Boscolo Exedra Hotel, Nice

We have read the 8.0 rating and was surprised as we are used to a decent Boscolo experience. After complaining about our first room, we got a new room with a bottle of Prosecco. Its a nice touch, but one would expect this to work on the first try at this level. Overall the 8.0 is a realistic rating.

The hotel is a bit outdated, first we got rooms outside (!) of the hotel in a gangway, with windows pointing to the gangway. Definitely nowhere near 5* experience. After complaining we got a room in the hotel, which is large and fine. Unfortunately the shower was broken, the minibar was not cooling, the king bed was 2 mattresses and overall some of the nearby 4* hotels look better at a lower price range.

We loved : - the main decoration of the lobby and building, looks like an art gallery, all hotel in white color (withe walls, ground white marble, white fourniture) and stylish architecture is very relaxing - guys in the reception are very helpful and gives helpful advices - we got our room at 11h of the morning prior to official check-in time, which was very appreciated - large buffet breakfast is nice and available until 12h that is very helpful if you wanna wake up late. The best thing here is that bread and pastries (croissant) is cooked just in time, hot and tasty. - location, very close (400 m) to Massena walking street and promenade, just in front of metro station that bring you directly from the airport (very easy and practical) - shower with glass window is centrally located in the room, in front of bed and mirror (along with privacy curtains), which i really appreciated, that brings some fantasy for couples. - the bathroom and WC corner is well designed - rooftop outdoor swimming pool, a fancy place to stay in summer time - underground indoor swimming pool is also available

We mostly loved our staying, here are some points to improve - the sport fitness room is not as well designed as other parts in the hotel, too many old machines in a quite small room, not enough space, no windows ... better put in upper floors with larges views on city - free water bootle was not renewed in the room (we thought it will be daily renewed), i do not know if this was ablivion or hotel policy

Excellent location, right in the heart of Nice and close to all the restaurants. The hotel staff is excellent, and it is without a doubt the nicest place I have ever worked. We had never been treated so wonderfully; champagne and a loving card were waiting for us when we got to room one (this was a special trip for me and my fiancé). What a wonderful experience working with Boscolo! Congrats to the entire staff.

I just had one complaint, and that was regarding the sauna. Wasn't working for repairs, however this is a little concern compared to the wonderful experience. Everything else was flawless, and they pay close attention to every little detail. I highly endorse your visit.

Beautiful building and gorgeous room.

Nothing about the property was a problem but we were told that no food was being served at the pool. We had planned our last day around eating there before leaving. Girl at pool bar was very dismissive when questioned but staff at reception were excellent and I think sorted out the situation. staff at the pool did not, however, inform us that food was then available.

Great hotel overall. Superb rooftop restaurant and pool. Managment of the breakfast is very much improved compared to past years.

Room was noisy (street noise) with poor sound insulation.

I've stayed at the Boscolo before - it's a nice hotel, rather expensive for what it is to be fair, but the location is superb. The beds are comfy, the rooms are clean and housekeeping are great. Breakfast is alright but nothing special and certainly not what it looks like on the pictures on Booking.com but you don't go hungry.

Personally I feel that this is a 4 star property that relies on its location for the 5th star. Reception are next to useless - we had a kettle in our room and it took over an hour, three phone calls and a trip to Reception to get a tea bag. I know this is a first world problem, but not one you expect when you pay nearly £1,000 per night for a room. The hotel advertises gluten free options but these are limited to gluten free bread at breakfast and eggs / bacon. The Italian restaurant downstairs advertises gluten free but options are severely limited. Getting into and out of the pool is difficult if you are less mobile as the only access is by some creaky metallic steps that ricochet and creak when any amount of weight is placed on a step, making you wonder if you will actually make it out of the pool without the steps collapsing (this was something of a joke with people sitting around the poolside), but in terms of Health and Safety is a rather worrying concern. If you cannot walk up and down the narrow steps, as some people were unable to do through mobility issues then you are unable to use the pool

The hotel was absolutely stunning. The decor was beautiful and the attention to deal was spot on!

Restaurant over priced for average food but waiting staff excellent Pool didn’t open on time for our morning swim for which the reception team gave us a discount at checkout. A nice touch but would have preferred to have had our planned swim of course.

The room is huge, we liked it a lot. Plus a great location and an amazing staff. And there was a Bidet in the bathroom 👍🏼

The breakfast was not great. Not much choice for continental, additional items had to be paid for which was not good considering this was a 5 star hotel with breakfast included.

I loved the hotel’s convenient access from the city center, and the very friendly staffs!

It would be great if you could clean the room more neatly (as I found some pieces of broken glasses within the room..), given the guests usually prefer to stay in the luxurious hotel for its cleanliness.

Large, clean light rooms with good beds and perfect linen, roof bar with a pool and good views

Despite of nice design, expensive materials and many small things included, services are not always operating as expected. Even cheaper hotels around usually have faster resolution times and less issues. Restaurants are frequently closed and its not easy to get a meal withing some hours

Weren’t told all the info at check in so we missed out on Beach access on the first day. Even with the hotel discount it still costs over 70€ per person per day for that!! Hotel room was missing things I usually see in other 5 star hotels - had to ask for toothpaste. They didn’t have hair dryers anywhere either and no hair straighteners (but the later I can somewhat understand).

The look

The manager and the attempt to extort nearly £100 more to stay the extra night when it was listed at 5 different sites cheaper. The manager was extremely rude and certainly had no understanding. Terrible value for money

Very friendly and helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble.

The bathroom was a little strange, basically in the bedroom with little privacy.

It’s a nice hotel

The property is in a great location for shopping, the beach and a short walk to the old town. The staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome, especially Younes who was looking after the valet. We didn’t have breakfast but it was nice to see it open later than most places.

Some parts of the room/corridors/hotel are a bit dated and in need of a refurb. The pool area also only has two sunbeds with the rest of the area covered in tablecloth dining tables which was a bit strange. I would suggest they put more sunbeds up there.

Cool hotel in a pretty good location. Room’s weren’t bad. Good little gym downstairs and the indoor pool was nice.

It’s very expensive and I’d expect more for the price. Be warned that if there is any rain they simply close upstairs and it takes days to reopen. This is really disappointing given it’s a major draw of the hotel and they don’t make this clear at booking.
