HI Hostel Santa Monica, Los Angeles

Amazing location, very short walk to the beach/pier. Appreciate the events that were hosted by the hostel - although the bar crawl went to 3 very quiet/boring pubs it was an awesome way to meet other solo travellers. Security at the front desk was also good, felt very safe. They provide beach and bath towels free of charge.

The beds are SO SQUEAKY, meaning you really are awake as soon as the first person in your dorm wakes up. Was here for 4th July and very surprised the hostel didn’t organise any events on that day/night. Luggage storage on the day of checkout is $5 which is a bit cheeky of them.

I liked the location and the set up of the hostel it is very nice and clean for the surrounding area

There wasn’t anything in particular that is not likeable about the property I very much liked the hostel and the property but I was uncomfortable about the type of people in the hostel for instance in my room was a very weird women who was asked to leave the hostel and right after her another one came in that worried me a little and made me uncomfortable

This hostel is a great place to stay. I don’t want to write a very good review because I don’t want a lot of people to experience this great hotel :) It was clean, staff is nice, people are nice, activities are nice, comedy club in a historic building (Rapp’s Saloon) was good. I like Santa Monica also and this hostel is in yhe heart of the downtown Santa Monica. It was my 3rd time in LA and I tried public transportation. It was all good. You can get a TAP card and take E line to downtown LA, then ho anywhere from there. It’s that easy. You can go to Venice by walk or by bike,too. Buses are also available for Venice and Abbott Kinney/Marina Del Rey area. Bus No 3 directly goes to this hotel from LAX City Bus Center. Breakfast is enough. Facilities were good. I love every minute of my stay.

It has a great location just two blocks from the beach and close to many restaurants. The hostel itself is on a creek with a great seating area.

The kitchen was too small for more than one person to use it at a time. The rooms were warm due to lack of AC/ventilation. There was no where to hang wet towels.

Friendly, welcoming staff. Loved that they had so many social events on. There was a library and lots of workspaces/hangout spaces. Breakfast was a classic hostel breakfast!

Quite expensive for a hostel (although a very good deal for the area so there’s nothing they can really do). Area is very mixed. Some lovely bits, some very rundown (like the rest of LA)

It was everything clean and comfortable, the staff are nice and kind. I loved the place and the breakfast.

The staff was helpful and friendly, they had a 24-7 front desk. I asked for an xtra blanket and they were happy to help. They closed the doors at 10, so you could only get in with a key card, which made the place safer. They didn't allow alcohol or drugs, which also put me more at ease. They had a huge kitchen as well as freezer and fridge where you could label and store your food. There was no curfew, so I could also eat during the night.

The only minor things that I was missing, is that there are no curtains on the bunk beds, but luckily all my roommates were respecting privacy.

Friendly atmosphere

Had a little dis with a staff member who introduced herself as Noellanes. She was not friendly and did not explain the point. Also when she talk to me she was seating with her arms crossed at her chest. Sorry, but it is not nice!

Friendly staff. Great location. Spotlessly clean. Complementary breakfast good. Would definitely stay again.

Breakfast was basic. Rooms need chairs and tables. It's uncomfortable to put things on floor when there was a roach in my room. Please wipe down door handles and tables in community areas. Those were gross.

No tables in room. Creaky bed. Freezing room. Roach in my bathroom! 🤔

Very organized and clean

Fantastic location. Comfortable and quiet. Staff were wonderful from responsiveness pre arrival to helpful and obliging helping us through to an evening flight on check out day.

Very hard to fault at all

Location cannot be beat. The facilities were clean. Breakfast included, was a nice touch (bagel, cereal, bananas, juice, coffee).

My bad mattress was half of the thickness of all the others on my room. On top, they added a plastic shield underneath it to try to make it less painful but it makes A LOT of noise. Terrible, especially when you’ve paid the same as everyone else.

Good location, neat hostel

I've been to other hostels before but this one is for sure in my top 3 . Super comfortable , big size room and bathroom, the fireplace room was beautiful and confortable after a walking day, also the garden inside the hostel. The breakfest is simple but super ok. It was a very good surprise.

For me it was super good. Nothing bad to say.
