Hotel Maison Saint Louis, Marseille

Fantastic location in the middle of everything you could want. Pubs, cafes, restaurants, shops, markets right on the doorstep. Lovely room with a beautiful French view. Easy check in and great staff.

Great, friendly and helpful staff. Nice location, near the harbour and tram/bus/metro, also plenty of restaurants with nice food around the hotel. Clean and neat, well-lit, practical room. There was an electric kettle and free tea in the room. Comfortable beds. Cosy to sit at the table under the roof. We liked it here.

Little space in the lobby and the corridors. Steep small stairs lead to the attic where this room is located. Best to book this if you're traveling only with hand luggage or just a backpack. We had heavy suitcases and it was rather hard to drag them upstairs. There is an elevator up to 5th floor, but the attic rooms are on 6th. Also, the shower is almost under the rafters so tall people you'll wash your hair while kneeling :D One rafter is near the toilet so try to keep your head safe from bumping into it.

Nice staff and Reception open 24/7. Close to Vieux Port.

Staircase and hallways sometimes pitch black as motion lights were very slow to come on.

Location is EXCELLENT. Staff are extremeky helpful.

The hotel is in a beautiful french building style, very well located, staffs were great as well! We can go anywhere by foot.

I had one of the rooms in the attic and it was quite recently refurbished and thus very nice looking. It is important to note though that the ceiling is sloping in most of the room, you duck into bed and the bathtub. Since this was on six stairs up (they got chocked when I said I would walk all the stairs and not take the lift) you won't hear the street at all.

It could be a good idea to bring a small flashlight as the sensors for the automatic lights frequently didn't detect me until I'd taken a step or two onto the stair (not a problem but forget running up or down the stairs) - or take the lift at all times.

Location and comfortable bed

My room was spacious and I liked the little balcony to sit on.

Slightly noisy late at night on the square. Even though the bathroom was renovated my shower had a mind of its own I think The nozzle needs replacing. As I only stayed one night it was fine but had I of stayed longer I would have mentioned the shower thing directly as it could be easily fixed I’m sure.

When we arrived a staff member gave our room as per initial booking to other guests, but the lady at reception gave us two adjacent rooms in stead, which was very nice. The location of the hotel was very good for our purposes, within walking distance of the station and the places we want to be. Staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our luggage the day of departure and fetch is later which was a positive bonus - thank you!

Breakfast was a bit expensive for what you received to eat, but nothing wrong with the quality of the food.

The stairs were really steep so getting our cases up was difficult

The location was superb and the staff were very friendly and kind! Hotel has air conditioning and an elevator, which is a huge plus!

The hotel didn't provide any soaps, shampoos, body washes or any toiletries. Make sure to bring all those misc. items with you.

The location and the size of the room and bathroom. The friendly and helpfull staff.

As the only programs in English on the TV were News shows, it would have been nice to have a radio in the room for some music. Only 2 tea satchets for our whole stay.

The area of Marseille feels a little rough at night and tourists need to be at least alert to this.

Perfect location near the Vieux Port, close to shopping, restaurants etc. the rooms are a bit spartan, but they are spacious, clean and quiet.

The interior, especially the stairwell and hallways need an update. But, after all, you don’t sleep in the hall.

A great place to stay. Not far from the old port and right in the heart of things. Tram close by metro close. Easy walking to most things. Lots of local eateries and bars close . More touristy ones just a short walk away. Clean roomy under the eaves as I was.

The sensor light in the little hallway was annoying at nite.

Staff in the bistro had no sense of urgency so be prepared to wait!

Staff was very supportive, extremely accomodating and very nice.

The location of the hotel was central, however very dangerous at night to get to, especially for 2 young girls. It was quite intimidating to walk around marseille.

The hotel is very nice, but the room itself was a bit weird. Was on the 6th floor, but hotel only had a 5 floor elevator. The remaining steps were on a very steep, narrow staircase - which would be awkward with luggage. The room itself was a redone attic with a slopping ceiling which I kept bumping my head onto. The AC worked, but was inadequate. Parking was available at a nearby facility, but you had to first go to the hotel, prepay, then go back to the parking lot (10 minute walk)

The location is superb, 2 minutes walk from the Vieux Port, close to shopping, restaurants and an easy walk to Le Panier and MUCEM. The cafe downstairs is a wonderful spot to start the day, the coffee and croissants are excellent and the orange juice fresh squeezed.

The stairway and halls need an update to be sure. But don't be too put off, the rooms are bright, clean and reasonably spacious if a little spartan.

The headroom in the bathroom for the room I got. This is probably only an issue for 2 rooms in the attic. I'm sure the rest are fine.

Had to go up steep stairs to the sixth floor, lift finished at the fifth.

We were greeted by amazing staff and the view from the room looked out over the Cours Saint Louis Plaza. The bathroom was small but good and clean. The bed was comfortable and I had an amazing sleep. There was a little table in the room and a kettle for making tea. The balcony was small but it was just about big enough to stand on. Location was phenomenal. You are just on the edge of Noailles and a couple of minutes walk from the old port. Breakfast was very good value for money.

No safe in the room but there is one at reception. Was a little noisy at night - aircon helped hide the noise.

Bed was comfortable and hotel was located a short walk to the tram line as well as the busy Vieux Port. Staff were very helpful at all times.

Pictures of the hotel online can be very deceiving. Very basic property.

The location was good. The welcome was good and the staff were exceptional with always a friendly smile.

The paintwork could do with a replenishment in places and the wardrobe door could do with being replaced. It was broken and the slats in it had obviously nor been dusted in ages. The provided tea bags were not replaced after use.
