Loved it all.

My check-in experience was lovely, I was treated by a woman who gave us the history and what to expect at the hotel. The rest of the room was very clean along with the kitchen. Overall the stay was lovely, I LOVED the aesthetic not only in the room but in the main area for sitting. So many wonderful places to curl up with a book. I did enjoy it and found the service overall very pleasant and accommodating. I would stay there again if my office weren't such a far walk from it. Having the kitchen was a massive bonus for longer stays and for how much VRBO's are running there, it is an amazing and I am guessing cheaper alternative!

I know it is old and restored but the "aged" odor was initially difficult to adjust. The windows are original and not upgraded so anything by the streets you will hear the cars and people, however, that area is more of the sleepy apartment side so it wasn't bad during sleeping hours. The bathrooms are nice, mine was a bit dirty or stained I didn't attempt to find out, which I found disappointing. I did place the breakfast room service card outside my door at 7 pm the evening before (it states by midnight) selecting the time option of 8-8:30 am by 8:35 am I called to find out the status (I would have just called and ordered when I woke up) and it seemed it had been forgotten. I finally had my toast/egg and coffee by around 9:00 am. Also, be aware there is no liquor license so prepare to order any wine through DoorDash or pick it up directly as they do not have it.

History! Beautiful Lobby. The manager personally makes the guests feel welcome and taken care of. The room service is affordable and very good.

It would be great if they could get a liquor license so we could enjoy a cocktail in that lobby.

Unique and charming

Staff were all super eager to help and very nice. I like that it’s old and has character but if you prefer an upscale hotel with amenities this is not the place for you. My room had a full size kitchen which was nice and it was spotless clean.

It’s very loud. I could hear my neighbors zipping their suitcase through the wall. I sleep with earplugs every night so it’s fine but if you are a light sleeper you will hear things.

I loved everything!

Palihouse has an amazing climate, great shared area with a fireplace and breathtaking gardens. The staff was always very helpful and friendly! Very close to the ocean and Santa Monica Pier, making it a pleasure to walk there.

No serious issues or even minor ones. I only wish it provided food in the evening as well as any alcohol. Being able to enjoy an evening while sipping your favorite poison by the fireplace would make this trip unforgettable.

The hotel has lots of character, and is a relaxing place to stay. It is well situated, within two or three blocks of the sea and the same distance from the main shopping drag in Santa Monica. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the room offered a pleasant view out to palm trees.

The hotel has no bar, which is a shame for those of us who like a nightcap. The wifi is low-security. The rooms could benefit from a microwave.

The hotel is amazing! The room are very cosy and quite retro but very clean and nice. The hotel was very quiet.

The room are quite old and the window let some air in but that wasn't a problem.

Exceptional staff and the manager was so welcoming.

From the beginning the stuff was great and very welcoming. They celebrated with us our special moment and did everything to make it as memoroble as possible. The hotel itself has very unique, unusual and retro design and you can see that the owner put a lot of though into the place. The location is also great and very close to the beach broadwalk. Definitely great choise for the vacation.

it's stylish and quirky and exactly what we wanted. Location was great also. It just feels different from large hotels and I loved the history. We loved having lunch in the gardens.

The staff were lovely. I'd slept the night before in my car so I was in need of a little care and a nice bed.

Beautiful building and decoration, on a perfect location to explore Santa Monica. Bed was very comfortable and room very clean. It felt like staying on a nice house from the early 1900’s. Got upgraded to a suit which was a nice touch by the staff

Not great value for money, paid approx USD 1400 for 3 nights on a king bedroom. For that money they could offer complimentary filter water, instead only 13 dollars water bottle was available. Valet Parking at usd 55++

no coffee making facilities. charged for coffee when served downstairs and brought up to room. charge for bottled water in the room, $13 would be nice to have the option of a jug of tap water on the bed room daily.

Exceptional property! Location is amazing. Quiet in the sophisticated end of town. Staff are fabulous- rooms dreamy- lobby fabulous. Perfect stay!

the patio is magical

I absolutely loves this hotel - it has an incredible charm and people are very nice. The garden is enchanting and the location is one of the best in LA. Been there multiple times and will come back!

The overall feeling. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Love the decor and quirkiness of the decor. The building is gorgeous. Great location. It was far more than I normally spend when I travel, but worth every penny.

The hotel is stunning, the staff are magnificent, the location is perfect.

I enjoyed the salmon choice for breakfast. The gardens and courtyard were lovely. The open fire that was lit in the lounge /dinning area, was most welcome, so relaxing. The location in a quiet residential area was perfect, with a 10 min walk to mall or beach.

It would be nice if they could get a liquor licence.One could enjoy a glass of wine there. The residential location makes it difficult to get one. Everything else was more than acceptable.

I love everything!

The location is perfect, close to the beach but in a quiete area. Also close to the main attractions in town. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The rooms are fairly big and clean. The beds are comfortable. Good breakfast albeit a bit pricy. The hotel in itself is very charming and well decorated!

For some reason they charge an extra 100$ per night for incidents and supposedly you get your money back if you don't use it but I haven't received the full invoice yet 3 days after leaving. Also we only got one bathrobe even though we asked for a 2nd one many times. The elevator is very old and only goes to 3rd floor (we were on 4th). There was a lot of draft given that the window in the bathroom didn't close (we weren't really cold but the doors would close very abruptly) and I think how the hotel is designed too. You can hear a bit the room next to you as the walls/doors are thin.

Drip coffee should be free for guests. Understand charging for lattes and nicer coffees but drip is cheap to make so would be a nice and reasonable thing to offer. Thanks!

The location of the Pali House is great. A few blocks from the 3rd Street Promenade with shops and restaurants. It is 3 blocks from the amazing Santa Monica bluffs on Ocean Blvd where you can have beautiful sunset views of Malibu and the Santa Monica Pier. The Pali House is old mission style building full of charm and history. The lift(elevator) is the original. The outdoor patio is great for breakfast.

Beautiful & cosy property, good location, easy parking (valet) and nice snacks/food. We received an upgrade and room was nice and big. Bathrooms are small but clean and convenient. We rented some bikes from the hotel as well. Very fair value for money for LA/Santa Monica.

Service is fairly mediocre (i.e., lot of interactions with clueless people to be honest). Price for snacks/food is a bit too much for what it is.

Good food, great amenities, cute rooms. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating.

the eccentric decor and proximity to amenities

very big apartment with the well equipped kitchen, clothes rooms etc. nice breakfast. very interesting vintage design and building itself.

air conditioning has no hitting mode. there were some radiators but they didn’t work. i guess usually nothing of above needed in California, but those were really cold days when we were there and was not really comfortable.

Lovely historic building / very tastefully designed - everything from the cosy lobby, Lovely court yard, and great spot to hang out at the front - rooms are spacious, clean and unique - also location I found to be excellent, quiet road but short stroll to main promenade , and beach.

Only issue was sound proofing in my room wasn’t brilliant, could hear most chat from lobby and others checking in
