have been to Phila many times. However as a tourist this is a great location Independence Plaza and Hall plus the Liberty Bell are just step from the front door. You're right in the middle of the historic area of the city. I enjoyed my weekend stay.

My biggest problem was the bathroom lighting was terrible, I had to keep running to the window to apply my makeup with my hand help makeup mirror so while they had a makeup mirror in the bathroom, the lighting made if very difficult to use. I would have liked a coffee machine in the room although they will bring you one if you need it, Bring water. They only have this very expensive designer water.

The property was excellent. Very clean and quiet.

Valet parking was extremely expensive - 72 USD for one night.

The property was clean and very close to everything.

The room did not have the proper blankets. We had three flat sheets. Two were used as a makeshift duvet cover and one was used a a fitted sheet. Needless to say it didn’t keep us warm and water bottles are $8 throughout the hotel. The cost of parking was insane. Some of the front desk staff weren’t very pleasant.

- Very strong mold smell in the bathroom area. There was water damage on the bathroom door next to the shower. There was no shower door, just a partial screen. The water from the shower got on the floor and bathroom door, so everything was wet all the time. Hence the smell - The room needed deep cleaning and maintenance. Lots of scoff marks on the walls, water damage in the bathroom, some areas were not very clean

Great location to be a tourist in the Old Town with everything at your doorstep, literally across the road to Independence Hall.

Not a lot, the front entrance on the weekend was a mad house which could do with better organisation but reception staff were great and their wine tasting from 4-6 pm a nice surprise.

Comfortable room, good facilities

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms had a classic elegance and charm that gave the place a timeless feel. Everything was exceptionally clean, and it’s clear the staff takes pride in maintaining the space. The staff was also incredibly helpful, friendly, and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The breakfast in the morning was spot on with a great variety of fresh options and a perfect start to the day. Highly recommend if you're looking for comfort with a touch of old-world class.

If I had to point out one downside, it would be the mattresses. They were a bit stiff and left me with a sore back in the morning. That said, it wouldn’t stop me from staying here again, given how great everything else was.

Room, and location.

The photos in hotel description show a rooftop was offered as a lovely place to relax and enjoy the view, but it was only open three days a week and, during our stay, operated as a ticket-only event. Breakfast was provided as a daily allowance, which wasn’t mentioned at the time of booking—I had expected a complimentary breakfast.

The Kimpton Hotel experience is uniformly very good, and the Kimpton Hotel Monaco was no exception. The staff in particular made this experience exceptional as our room was ready and they allowed us to check in early. The location of the hotel and view of Independence Hall from the room itself all made for a great experience.

It would be ideal not to have to pay additional for water in the room. It is, however, available in the lobby.

The room was amazingly designed. The Bed was comfortable. The bathtub was fantastic 👏🏽! My favorite part of the room. The room service was good as well as the food. My views were gorgeous.

The TV was acting a little wonky and hard to use. The toilet was running a lot too.

Some of the fittings in the room were a bit tired (broken edges on the bathroom mirror, broken corners on the desk etc). The roof terrace was more like a night club - we couldn’t get on to it.

Hotel didn't receive payment through Booking.com. Staff didn't do the slightest effort to check what went wrong, instead they charged me again and told me to solve it out with Booking.com. I would have appreciated at least some effort, as I have provided payment evidence.

Absolutely nothing

The room was comfortable but a little dated. The mattresses were firm and comfortable. Housekeeping did a good job of cleaning our room. The location of the hotel was excellent for visiting the historical sites in Philadelphia. We really enjoyed The Red Fox Tavern (restaurant associated with the hotel). We had breakfast at the hotel every morning along with several dinners. Good menu and very hospitable service. I would definitely stay here again if visiting Philadelphia.

Breakfast "included" was a bit cheeky - if I knew there was a $20 limit pp, I would have reconsidered. Wine hour: cheap wine in a plastic cup, seated on sticky furniture!

Would have liked to see more hooks or towel bars, since we opted for no service while there it was hard to dry our towels.

Location was fabulous, close to all historic landmarks walking distance from coffee shops, restaurants. Room was clean and decent size.

The first room we got didn't have hot water, and took a while to move us to a different room that did have water, but shower head was wonky. Since we were in a rush to leave for a dinner reservation we chose to stay and not move to a third room. Smell in hallway was not very fresh, but room smelled fine and was clean.

I liked everything

Loved the corner room location! The wallpaper and general room decor were beautiful. Room was spacious. The bed was very comfortable. It was great that you allowed dogs at the hotel. Very helpful for us.

The most glaring issue, noticed by myself and my husband, was that there were 3 doormen standing around talking most every time we entered or exited the building. Not once did any of them open a door for us, even when we were entering with packages or suitcases. It was comical. The other complaint was that the bathroom floor was sticky when we arrived, causing noises when I took a step. I mentioned that to the entrance desk and they got someone there right away, but the problem was not resolved, it was just the same after the cleaning. I was also surprised given the quality of the hotel, how thin the TP was...And also, I am all for conservation, and very much appreciate your efforts in that matter, but the water flow restrictors on the sink faucets were too much. It came out a trickle.
