Casa Balthazar, Lisbon

Wonderful staff , large well stocked rooms, quiet spa and pool area. Right in the heart of Lisbon - calm environment to rest after a day of exploring. So many restaurants close by ! The hotels breakfast buffet was top notch each morning. Would stay here again .

Nothing bad worth noting

This cozy little inn is so comfortable and elegant, but not fussy. The property is located in a busy central neighborhood, but step through the gate and the hustle bustle ceases. I love the size of the rooms, the numerous outdoor lounging areas, the breakfast and the sense that I am staying with kind hosts who always leave me a plate of cake.

Eclectic mix of rooms historic & updated. Upstairs terrace; lounge area, large breakfast room, pool. Perfect location in the old city. Receptionist Maria was fabulous. Breakfasts were delicious including pastries from their own bakery. Pro: City View II had a great view, much light, & music drifted up from the cobbled streets. Many restaurants nearby.

City View II room toilet/bidet door should swing outward. Door hits the floor & very difficult to get in the tiny toilet area.

The location in the old city is great, and the facilities are incredible! I wish I had more time to take advantage of all they offer! The availability of coffee and TEA, along with cake every afternoon, was a nice touch.

My room (Castelo 1) was spacious and had a phenomenal view. Unfortunately the room also includes incessant sounds of running/draining water. I was also disturbed by street noise. Luckily, I was exhausted from 2 weeks of travel and was able to fall asleep despite the distractions. It helped that the bed was one of the most comfortable I had throughout my trip!

Perfect location to visit Lisbon's main attractions. Perfect if you have a car to park. The rooms, lounging areas and terrasse are large and great for a quick escape from the bustling city. Best pastel de Natas, freshly based every morning. Staff was friendly and available. Room was spacious and linens are super comfortable. Will definitely be back!

Breakfast choice could be improved, maybe 1 choice of eggs, only hardboiled was available. Breakfast also only starts at 7h30, earlier option would be great when catching à flight.

A beautiful place to stay very homely with gorgeous furniture delicious breakfast and the staff were wonderful. Well located and relaxed pool area. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. The rooms are large and comfortable little kitchenette with Nespresso machine, sink, fridge. Free coffee in the hotel lounge with delicious cake made daily where you can relax on the Devine couches. All the staff very friendly.

We had a wonderful stay. Everything from start to finish was top notch. It's located right in the middle of bustling Lisbon but feels like a private oasis of calm. Would highly recommend to anyone to stay here.

The suites are very spacious and comfortable. The location was very convenient -- with several excellent restaurants nearby and walking distance to many of Lisbon's sights.

I would have loved to have a bathtub to soak in after walking up and down the hills all day. But the shower was wonderful.

This place is THE BEST! And if we On my way! back to Lisbon we would definitely stay here ! The whole place is absolutely spotless and the staff were so lovely and very helpful Our room Jucuzzi 111 was fabulous with beautiful view from the jucuzzi on balcony all over the city, the room itself was massive and so was the bathroom and spotlessly clean with everything you might need plus a welcome bottle of red wine. The facilities in the rest of the hotel were fabulous with an honesty bar so you can serve yourself a drink whenever The pool in the courtyard was lovely and had nice sun beds and grassed area The breakfast was deliciously Fresh it mainly is continental but you can also order eggs My favourite was the Portuguese tarts they were delicious!! I could go on and on about Casa Baltazar it is that good 😊 Definitely 5 star all round ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

From the moment you enter Casa Balthazar you'll realize that you've arrived at a very special place in the heart of old town Lisbon. From the street outside you'd never know that this beautiful boutique hotel awaits when you cross the threshold. The entire hotel is in an old villa and is still family owned. Each room is different and has its own charm. My wife and I couldn't have been happier with our choice. Breakfast each morning is delicious, with a nice selection of food and treats and they will even make eggs for you upon request. The rooms are immaculately cleaned and the staff are really friendly and helpful. There's even a spa downstairs that you can reserve for up to 1 hour per day. I booked this place with high expectations and they were exceeded. I honestly couldn't think of a nicer place to stay within Lisbon.

Where to start...... this place is a real hidden gem, all the reviews were spot on! Located down a quiet side street; which is narrow & a dead end & it's easy to find once you know where it, our taxi also couldn't find it but we were dropped nearby and helped to locate it by the friendly locals in the area. The hotel was perfect for our needs, we opted for a jacuzzi room which did not disappoint! Spectacular views across the Lisbon skyline, a cute hot tub for two, sun loungers and a small table & chairs on the terrace to take in the amazing views! Our room was more than ample size and had everything we needed, including a complimentary bottle of wine. The hotel has a boutique homely vibe, beautifully decorated with antiques and stunning artworks adorning all of the common areas. The breakfast area is filled with light and the huge window looks on to the pool and courtyard area. Breakfast was delicious, selections of meats and cheese, eggs on request and the most divine cakes & pastries all from the hotels own bakery located not far away. The lounge space has coffee, teas and cake available throughout the day, plus a fully stocked bar which works on an honesty box scenario which is a lovely touch. The pool is small but quiet most of the day with plenty of shade as it was incredibly hot when we were there. In addition (which I wasn't even aware of) theres an underground spa which you can hire out (for free) for just the two of you to share at your leisure which was a brilliant way to unwind after striding up and down the hilly streets of Lisbon. The location of the hotel is pretty perfect within walking distance of so many great sites. We felt utterly spoilt and recharged, it's almost like staying with some really close friends, we felt incredibly welcome and looked after. Casa Balthazar is the unusual combination of a first class hotel blended with the charm of a B&B for a perfect experience. Rooms are beautifully and comfortably appointed but it’s the service and staff that create an exceptional experience.

