Hotel Granduca, Houston

The hotel is in need of some upgrades. Hotel is very dated. Construction was going on so only one elevator was working. It was not worth the price and on top of all this I got charged for self parking.

They tried to over charge my American Express card when I arrived for incidentals . It was declined . I called the customer service. They told ent hey we’re trying to charge $647.00 and to get a line item receipt and it was supposed to be $150. This happened the time before. I was very upset thinking my CC had been hacked. They were supposed to give me a full refund. When I left they told me they were waiting on the manager. All the staff except one valet was fired or quit in the few days before. There were also some strange people and activities around. I will not stay there until it if finished na even then I might not. They better refund my stay.

The whole facility along with the plumbing needs a total remodel. Thanks,

Significant renovations were taking place at the property during my visit, which meant that the typical dining space was closed as well as the patios, and only the pool area was open. However, in order to reach the pool area guest were required to walk outside and all the way around the property to access this area. The property did not inform guests of the extensive renovations and minimized the work being done. Work on the property due to renovations begin early in the mornings and lasted all throughout the day, creating a very loud and disruptive atmosphere making it impossible to work remotely uninterrupted from property. Upon check out, I requested to speak to a manager and there was none available. I shared how my room did not have a basic amenity such as a refrigerator causing my $50 custom-made gumbo to spoil. I was only offered a breakfast for the many unacceptable interruptions and inconvenience experienced while staying at this property. I requested that a manager give me a call and to date I have not heard from anyone from the property. I am recommending to my colleagues and business partners to no longer stay at this property when visiting Houston due to the poor accommodations and customer service.

The property is in a great location and , whilst it is slightly jaded in terms of its presentation, it has its own charm. Its concierge service is first class and the staff were incredibly welcoming.

I had to move from the first room as the hotel accepts pets and a dog was barking next door. The absolutely astonishing black mark against this hotel is that they are yet to refund me deposit- 2 month after the fact! I have been contacting them weekly fur an update in my status and it has gone from “the deposit has been released, contact your bank” to “I will look into this for you” Completely unacceptable.

The staff in the bar and restaurant area were excellent. Nothing like as too much trouble. They were attentive but not intrusive and were very helpful.

The Concierge / Valet upon arrival and departure were lovely.

Not knowing about the usurious cat fee was unacceptable. Being summarily informed at the front upon arrival was rude. An Italian restaurant..Tuscano..in which the service didnt or couldnt understand the menu was laughable, however we weren't amused. We had been on the road for 6 days, dreaming of our 2 night stay in Houston. To say it was a nightmare is harsh, however not at all what we'd hoped. The website looked inviting and luxurious. Our stay will be the one and only time we visit. Truly an experience where reality did NOT match expectation.

The location is fantastic. The doormen were also fantastic. My wife really enjoyed the deep tub, and I enjoyed the beautiful pool. The bar is very nice, as well as the bar staff. Parking is great whether valet or self.

The check in folks seemed preoccupied and could cheer up some. We were very surprised that there was not a refrigerator in the room, as it had a microwave and stove....but there is really very little to not like here.

This was our 1st time here and at check in the gentleman wasn't helpful at all. We had no idea how to get to the elevator or where our room was. We weren't explained to how room service worked the beverage bar, restaurant or anything. We basically had to figure it all out ourselves. I'd think for a Hotel of this stature guest would be welcomed way better weather it be the 1st stay or 100th stay.

I was a little worried that it might be a bit pretentious and not the place for a leisure type trip. I was wrong, it was great. As soon as we arrived we were able to relax and enjoy the stay.

Beautiful surroundings! Food was excellent. We ate in “Georgio’s and listened to the live music and loved it!

Overpriced for what you get.

I think the facility needs a face lift. I understand the vintage look concept but some the rugs and the wall paint need to be changed. The facility does not have the feel it had 3/4 years ago.

it’s so over priced for the quality of the rooms. bathrooms are old, exhaust didn’t work even when I notified the front desk. house keeping is terrible I came back to trash cans not empty, dirty glasses still in the room. quality of linen is average for a luxury hotel.

We were able to check-in a bit earlier, which was nice since we had nowhere else to go. Staff was friendly, especially the bartender Aybar. He was personal and knowledgeable about his beverages. The restaurant Alba was top notch and will definitely be going back. The waitresses were kind and explained everything to us. Very intimate setting which is perfect for an anniversary like us.

Our room was nice at the end of the hallway but the bathroom was a huge disappointment. The shower head was so rusted that only half of the water spat out. Then the second day we woke up showered and when we were done we started to smell rotten eggs. Went in the bathroom and was hit with the overwhelming smell of sewer water. Soon it overtook the whole room. We had to pack up and leave before checkout time because we couldn't breathe. Not what we expected for over $400 a night!

Restaurant staff were lovely and the food was very good. The restaurant staff clearly care very much about their hotel - as does the owner who arranged for complimentary drinks for us as the pool was out of action.

While the restaurant staff are fab the same can’t be said for reception. Check in was underwhelming and same receptionist told us laundry put on on Saturday would be back same day or next day. Turned out as it wasn’t express it wouldn’t even be sent out until the Monday (when we were leaving). Ok we should have read the very small print on the form but the attitude of the receptionist and apparently her manager was poor. Restaurant staff stepped in and made up for things yet again. Also Hotel is on need of a bit of TLC. Tired in places. Pool was out of action (a strange shade of green)

Everything about my daughters stay was excellent. She was more than thrilled with most of her experience!

There was a loud party with weed smoking across the hall at 12:30 pm. She called the desk however no one answered. She was forced to go down to the concierge to deal with the situation. I believe in a hotel of this quality someone should be patrolling the halls occasionally to make sure things like this do not happen.

Location is good.

We left immediately after checkout. Place smelled aweful. Room next door had a large barking dog. Pubic hair all over bathroom. Hotel refused a refund.
