Sir Nikolai Hotel, Hamburg

Excellent quiet location and the rooms were beautifully appointed. Staff was helpful and they greeted us in the lobby on arrival with champagne and chocolates.

Quiet, comfortable room, good facilities including a kettle and an illy coffee machine. We were given a voucher for a welcome drink (sparkling wine or a beer) in the bar. Great location within walking distance of the Speicherstadt, the Albstadt and the train station.

It was a beautiful historical hotel and very close to a lot of things.

The restaurants close by were not open when we were there. Also the mattress was too soft

Quite expensive, parking costs extra 28EUR per day. Bathroom is not a separate room, which is quite inconvenient.

Conveniently located hotel with lovely ambience. Our room was comfortable with a view of the Elbe. Nice touch to be given a free welcome drink in the bar. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Less keen on the bathroom arrangement - marble shower ‘pod’ and toilet with sink outside in the main room. All nicely done just would have preferred a standard bathroom.

The staff were amazing, very polite and courteous. The hotel bar is really nice with a good selection of excellent cocktails. The rooms are comfortable, perfectly formed, and very quiet. We will definitely stay here next time we visit Hamburg.

Good location to visit down-town and the Unesco World Heritage area. The hotel had a pleasant smell of vervein perfume. Nice room furniture, very refined. Very good choice of breakfast food, with the possibility to have à la carte dishes.

The bathroom was split in 3 areas: one for the toilet itself, one for the shower and the sink was in the bedroom. Everything was aesthetically refined but not very functional. In addition, toilet and shower room fans did not work and toilet room door did not close properly. For hygienic purpose, it would be better to have all the breakfast food more covered.

The location was brilliant. The staff were very helpful. The room was really beautiful with cool touches. It was spotlessly clean and quite spacious. I loved the interior design of the room and the hotel in general. I appreciated the complimentary drink in the bar also. I will definitely be back:)

Breakfast was not included and expensive to add on, and shower only had a hand held which didn’t fit into wall bracket properly so had to take it off and hold it.

A beautiful hotel in a good location 👌 staff are friendly and it was spotless i did think breakfast was expensive but there was a good choice of food to suit all tastes. Bar was lovely Bar staff very friendly but only except card payment which I didn't like other than that a lovely place to stay beds are very comfortable overall stay was great and we enjoyed it.. we stayed because a family member was getting married

- No parking at the hotel, it's possible to park on the street near but there are no many places and you need to pay 8€ for every 2 hours except night and Sunday - Rooms are clean but there are some signs of tear and wear.

Fabulous room ( ask for a room with a view of the water rather than an internal facing room) with quality fittings, comfortable bed. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Quiet location, close to cafes, restaurants and places of interest. Very efficient and friendly staff. Lovely decor. Great check out time 12:00!

Beautiful boutique hotel in an amazing location, super friendly and helpful staff (I was able to check in earlier), tasty breakfast with a variety of options. Modern room, with an unusual yet comfortable solution for the shower, toilet, and sink.

The only issue was that the room was quite loud and acoustic. Both nights I was woken up by very loud clicking/electronic noises in the middle of the night; toilet flushing from other rooms could be heard as well.

The location was great, rooms were very clean with all the facilities was really nice after a long day of walking, The buffet was fabulous and staff ever so helpful and caring

Fabulous stay. Very comfortable room and clean with good amenities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Not too far of a walk from the train station and to local eateries.

Absolutely perfect! We received drinks vouchers upon arrival to redeem at their bar. The room was spacious and beautifully designed. The bar fridge was well-stocked with a great variety of drinks - not just the usual which made our stay even better, especially when we wanted a bevvy or two while getting ready. Two other highlights were the luxurious, roomy bathroom and the Marshall speaker (so good—we loved being able to play some tunes throughout!). Breakfast was honestly one of the best I’ve had so far: perfectly cooked eggs, a wide range of options, and even some healthy ginger shots! I just loved it :) Oh and I didn't mention how good the location was - but of course it was super close to everything and convient!!

Decor and eclectic nature of the hotel. Lovely terrace over the water in the bar. Free drink on arrival was a nice idea and appreciated. Comfortable bed. Excellent shower.

