The front desk rarely answered the phone. Tasks were done slowly or not at all. The hotel restaurant had terrible breakfast food.

AMAZING location- away from the bustle of the main Waikiki strip, sweet beach, mix of locals and tourists. Snorkeling when conditions are good. Really enjoyed the free amenities that came with our stay: lei making, star gazing, yoga, and paddle boarding. Sad that they cancelled the ukelele class. Staff was consistently friendly. A/C was good. Nicely appointed lobby w free sunscreen.

The room was a bit tatty- the carpet could use replacing. The kitchenette could have used a lot more plates, bowls, serving bowls, etc. to be useful. Housekeeping was fine but a bit inconsistent. The loaner bikes we were told would be available were all out of commission, which was too bad. Also the hotel doesn't have enough beach chairs for all the guests so they run out early.

Located next to the beach

Nothing. Everything was fine.

The location. Out of busy central area, next to a park and green hills. Beautiful beach. Small convenience store underneath that was well stocked. Great coffee underneath open early.

The room was very musty, bathroom had no external windows. We would stay again because of the location but feel the rooms are in a need of a refurb.

The hotel is located directly on a beach in a quieter part of Waikiki. The staff is super helpful with plenty of Aloha spirit. There are 4 bicycles to rent so you need to come early. If you decide to buy breakfast, you can go to the restaurant and order one entrée and one non-alcoholic drink; that's definitely a good choice. The restaurant is quite popular due to a stunning view of the ocean but a little bit pricey. Hotel provides you with beach towels/chairs and sunscreen.

The classic suite is quite dated.

Breakfast didn't start early enough to be convenient for sightseeing. Room felt dated for the price.

The location and Beach were amazing. The staff were kind and helpful.

The only problem I had was that Booking.com listed there was a Gym at the hotel and the was none.

Beach location and being out of the noise of Waikiki

From the moment we checked in, to the hospitality of those at the restaurant, to the cleaning service, the staff was amazing! The room was clean, and the view of the city and mountains was absolutely beautiful! Reading a book out on the balcony early morning and later after a day at the beach was so relaxing and just beautiful! The beach at the property was amazing and we loved seeing the visiting Hawaiian Monk Seals! Loved that the hotel provided towels and chairs for the beach as well! The coffee shop was great, offering so many selections of coffee with delicious baked goods, and a little convenient store right out front was perfect!

I wish there was a separate light switch inside the bathroom with the shower and toilet. If you had to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, the only light would shine both inside with the shower and toilet as well as outside by the sink, lighting up the room as well.

Loved being beach front! Staff was AMAZING!

Couldn't use the restaurant for anything but full meals/dining. No beach umbrellas or chairs that weren't broken or old.

Perfect location, the lobby, and beach were excellent. Great value for the location and what it provides.

The hotel team organized stargazing experience, invited local astronomer who brought along powerful telescope.

The location and staff were both top notch. It was also nice to have laundry facilities and a very nice restaurant available.

The room was extremely small, with a bathroom that had no privacy. That said, we chose the most inexpensive option, so it wasn’t a huge surprise.

What a beautiful property! The lobby and restaurant are so tranquil. Our room was very comfortable and the balcony was generous in size. We loved the quieter location and gorgeous beach access. The staff were all friendly and attentive.

We would have preferred a coffee maker in our room. The restaurant is beautiful but quite expensive - not the best value for money as a hotel guest. Finally, all requests, even beach towels, go through the reception desk so sometimes they get backed up.

I'm so upset because I paid for my reservation with breakfast included, and when I got there, I found the place where breakfast was supposed to be. To my surprise, it was the same restaurant with the same menu they have all day. The worst part was that I had to make a reservation and wait 30 minutes. Then they gave me the menu, and there were only three options I could order, and it was more like lunch than breakfast. I hated that they did that. What I like most about hotels that offer breakfast is that you wake up and they already have a buffet ready. And something else. They also told me it only included one drink, meaning if you order coffee and juice, you have to pay for one of them. I'm so sorry, but as long as they don't offer a buffet for breakfast, you'll never see me again.

The lobby, beach and restaurant were great but the room barely fit the double bed. Carpet was worn, tiny very clean bathroom.

Perfect location away from the craziness of Waikiki. Resort fee pricey for not having pool. Lovely beach in front of hotel. One of the only actual beach side restaurants in Waikiki. Great food! Loved when they had music.

Rooms a bit cramped

My fourth stay at this hotel. The location, relaxed feel, beachfront, great food at the Hau Tree restaurant and overall vibe make this the best place to stay. My oceanfront room was exceptional. The view was stunning.

Beautiful location with a stellar beach right out front. Great staff. Out of the hubbub of the main tourist area, it felt low key and a perfect getaway. There’s a nice park next door to take a walk. Balcony overlooked the ocean. One thing to note, the rooms are smallish. But the location, beach, staff all made up for it and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. In fact, if I stay in Honolulu again, I will for sure be here! Maybe just be sure you pack lightly lol :)

Great location, really nice staff, good swimming beach. Out of the noise of Waikiki. Room was a little dated but perfectly fine. Worth it to be in the location. Good amenities and restaurant. Nice to walk through the park toward town. It was so much more relaxing than being in the center of Waikiki. We only stayed one night after arriving on a long haul flight and still felt it was worth it to land on the beach with such convenience and swim even before check in time.