Lovely place in a very nice area . Loved the hot tub in the balcony of our room and the heated pool . The view from the room was amazing .

Lovely room, a small double had plenty of space including a sitting area. Spa was a bonus and breakfast was great. Very quiet and relaxing, close to the centre. Staff were so friendly and helpful.

Be aware of a climb up to the property - but this is Lisbon which is hilly!

Incredible stay in Lisboa. What can I say?.. We had the most amazing stay at Casa Balthazar. We loved the house and our room, the work that was put into the renovation of the property, the decoration and vibe in general. Very relaxed but at the same luxurious and traditional. Our room was perfect. This is one of those places where you actually consider staying at the hotel for a morning of rest, that's how cozy it is. Breakfast was very very good with delicious baked goods from Confeitaria National. The location can't be beat. It's walking distance from main attractions and yet in a secluded and quiet street. The staff was very attentive and accommodated our check-in and check-out requests without question. Definitely will stay here again on my next trip to Lisboa!

Great location for walking around Lisbon (although hard to find when first arriving - it’s at the end of a small one way street with a small sign), beautiful rooms and views, super helpful and accommodating staff.

The breakfast was excellent. We absolutely loved Casa Balthazar!! We regretted not staying here vs another place for 11 days. The location is great and the hosts Sofia and Yuran went above and beyond in welcoming us. We were a party of 2 couples. Our friends loved this place as well. We will definitely stay here if ever in Lisbon again. This was our last night in Portugal after being here throughout the country for a month.

It's a bit challenging to find. I think if they could put a bigger sign out and away from the growing foilage/vines would be very helpful. I also think guests should know it looks like you are going to get stuck in the alley and you might (alley is narrow), but Casa Balthazar does have a turn around area inside the court yard. Courtyard gate is green.

We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Balthazar! We couldn't believe a place like this existed in the centre of Lisbon. We only stayed for one night but the whole experience was wonderful. We stayed in the Corner room, which was bigger than the photos made it look, and very comfortable. We loved the pool (despite the summer rain!) and the spa area, and the staff were all lovely. We'll definitely be back!

Stunning views and kind staff made our stay an unforgettable experience.

Need to advise that hotel is located on a narrow street on a steep hill and not suitable for those with mobility issues. You must navigate a steep slope or climb multiple flights of outside stairs to leave the property. Street was often blocked so taxis/ hired cars couldn't reach us and we had to climb down to meet them.

Awesome accommodation in a beautifully renovated older property. Magnificent breakfasts. Stayed in the Terrace suite with wonderful views. Highly recommended.

Beautiful property with an interesting history and a link to a bakery which provides the most delicious breakfast treats and afternoon cake. Ideal location for exploring Lisbon, and surrounded by great restaurants. The staff were all fantastic, friendly and helpful.

Amazing hotel hidden away in the heart of Lisbon. The staff were great, the rooms were clean and spacious (we got 2 jacuzzi rooms) and the views were incredible. I highly rate this hotel for anyone wanting to stay in Lison.

The location was perfect right in the middle of everything without being noisy. It was also a small hotel so it’s not hustling with people. You get such a sense of calm being there. The spa was also a wonderful addition.

Realistically the only thing I wasn’t over the moon about was the down pillows. But I still had a wonderful nights sleep.

We loved your place! There. was a group of us and having the outside patio as well as the indoor area to gather was fun. Our room was very light, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. The Staff was very friendly and helpful.

We loved everything about Casa Balthazar, from the great view from our room to the comfortable bed and pillows. The property was well kept, beautiful and in a great location. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfasts were fresh and delicious. We enjoyed the pool and the spa and the common areas as well. Casa Balthazar was the best hotel we stayed in during our entire trip to Portugal and Spain.

We loved this hotel and stayed twice during our trip! Both rooms were large and roomy and very clean. We loved the breakfast each morning and enjoyed the pool. The private hot tub in the cottage suite was very nice too! The staff is fantastic and super helpful. Very close to so many areas and uber easily drops off at the end of the road- very short walk. Thank you for the welcome bottle of wine!!

The breakfast, both the food and the service, were fantastic. The room was also really well sized and has everything you need. The location is great, a few minutes walk from Rossio station but felt hidden away at the same time. Didn't get to use the spa because of timing but it looked fantastic and you can reserve the spa for just yourselves. Lastly when you arrive you're offered water and cake if it's during the afternoon which is freshly made each day.

The mini fridge in the room was a bit noisy at night
