Built in 1932, this neo-classical landmark was the most prestigious hotel in British Malaya, renowned for hosting international luminaries and high-society events. In its early days, it was a pioneer of modern luxury, being the first in the region to offer hot and cold running water and private showers in every room.
After closing its doors in 1984, the building was famously transformed into Malaysia’s National Art Gallery for over a decade. It was eventually saved from potential demolition and meticulously restored to its former glory. Today, the property blends the historic, colonial-era “Majestic Wing” with a modern 15-storey “Tower Wing,” both of which are connected by a glass-enclosed walkway.
One of the hotel’s most unique features is its stunning Orchid Conservatory, a glass atrium filled with thousands of seasonal orchids where guests can enjoy afternoon tea. The hotel also pays homage to its history through the “Smoke House,” a bar and lounge that captures the decadence of the 1930s, and the “Colonial Café,” which serves classic dishes reminiscent of the planters’ era.
The hotel sits on a commanding hilltop directly opposite the iconic Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, a masterpiece of Neo-Moorish architecture. Its prime location makes it a perfect starting point for visiting cultural landmarks like the National Museum, the Islamic Arts Museum, and the lush Perdana Botanical Gardens, all of which are just a short distance away.

It was a lovely stay we had at this historic hotel
Well appointed and excellent location
Not much. It’s an old hotel but we knew that so we anticipated that some of the amenities might not be at par with the more modern hotels. It’s historic and old charm more than made up for it

This hotel feels like home
We were late arriving and pleasantly surprised to be given an upgrade to their signature collection. Great big room and a great big breakfast. I enjoyed the pool and the location is so close to the Islamic Museum.

Great and superb experience!
Receptionist staff was super friendly and helpful. Got free upgrade room because I and my wife just got married and went straight to the hotel with our wedding suit and dress after wedding ceremony. Thank you so much The Majestic Hotel. We will repeat soon!

An Amazing Place to Stay in KL
The room was very spacious and clean. It has that island resort and Ritz Carlton ambience and vibe. The breakfast buffet was very good. A variety of fresh juice and beverage. Definitely would stay again next time in KL.

A nice enough stay back at The Majestic.
Stayed here many times back in 2015-2017 so wanted to go back while passing through from Australia. I had many lovely memories from here.
I felt the rooms were a little out dated. I couldn’t find any information about the dialing number for the reception. The bin in the bathroom didn’t have a bottom and all the rubbish fell out when I moved it.

Luxury meets comfort!
Comfy bed and pillow, room is superb clean, the staff were extra attentive with my check-in as I was on wheelchair recovering from knee surgery, very welcoming and the food spread was crazy delicious!

We loved our stay at this hotel & would recommend it to others unreservedly.
The rooms were very spacious. The housekeeping staff were excellent & cleaned the room beautifully. They would check later in the day to ensure we didn’t need anything. All the staff we encountered were very attentive, friendly & welcoming.
Win in particular was a standout in terms of his care & professionalism. He made us feel very special guests which was really nice.
We were very cold the first night whilst having dinner in the restaurant. It spoilt our meal to a degree. The AC was far too low.
The water in the bathtub wasn’t hot enough To enjoy a bath & the TV maximum volume was too low.

Room very big face tallest 118 building, bed very big size and breakfast serve with variety and delicious foods with local, western and others.

Majestic Stay with Majestic Hotel
It brings me childhood memories of my 1st hotel visit. Front office team are very warm and professional. Even that time is a heavy check in, rooms are due, they still struggle to please us to max. Polite words and sincerity. Keep it up 👏👏👏
Breakfast buffet was awesome! Taste all good. If the bread selection was Artisan would be perfect !
Food and Beverage staff not warm at all. Straight faces. Most are foreigners to be specific Bangladeshi. Management have to train them how important guest relations are. I complained about complimentary juces that tasted very weird near to spoil. The staff noted but never change the drinks. Suspected the juice is balance from breakfast bring foward to evening complimentary drink. Please do something!
Kitchen team, please smile and try your best to create or maintain guest relation. Its very important, and it's part of our job. Im working in same industry for 13years so you know what I mean.

It was an enjoyable place to have a staycation.
I love how spacious the room and the service provided by the staffs. I love that i can order fresh coffee with varieties of syrup during breakfast.
I went to have breakfast at 8.30am but some of the food was already finished and took a bit of time to replenish.