Rooms are a little dated but just fine. If you want to dine on the lower patio at beach level make a reservation ahead, although the upper level is perfectly nice.

Execellent loctaion

The view from our room was stunning both by day and by night. We loved the location as its virtually a private beach way less crowded than Waikiki. Its quite a walk to the restaurants and shops of Waikiki so we taxied. The food is great and atmosphere buzzing. Would definitely stay here again.

Always a bit of a wait for somewhere to sit to eat (but food was great).

There were always tables reserved but no one would occupy them throughout the night, and then told no tables available in the restaurants .If people reserve tables but don’t turn up after one hour release them to paying guests

Hands down the best location in town.

Not necessarily a dislike but be aware: we were upgraded to a king size room. Those rooms are in the side wing. The view was nice as we could see a bit of the ocean. But the design is very different from the rest of the hotel. It is mot the light artsy beachy vibe but more that of a business hotel.

Friendly, helpful staff. Great brunch. Quieter end of Waikiki. Comfortable suite with kitchette, had table, comfy bed and sleeper sofa. Lanai faced beach park, nice to hear birds. Could walk out to the sand for swim, watch sunset. Hotel was right next to beach, and park. Modest size, not glitzy hotel, and was comfortably casual. Kitchenette was great for making picnic, meals or after swim snacks. Handy laundry, snack shop and surf board rental available on site. Great walking area, close to Diamond Head.

Street parking usually worked out if timed right. Or we paid meters. Bring quarters. Room was nice but had minor wall dings, scuffs, needed fresh paint. Our unit was a walk up stairs to unit, wasnt a problem for us, but be sure to speak up if you need elevator. Ask what way your room faces if an ocean view is important.

We got the oceanfront view junior suite and the view was amazing. We were obsessed with the sunsets! We saw turtles and seals from our balcony.

Four stars seems a little generous. The doors slamming is the only way they shut, the water pressure was terrible. If it wasn’t for the amazing view from our balcony then my rating would be lower.

We really liked the panoramic ocean view room that looks out to the whole stretch of Waikiki beach. The room was very comfortable and clean. There is no gym but we could exercise at the park next to the hotel. The car jockey service was good.

The female reception staff who checked us in seemed determined to be unhelpful and even gave us wrong information saying there was no New Year's eve fireworks in Waikiki. Luckily, we did some research and saw the most spectacular fireworks in Waikiki. We have stayed in a few hotels in Hawaii this trip and Kaimana is by far the most unfriendly (except at the restaurant)

Unfortunately they do not have any table tablecloth in the Hau Tree Restaurant anymore , what they had years before. For such a good restaurant it’s a minus.

Quiet location on a chill locals beach, fantastic bar with absolute top notch bartenders. Rooms were small but had a great midcentury vibe.

Only one ice machine inconvenienly located on eighth floor. Rooms needed more glasses - only two provided. Hotel helpfully provides towels for the beach but they are way too small for beach towels.

Best location in Waikiki area for accommodations. One is away from the congestion, but close enough to experience parks, beachfront cafes and shopping area. Lovely decor and ambience throughout the hotel. All staff members were very friendly and accommodating.

The hotel was right on the beach in a quiet part of Waikiki.

The “resort fee” of $40/day.

The location on Kaimana Beach is exceptional. The Hau Tree Restaurant is also fantastic for brunch or dinner.

The common areas in the tower building need some TLC. The Wifi is also suboptimal, and I was traveling on business.

The location is great! Beach chairs and towels are free and there is a good supply. There is also free sunscreen available to guests.

It’s expensive to stay and expensive to eat, but the amenities make it worth the price if you are going to be paying that anyway.

- Hawaiian owned and managed - quieter end of tourist strip, next to excellent public park - family suite in separate building had larger lanai overlooking park - smaller beach but steps down from hotel - lanai overlooking ocean - lovely classes: really enjoyed cultural background and fun teachers, e.g. ukulele and lei-making - very friendly and helpful staff - nicely designed interiors

- our ocean-side queen room was very small (obviously paying for the beautiful view from lanai, not excess interior space) - family suite in smaller building was slightly mildewy, so even though it was cool, we ran the air-con all day to clear out the air - not enough bikes available, so be sure to snag early as possible - not enough reception staff, so long and slow lines to receive beach equipment, ask questions, etc.

It’s in a great location in a less busy part of Waikiki, the lobby is adorable retro Hawaiiana. The view is fabulous!

Front desk was friendly, valet was great. We had a disappointing moment at the bar/cafe trying to order drinks & food. The hostess was great, the waitress never came back to take our order and we left after 10 minutes.

When I arrived, the hotel wanted to charge me another $40 per night even though I had paid in advance. After I complained, they waived the charge. Parking for 2 days cost $100. The room was very basic but OK, it was clean except for the dust under the bed, the location was good and you could sleep peacefully, the staff was friendly.
