Expert reviews

CN Traveler review:

“This restored family estate is more than a step up for the Mallorcan hotel scene. It’s also a remarkable showcase of heirlooms and antiques from around the world, which – unusually for a new opening – already has the feel of a classic.”

The Times review:

In one word: tasteful. Son Net is a luxurious, generously refined retreat for the smart set who want to be pampered inside and out — and for those looking for a long weekend getaway rather than a seven-night wellness boot camp.”

Telegraph review:

“Luxurious five-star Grand Hotel Son Net, a graceful 17th-century manor house, sits on a hillock above Puigpunyent village. Serenity and privacy are assured along with superlative personal service, gastronomic dining and excellent facilities. With a vast pool and dedicated spa, it offers complete relaxation.”

All you need to know

If you’re dreaming of a peaceful retreat in Mallorca, the Grand Hotel Son Net is pretty much the definition of “hidden gem.” Nestled at the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains (which are even a UNESCO World Heritage site), it feels like you’re escaping into another world, 20 minutes from Palma, but far enough to be totally tranquil.

The place is actually a beautifully restored 17th-century Mallorcan manor, complete with a spring-fed well, a private chapel, and a classic interior courtyard that just oozes old-world charm.

Inside, the design is all about warm elegance: rustic ceiling beams, stone floors, antique fireplaces. Each room or suite is unique, thanks to a painstaking restoration by Lorenzo Castillo.

The food’s a treat too: the hotel’s restaurants lean on local, “km 0” ingredients straight from their own gardens and orchards, and there’s even a little vineyard on the property that produces Malvasía wine.

For relaxing, the spa is a real haven. It’s over 1,000 m², with a sea-salt heated pool, a thermal circuit, Turkish bath, sauna, and treatment rooms with views across the valley
