Staff was very friendly, price was cheap, and location was amazing to walk around the city center.

The hotel is located beside a busy road and could hear buses, cleaning trucks and noisy young people after-hours.

The old-fashioned decor was wonderful. I loved the main atrium and stairway. The room was comfortable with a view. The staff who checked me in were helpful and polite.

The room had a smell of stale smoke,a nd the bed itself was not very comfortable to sleep on. Not a bad bed per see, but certainly not a great one. When trying to check out it was a while until reception could see me.

Great location. We asked for a high floor room and we got it. Room ready when we arrived. Nice clean room, comfy bed and pillows. Staff very helpful and cheery. Had a small bathroom but clean and well laid out. Lots of towels if needed. Tea and coffee maikng facilities in room. Good temperature, not too hot. Quirky lift we enjoyed using !

Wardrobe was quite dated and windows didn't really close properly so we had a noisy nite from the street outside!

Great location in centre of Glasgow right opposite a q-park. Friendly welcome from reception and breakfast staff.Breakfast is excellent - cooked to order rather than buffet style.

Room a bit cool when we arrived in the afternoon (as radiators were turned off). Then too warm overnight with heating on. Nightporter was very grumpy when we said good evening and asked if the bar was still open. His response was a terse ‘bar’s shut’ and response to is there a resident’s lounge was a very terse ‘bar’s shut’ - oh well.

Couldn’t open windows and room got very hot, air con was loud and not the best but they did provide a fan and option to change rooms.

This is a property steeped in history. The building was the childhood home of Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman (Prime Minister of UK 1905) and an office for the education board until the 1990’s… the education board put in the lift which still works today, old school gate lift which is really cool. The room was spacious, the location was central to everything and the breakfast exceeded expectations with the staff all being great.

It’s a little old but it delivered exactly what we wanted with comfort.

The old lift and traditional tiling was quite cool. It's a good location for city centre shenanigans and the theatres. And the discount for the car park directly across the road was a bug bonus. We didn't access the bar or restraunt, but from what I glimpsed they looked pleasant. The bed was very comfy and the shower worked.

The room was quite run down, tele didn't work (not that I especially wanted to watch anything), there was some peeling paint, a bit of wallpaper coming away, the bath panel was obviously hiding a multitude of sins, and they'd put some glass tops on the old furniture but they were I'll fitting.

I liked the decor of the hotel, location and price.

The bed frame was broken so the bed was VERY soft. The plug sockets could also be updated to have USB/USBC chargers.

The lift was cool, the staff were very friendly, especially the lady in the brasserie for breakfast.

Wonderful hotel - top class destination

The hotel was lovely, the style and decor were unique. The room was clean and tidy and the beds were comfy. Only downside, which I didn't think possible in Scotland was it being far too hot! The air con didn't cool the room down, and the windows do not open which meant it got far to hot and made a horrible sleeping experience when sharing a bed aswell.

Room furnishings could have been more modern such as wardrobe and the bathroom lock wasn’t great either. Room itself was nice, though could have been cleaned up better before we arrived.

Amazing staff, couldn't do enough for us. Made us feel so welcomed. Rooms clean and comfy with huge high ceilings. Cool building decor.

The first room we were given was quite dated, and there was an unpleasant smell. The window didn't open, so we asked to be moved. Thankfully, this was not an issue, and we were offered an alternative room within 15 minutes. The second room was really lovely. The staff are run off their feet between operating the bar and the reception. They were still very accommodating, but they seemed stretched. I think the hotel could do with some investment to bring its back to its former glory. Such a beautiful building deserves it!

Very clean room. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and the bar area had a lovely atmosphere. The iconic lift was beautiful.

Have stayed here twice before quite a few years ago and loved it. Now though, the decor feels tired and many fittings are in need of repair. The basement bar is lying empty and derelict and the A is missing from the Abode sign outside. It's a bit unkempt and definitely no longer 4 star.

Very helpful lady on reception allowed me check in early ,gave me a ground floor room and I got breakfast in my room as I was unable to go to the restaurant.Nothing was a bother

Great location for where we had plans. Excellent Italian restaurant around the corner.

We thought that the cost of a pot of tea was expensive. There was only sourdough bread available so had to have my eggs with no bread.

The staff were awesome and the bed was fantastic. You have a choice of bath or shower, and the place was really nice and clean.

Could have done with a spot of fresh air in the room, as there was a slight smell. It wasn't super bothersome and I'd stay there again.

It is a very unusual and charismatic hotel with so many original features. Great breakfast and choice of food. Little slow service on what was a full house weekend. poor but charming girl rushing around- do get more waitresses. But everything else top dollar & very helpfull reception .

The reception desk staff were very helpful and kind. Our double bed was a lot smaller than expected and the staff were able to swap us to a twin room version which made all the difference.

The hotel was quiet noise wise, given it is situated in the city centre of Glasgow. The architecture was excellent and the quality of the breakfast was superb. All freshly made to order and great value for money. The staff were all very pleasant. Quite a delightful surprise.

There was really nothing to dislike. The bedroom was average and small, however we knew we were in a standard room, so that's not a complaint. Such a pity that the iconic lift was out of order. We will need to go back to experience it!

Great building with interesting history. Very comfortable and attractively furnished and styled rooms - appropriate for the building. Cosy - important as we were there during the big storm so it was a place of refuge!

All good - the reception area was possibly a bit chilly on the windy weekend we were there and we thought for the reception staff!

Quite noisy due to the location. We had a room at the front facing out onto the main street. Lots of noise when the nearby pubs emptied. However I'm sure the rooms at the side or the back of the hotel would have been perfect

Room 116 radiator in bathroom super close to toilet pan, room furniture very dated as were the floorings. Nice selection of Crisps water and even tunnocks tea cakes but !! U have to pay for it all including the water so we never used anything. Lift was out of order but they had put us on first floor thankfully as hills up to hotel were a bit much for me so I wouldn't recommend to the less mobile.

Breakfast was good. Hotel decor was excellent. Staff were courteous and helpful.

The first room we were allocated was unacceptable for a 4-star hotel. The wardrobe was tiny for 2 people and was almost full with an ironing board. They eventually found us another room with a more acceptable wardrobe. However, the phone did not work and they did not repair it for the duration of the stay. The unit for inserting the platic room key in order to activate room lighting was broken and had to be bodged to allow us to have electricity. The magnificent lift would not work unless the previous occupant had closed the two doors, which was frustrating and difficult (we are pensioners), causing us to walk up and down 4 flights of stairs sometimes. There was no fridge in the room, which is unacceptable for a 4-star hotel.

Lots of character, clean, comfortable and included a bath and shower. Working air con/heating. Delicious breakfast.

No room service or evening restaurant, however, lots of restaurants around the hotel.

The front desk woman was very helpful and friendly. Location was pretty central. Vaulted ceilings made the room feel large. Good security, had to use room key to get in everywhere. The bed was very comfortable.

The hotel decor and some facilities were very outdated. Tv was not a smart tv, we could only watch cable. Our shower door was also broken and got water on the floor when we were showering. The tub was very high up so getting out of the shower was a little precarious. Toilet didn’t flush properly.

Location, facilities and food are excellent.

Very minor critique, hotel bar closed and as a resident we were ‘hurried up’ to finish our drink.