A lot of attention had been given to the I.T. in the room but we had a leak from the shower tray into the room onto a tiled floor, which we reported as it was dangerous. Staff thanked us and said they would action. Shower tray damaged and a bit tatty. Bed headboard had a stain on it.

Loved the hotel and location. Perfect place for a weekend getaway in Hamburg.

The spa facilities are unfortunately closed since 2020

Excellent location to visit Speicherstadt and easily reachable with public transportation from the main train station as well as from the airport. The hotel is located in a small side street, is very quiet, and has a lovely atmosphere.Very friendly staff, well equipped and well designed rooms, and excellent breakfast. Our room had a lovely view out over a canal, but I think some rooms might have a not so nice view into a small inner courtyard. There is a small Spanish tapas restaurant next door. Very delicious tapas and good wine. A seven minute walk to the S-Bahn station to get to the airport.

It’s a very stylish hotel close to the 2 Unesco Heritage districts. Lovely rooms, excellent breakfast and helpful staff

All the room fridges were out of service and the air conditioning was very temperamental and not working in most rooms most of the time. Both for the entirety of our four night stay. In the hottest week of the year that was unacceptable. Offer of free cold drinks was hardly compensation.

Had to move from our first room because the toilet door wouldn’t shut. This should have been noticed by staff before we arrived Then the air conditioning wasn’t working. We were given a fan which helped a little, but didn’t cool the room The fridge didn’t work It would have been good if the hotel had served food in the evening. No info given at check-in about the tablet in the room substituting for a room info pack, and the info on the tablet was poor/incomplete.

The hotel boasts an ideal location; it’s situated just outside the bustling heart of the city, allowing for a peaceful retreat while still being conveniently close to major attractions like the historic Speicherstadt and St. Michael's Church. This balance made it easy to explore the city's vibrant culture without feeling overwhelmed by the crowds. Upon entering my room, I was greeted by a modern, cozy atmosphere that immediately felt welcoming. Natural light flooded in through large windows, creating a warm and inviting environment perfect for unwinding after a full day of sightseeing. The attention to detail in the room's decor, with its sleek furnishings and thoughtful amenities, ensured every comfort was catered to. One of the highlights of my stay was the breakfast spread, which was truly exceptional. It included an extensive variety of options, from freshly baked pastries and artisan breads to a selection of cheeses and cold cuts, as well as a range of healthy choices like fruits and yogurts. Each morning, this delightful array not only fueled my day but also set a cheerful tone for my adventures. However, what truly made my stay memorable was the staff. From the moment I checked in, every team member I encountered was outstanding. Their consistent friendliness and genuine willingness to go above and beyond made a remarkable difference. Whether it was providing local tips or accommodating special requests, their dedication to guest satisfaction was apparent and greatly enhanced my overall experience. In summary, The Nikolai Hamburg is a hidden gem that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the city.

The room we got didn't have proper functioning curtains, there were holes in the ceiling indicating that the original curtains were broken and removed. Of course we could probably have asked to change the room, didn't want any fuss. A little pricey, but worthy overall

The quiet location, but close to many attractions and walkable. The rooms are in keeping with the boutique tradition and were well appointed.

After a long day of traveling and sightseeing, we were so surprised and delighted to come back to an upgraded room — thank you so much! ❤️🙏 The room was spacious, very clean, and beautifully decorated, with a stunning view of the canal and church. The bathtub was such a lovely bonus, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Everything in the room was just perfect!

Everything was amazing, the staff was very nice and helpful, especially the girl who assisted us with the early check in, we really appreciated it. The room was absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed it fully, would definitely recommend.

Would have preferred to have breakfast at the property also but it was way too expensive, 52€ for two people i find way overpriced, especially because I work in hospitality myself and I know the whereabouts.

Really elegant hotel with lots amenities, fabulous mini-bar, bluetooth speaker in the room and great sound-proofing. Location is perfect for a number of attractions or business needs. A little off the main thoroughfare, which was nice. Admittedly, I got a great deal on booking and this would have normally likely been out of my price range. Really professional staff.

Beautifully decorated boutique hotel in a lovely location near the canals. Wonderful breakfast in a delightful dining area. Crisp, high thread count sheets. Quiet room. A technical problem with the original room was swiftly and effectively managed by a member of staff. Complimentary drinks at happy hour.
